Ghast BusterGaming Yeah, there are way too many nay-sayers out there. Even The Know expressed their doubts, but the thing that a majority of these people fail to remember is shit like airplanes once being considered impossible before.
It's a shame that the presentation was so tame; it sounded very insecure and not pumped up at all. The way he ends it doesn't seem like a good way to round up your presentation. The game looks great and the gameplay interesting, though. I will pick this up once it's released.
boyd willemsen I love that guy. He seems so relaxed in all of his interviews and whatnot. Like you said, he doesn't spice things up or blow them out of proportion. He seems to be relaxed and says it as he thinks it. I think I even heard him talk bad about certain points in his game before. We need more game devs and stage people like him rather than these douchebags on screen reading a shitty script they've been practicing for days on end. Also from what I've seen, this is the only LIVE gameplay from E3 this year thus far. And you can tell because he's trying to focus on both the game and the job at hand like regular live commentators. This guy keeps shit real. Socially awkward or not, I like him.
To all people: I'm not hating on this guy. He seems like a nice person. And yes, I know it's an Indie company. But this is the E3: probably one of the most important places to be as a dev. You need to show off your game in a great way. They did show a lot of gameplay, which I'm thankful of. And yes, it looks great and I'm glad that an Indie dev got to make such an incredible game. But you need to get the crowd moving, especially with a game that doesn't contain a lot of action. Games like "The Last Guardian" have such a reputation that they don't need to tell much about it, but No Man's Sky is a newcomer. It could have been more bombastic or enthouthiastic, because to me it sounded very insecure and very hastely put together.
What people aren't taking into account here is that this isn't some triple AAA title. This is a fucking indie title!!! Holy shit. For an indie title, I would definitely buy this game. And seeing how indie games are hardly ever $60, we'll probably be able to get this game for $40 maximum!
TACnumb It's not infinite, sadly, there's just more content there than people could discover in the near future. Modeling Earth into the game just to run the risk of nobody ever finding it seems like a huge waste of time.
BIGREDXXXL This technology is not new, there are many other games/softwares that can do this also, those companies just didn't turn them into big games or anything. Some also use real scientific data to generate planets, solar systems, and galaxies that could actually be real.
***** It's not new at all. 3 decades ago Elite used the same technique to fit 8 small galaxies into 32k of memory, and in 1993 its sequel had full scale seamless planetary landing with a galaxy of millions of solar systems. The concept of creating/destroying content on the fly is old, the graphics and substance (ie. what you can do with it) are improving over time.
***** Does that mean you could never go to the same planet twice because it doesnt save it? Or do you just mean that the game only constructs the data once you start approaching it?
If I'm being honest, this is the game that will have me purchasing a PS4. I have an Xbox One already, was torn between which console I was going to get since I hadn't been in Playstation gaming since the PS2. This, though, is going to get me to go back to owning both consoles.
Or just play it on PC and save yourself a few hundred dollars? Like, I'd be surprised if you needed a "gaming PC" to run this game. For example, my shitty PC from 2010 runs a game like Skyrim just as well, if not better than my 360 does. And if we scale this up to a project like No Mans Sky on the PS4 (a stretch, but bear with me here) with a recent-ish computer, it should run perfectly fine.
Miles Brooks Oh, well damn I was misinformed. I didn't know it was coming to PC. -Just looked it up, what I should have done, and nevermind then. I have a gaming rig already. Love my beastly PC... guess i'll be playing it here. Though, a lot of the time it's more of a preference of where I play. Just like Elite Dangerous apparently on it's way to Xbone... so I haven't bought it on PC since I think I want to play it on Xbox one. Not sure yet.
Best Bi I'd recommend it on pc since it isn't really a sofa game as far as I can tell and it's being up close and feeling immersed and surrounded by the game that makes it good.
Please oh please add in easter eggs like Earth! or planets from other shows or games lol it would be amazing! but they will take for ever or may never be found XD but still makes it more cool to know you have a possibility of finding them
Lol i know they dont they're generated thats why there isnt a loading screen LOL! why dont they use aspect as the other planets with a controlled generated area ment to create earth like planets or planet earth in there dev stage
Lucky bon They don't do that for the sake of Sci-fi. They say they can, but what reason would there be to go to other planets if every planet had as much variety as Earth. That's why they have a planet with one color scheme and season, and another planet with a different one. Maybe there is something similar to Earth out there in the 15 quintillion planets.
My interest has re-sparked for this game. I just want to know if my buddies and I can conquer and hold down an entire solar system for resources. I want to be the covenant in this game.
