Smart ForTwo 450 Suspension Overhaul - New Springs, Shock Absorbers And Top Mounts
Legends! Remember that time when my Smart ForTwo 450 went bang? I do ... thankfully Dad was on hand to rebuild the entire engine. But we didn't touch the suspension.
The series is on the Channel ... But if you fancy more smart car woes ... here it is.
After a recent video trying to diagnose gearbox faults ... Dad noticed a knocking from the rear of the car and discovered the rear control arm bushes were totally broken. Dad also noticed that the front of the car sat very very low. We decided that new shock absorbers were needed.
This video is the full process - Day 1 & 2 in a handy 1 hour video.

@@JonCoupland I know that feeling of trying to avoid it though! A guy walked past whilst I had the front end off mine the other day (MOT eve!) and goes 'Big job broke out!?' - "Yeah" I said. "Changing the sidelight bulb!"

It's rare that I do sell anything but when I do I advertise on Car and Classic
A doable job. However where could one get the correct spring compressors for these springs.
We have suggested it might be easier with 3
be careful jon that the legend does not rebuild you or you could be lincs answer to the six million dollar man
I could do with new springs and dampners!
