I love BA CityFlyer and its fleet of E190s. Like you say, an enhanced level of complimentary catering in economy class. The steep 5.5 degree approach into LCY is amazing too!
Not just business. I flew BA for my family holiday flight to Mallorca. You can take a 23kg roll on included in the basic price (plus small bag such as backpack) so it’s economical although the extra for a check in bag is reasonable. I like the 2 by 2 seat layout and the legroom. Sadly the legroom in the back half of the plane is being reduced as BA cram in 2 more rows of seats but I’m average height so still enough room. I found the airport easy to get to by DLR and it’s pleasant enough with plenty of seating apart from the small departure lounge. There’s not enough space for a full flight and we were kept waiting there because of departure delays. The inflight snack is a bit mean - half a sandwich and a packet of chips or harvest bar but there’s a well stocked free bar. Arrival was efficient, quick offload of bags and heading home without delay.
Yep London city can get a bit backed up when flights are delayed, although I haven’t actually experienced it. Was it bearable Michael? or did it become so crowded it would put you off flying through there again ?
Re the question at 5:23, Loganair Edinburgh to Southampton - free water, tea, or instant coffee, with choice of shortbread or Tunnock's caramel wafer :-) Am sure it's all rolled into the price but it's a nice touch.
If you are ever lucky enough to be disembarking there when an E190 is selecting take off thrust, you are in for a treat as an avgeek ! The noise I would say, is close to the BAC 1-11 ! I love the 2+2 seating arrangement, and it's more comfortable than an A320.
unfortunately, we were the second out that day, so didn't get to hear it. but will most certainly try to capture it in future. although sometimes the camera really doesn't do sounds and visuals justice, thank you for watching
I've flown this route several times and agree with everything you said about the Embraer 190- a fantastic aircraft to fly on with a spacious and comfortable cabin and it's always fun with the steep climb and descent out of and into LCY. Loganair, Eastern Airways, KLM, Air France, Aegean and Turkish Airlines are some carriers who still offer complimentary refreshments on European flights.
I haven’t flown KLM or Air France for such a long time, I wasn’t sure if they still offer complimentary drinks that you can choose, rather than the odd bottle of water. Thanks for the info 👍🏼
I always wanted to land at London City because I heard its quite thrilling. I've been on a Logan Air Embraer from Exeter to Norwich but ours was a 2+1 configuration, so it must be a different model..it was very cool though, bit like a private jet and being a Scottish airline we got a Highland Spring bottle of water and a Scottish shortbread biscuit :) I think we were in the air for about 35 minutes lol. Those little planes are like pocket rockets...cool vid btw
Thank you for this great video. I agree with all that you say, and I find the Embraer 190 far more comfortable than a A320. Also LCY have a pretty good choice of destinations for short haul services, and I invariably use it to fly to Paris, and the descent into Orly always gives a fabulous view of that fine City !
You didn't mention, take offs and landings at City Airport are at a steeper incline / decline than other airports. As a passenger it is noticed but feels fine.
Hi Ian, Indees they very steep takeoffs, this one didn’t seem as steep. Maybe because it was a departure from Runway 27 heading away from the build up docklands area, or it was and I didn’t really notice it. Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed it
Planes from London city need to be able to deal with the shorter take off and landing, and steep climb out, and steep landing (for noise abatement reasons on the ground below)
The E190s used to have 98 seats but now with the extra 8, the seats at the back have nowhere near as much legroom and with more passengers there’s less overhead locker space so more gate checked bags plus on some days to some destinations in certain weather conditions before the extra seats and passengers luggage was left behind for weight reasons some destinations needed luggage and passengers to be off, loaded, I can see some unhappy people using BACF for some of the holiday flights when that happens more. Now that there’s an extra member of cabin crew 3 As opposed to 2 previously as passenger capacity is over 100 it’s rumoured that there’s enough staff to run the Buy on Board refreshments but for the time are complimentary including drinks from the bar. I prefer to fly from Heathrow and back into London City despite living in Stratford with the Elizabeth Line direct to Heathrow making it easier and and higher airport fees departing London City and lack of lounge off putting.
I don’t believe there was anything to buy onboard during this flight, as it was so short. Thanks again for the suggestion, I hope you enjoy the reviews overall.
Flew LCY to NCE in Biz only because it was much cheaper than Biz from LHR. LCY airport is a dump with far too much walking if you have to park at the far end of the car park. The terminal itself gets very busy and lacks basic facilities like adequate toilets for example. The aircraft Biz config is not worth it and most economy passengers were coming through to use the loo without any word from the crew anyway. Luckily I was travelling with my son so the lack of a blocked off middle seat like the 320 didn’t matter. Only the steep takeoff and landing was fun but I won’t bother with LCY again.
@@nimedave I do agree to be fair, LCY is certainly setup just to get people through as quickly as possible, and if your fine with that then it works perfectly, if your like me and feel that everything contributes to the experience, like the airport, and staff and lounges etc, etc, then London city is certainly not going to deliver on that. Thank you for watching and taking the time to share your experience. 😀👍
@@GavTheFlyGuy If you feel that way about LCY then you should never fly out of LGW. I would call LCY a premium experience from start to finish, but I don't need a lot of frills. I just need everything to work as intended.
Its nice seeing someone like yourself travel for business whilst recording too what a busy man
Extremely busy !
@@GavTheFlyGuy Keep up the good work man, I love what you do it seems like an amazing job. Have a great day

No problem. If you're back in Scotland again I'll give you a wave! 👋🏴
To be a right old pedant ... you were walking alongside the George V dock. The Albert is the other side of the runway. I'll get me coat ...
haha I realised this soon after publishing the video, I didn't think anyone would actually notice it, so I didn't change it - Damn you McKenna ;)

There are currently no direct flights from LCY to Paris Orly or Paris Charles de Gaulle. Where do you change planes when flying LCY to Paris?
@@armychap007 it appears that there are currently no flights from LCY to Orly, which is a shame.

Lufthansa gives you a full bottle of water and some sweets on innercountry and short haul flights :))
they do indeed, I meant more of a drinks trolley that you can pick your own tipple 😀

The Geven Essenza seats haven’t been fitted yet, these are the original Zodiac seats.

Offers no value for money for BA business class flights.
indeed, there is probably no point fly these in business class.
