  • Salvador, Bahia, Brazil has some incredible places to visit. The Lacerda Elevador is a must see. You can buy very unique and traditional art, jewelry, musical instruments, clothes and more at the Mercado Modelo Market across the street.
Our kids loved exploring and checking out all the different crafts. I think their favorite part was getting ice cream on the upper level. I love the ethnic style of clothes here.
France has the Eiffel tower and New York has the statue of liberty. Well Salvador, Bahia has Elevador Lacerda! The famous elevator was built in 1873 and connects the upper Salvador (Cidade Alta) to Lower Salvador (Cidade Baixa). The upper city is the gateway to Pelorinho, the historical district. The lower city connects the Bay of All Saints and Mercado Modelo. The Elevator costs R$0.15 to ride and has some incredible views. Video 52
