If you open the valve the compressor is never going to shut off the whole time you are using it. They make a quick disconnect flow control valve fir air brushes that will give you needed adjustment right at your finger tips. It fits right where the air hose connects to you airbrush. You can get it for 8 bucks on amazon. That not only gives you regulated flow of air and a quick disconnect feature for your airbrush. But it keeps you compressor from burning up by running constantly while the valve is open that your speaking of. I can not believe that Iwata would even sell this instant on instant off compressor with out regulated control

Will adding a regulator have an adverse effect on the life of the compressor? I just bought one and having an easy way to regulate the pressure without keeping the MAC valve open would be helpful.

The coiled hose after the trap cant prevent water in the air, if its there after the trap you are screwed. And what the heck is the JET function?? Im sure you pay more for the name than the product in this case.
Can you recommend a regulator to add to my Smart Jet? I assume another coiled hose is needed to added an line regular if you are going to keep the stock water trap in place and mount the regulator on a work bench with the compressor on the ground.
