Glad to see Katie looking well! I had no idea there were that many expats in Montenegro. I am definitely looking into retirement there as an alternative to Albania. Many thanks for another informative video!
Yes, there are plenty of long-term rentals outside of Airbnb. I can put you in touch with a wonderful realtor that can help with that if you are interested. Please feel free to email warrenjulietravel@gmail.com.
$1170 doesn't cover rent because they own their home. Still $2400 ($1200 for rent) to replicate that lifestyle in Europe is a good value. I would be interested in a comparison video between Montenegro and Albania since these seem to be the 2 most popular expat trends in Europe currently.
We have not yet done a comparison video on Albania and Montenegro. We have considered it. It is possible to rent something for as little as approximately $400.00 per month depending on exchange rates. Some of the more southern regions are less expensive than Kotor Bay and Tivat.
Our car is registered in Bulgaria therefore I can tell you what we pay in car insurance in Bulgaria and that is about $300 per year www.warrenjulietravel.com/noneucitizenvehicleregistration
For years all I heard from people moving from the US was "Portugal", there was some kind of Portuguese mania, now that seems to be dying down due to immigration changes there and I am now starting to frequently hear Montenegro mentioned by a ton of people. I hope the country's Real estate and cost of living does not start to skyrocket and negatively affect the native citizens there, that would be another sad outcome just like what has happened in Portugal.
We love Montenegro and have loved it since 2016, so for us, we prefer Montenegro. Albania has its own charms, but the beauty of Montenegro is unmatched.
@@WarrenJulieTravel how is Montenegro in Dec? I know it's cold, but what areas would you recommend for the winter (that are opened). I have more time off in Dec to explore the area. Thank you!!
December is a sleepy time for this little country, but several cafes remain open in many areas. I recommend Tivat area as well as Dobrota and even Herceg Novi. Budva has many places that remain open as well.
We did not mention those as we have mentioned them in several other videos, but they are extremely reasonable. Our yearly property tax is about $300, our condo fees are currently $0 and our property insurance is $464 for the year. I have created a webpage for international pet travel with links to all of our resources. We did bring our dogs from the US to Serbia initially. www.warrenjulietravel.com/essentialtravelresources/internationalpettravel
Hi Julie and Warren I thought i had typed out and sent a message already a day or two ago but had no response so decided to look for my original message and i cant find anything. Something must have gone wrong. I am single 63 planning possible 8 week trip to Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and back to Serbia where i would fly in and out of. I thought travel in clockwise direction in May and June. My biggest worry is i dont know what exact sights to see yet and how long in each place. With your expertise on the area could i book accommodation the first and last nights in advance but book as i go at that time of year. I am worried about peak season and having nowhere to sleep or at extortionate rates blowing out the budget. Any suggestions on this trip from you or anyone else watching would be very much appreciated.
The high season in these areas will be in July and August. If you travel in May and June, you should be able to get better prices. If you plan to stay in any of these places for a full month, I do suggest you book well in advance. It would be a good idea to book your accommodations ahead of time in Montenegro. Sometimes, the season begins as early as June.
Sounds really great! I am a new subscriber. By any chance, have covered the process on how to be a resident in Montenegro (paperwork requirements, etc.) and healthcare system (hospitalization, clinic visit, etc.)? Thanks!

LOL your 'rocking' back and forth in your seat makes me feel like I am on a boat!! Thanks for the info.. I forget, how long can you stay as a tourist if you are not sure if you want to be a resident? And if you do want to be a resident, is there an income requirement if you are retired?
Funny thing is I did not even realize I was doing it! Katy likes that so I guess I was subconsciously rocking, lol. Sorry! You can stay 90 days every 180 days. You have to show 3650 euros in a bank account, but you do not need to show an income. Thanks for watching. We were in Montenegro for 3 weeks in summer and do love it there and are thinking of moving. We have been in Mexico for last 7 years retired from Canada but looking for golf so I heard they are building a new course in Lustica. Is there another course in Montenegro and when is the one in Lustica Bay going to be done? thanks
Montenegro is a beautiful country! This is the only golf course in the entire country and the plan is to have the driving range done as well as the first three holes in the next 11 months. The next goal is to get the next 9 holes done, so expect about two years for the entire course. If you are coming to Montenegro and if you are looking at real estate let us know and we will put you in touch with the right people. We would also love to meet up if we are in the area at the same time. Thanks for watching.

Hi guys, I follow your channel and I’m in your Facebook group . I just saw the above video and I am very interested if I don’t go to Ecuador with its power problems I would love to live in Montenegro and I do have a little medium size dog, but can you expand on Social Security going up in 2025. I haven’t read that anywhere? I’m 59 not on it yet but very much looking forward to it in the next three years
Healthcare in Montenegro is adequate, with various healthcare facilities available throughout the country. While it may not be considered top-tier, we have had positive experiences that met our needs. The healthcare system may not offer the same level of service as more developed countries, but it is functional and generally provides the care required for everyday health concerns.
@@ParisianThinker it doesn’t make the top grades, however there are a lot of people in the country in their 70’s and 80’s so it really depends on the person and needs. Dubrovnik, Tirana, and Belgrade are within reach.
Thanks! Great content as always ❤
Thank you so much 😁

Great video. What's the average temperature in Kotor in the winter?
The coldest temperature in our area is generally around 5*C (40F) but generally in the 50's.

90 days every 180 days just like an American passport
Hi there.. just to confirm, to retire there, you can purchase a home and renew the temporary permit annually but it will not lead to PR? TIA
It can lead to PR with the corporation. Please feel free to contact us at warrenjulietravel@gmail.com for more information.

Seems the $1170 did not included your rent or mortgage payment. (?)
@@freeradical1567 if you watch we mentioned we own our home. We give examples of rental cost.
And that's $1170 for two people! Maybe 1/3 less for a single person?
Are you saying that SSI will be taxed in Montenegro?
@@janiceweisberg1725it’s not SSI, it’s social security, two completely different programs.
Without rent! It’s NOT cheap. Much better value in Romania, Bulgaria, Poland & Serbia for example. Montenegro is not cheap
Do they tax personal foreign income from USA?
They focus on taxing income made in Montenegro, not income from the US.

It is not as low as Southeast Asia, but for Europe it is very reasonable.
So you can only stay there for 90 days every 180 days, just like Schengen?
This is correct. There are paths to residency that are not very difficult.