Why are people saying this game doesn't look as good as they expected?! It's been a very long time since a game like this has come along where they announce it with just a few details and tell us what it's about...then they later expanded on those things. I haven't seen anything disappointing and I am extremely excited about it, which I haven't been about a game for many years! Only thing I'm worried about is with the size. No doubt it is huge but I would like a mixture of explored and unexplored places and I think they may struggle to find that balance as it just depends on how many people get the game. That and the fact that there's things like Sentinels and Beacons etc. on an unexplored planet...the first one to explore it should have the option of placing a beacon.
I believe people are getting the wrong impression of this game, its not supposed to be something most gamer will play for hours (unless your into that kind of thing) but its supposed to be an experience for the type of gameplay they where trying to achieve, its kinda like minecraft in a way, but not exactly as i don't believe you will be building stuff for hours and hours and the environments will be different in some ways, but i believe that many will be similar given the amount of planets there will be. I see thing game as some what of an art experience, in the same way that I saw journey (the game).
Mentalpatient87 Week worth of entertainment and you're complaining? Go to a movie theater, you'll probably spend half for 2 hours of entertainment... Go out with friends? You'll probably spend 50 bucks for a nights worth, and you complain about paying 60 bucks for a weeks worth?
+Allen Nnaji actualy if everyone that gets this game explores 1 planet every second it would take about a couple billion years no joke the makers did the math there are like 18 quintillion planets
I suspect this game when released will be very good, maybe a 8 or 9 out of 10. If it's fully moddable however...well it could very well be one of the best games ever made. I can imagine a whole bunch of survival, immersion and building mods that would just make this perfect for me personally. Oh...and a few humanoid npcs walking about would be nice..
What sets this game and Elite apart? No Man's Sky has planet landing, and all the elements that go along with planet landing. The only reason No Man's Sky can do this while Elite doesn't is because they scale the continents down so a continent is the size of a Battlefield map. twinmill97 I think it's just you. Just think about it a little harder comparing the size of your player, and the diameter of the planet. If we are using the player as a reference, it's much bigger than a battlefield map.
SweetKiguBro Well huge procedural generated universes like this are kind of something from retro space-trading games like Elite, so that part is very doable. However, whether or not they can make such a universe interesting and enjoyable to play in and explore is the question.
Put it: More ships, upgradable parts, Houses, Clans, pirates, factions...take the best from freelancer and stalker and melt into the no man sky and you hit the pot, baby
i really cannot wrap my mind around this game. how can they have such a large world, with places the programers don't even know of? are parts of the game randomly generated? if so, how are they pulling this off? does this game run online via a cloud or something?
The game looks massive and impressive but somehow I can't help but feel like it's going to be a huge bore after a week or so of playing... Doesn't look there is much to do on the game except exploring a bunch of planets which were obviously randomly generated... There should be more... An objective of some sort... Maybe the management of your own found planets... The creation of your own multi-planetary faction or even empire... The war between other empires...... Something like an awesome Space Minecraft type of shit... I don't know much about this game yet but I haven't ever heard about anything else other than how fucking big the "map" is and how you can explore all these planets full of life and shoot the occasional flying turd ._. If that's all it has to offer then it will be fun for a few days and then it will get old and people will move on until the modding community does something interesting with it? Maybe?... I'm glad I'm not on the hype train for this one. Maybe when it comes out it will surprise me!
+TheDezembro well 1st off the goal is too go to the center of the universe 2nd off there is tons to do you can be a space pirate a trader a scientist out to discover creatures a protector of or the massive space traders
The overall ideology and concept of this game altogether are fresh and interesting, but it's the mechanics that worry me. The shooting looks awkward, the environment's destruction animation looks unsatisfying and the player movement without the ship looks way too slow for an exploration game like this. Still hoping for the best but this presentation was not very convincing.
I think this is going to be a great game, but the people saying "Don't dis the game because x amount of people are making it" are absolutely wrong. All they are doing is lowering expectations, and that will not make the game any better.
Tyotee43 I am chill. Sorry for the salt, but I don't think any game developer with any kind of moral compass should be charging hundreds of dollars for space ships that are not even currently playable in the game. I think their priorities are all messed up, and I think the game lacks the kind of large-scale ambition that space sci-fi really needs. No Man's Sky, Elite Dangerous, Starbound. These are all good examples of space sci-fi games. I love games, and gaming is my passion and future career. I just don't like the greedy/lazy aspect to a lot of devs and their producers.
zippo504 So it seems you haven't looked at the game much, and that is allright, I didnt either until a short while ago. Star Citizen has as much ambition as No Mans Sky (While they both achieve different goals and neither are really alike), and more than Elite Dangerous honestly. Now that isnt a bad thing. Also Elite Dangerous, when in Alpha (SC is in Pre-Alpha), ED charged $250 to $300 for just access to the game, where to gain access to SC, the price to play is $45. Purchasing other ships is not necessary, but it helps fund the project, as it is all crowd funded. Now all games are different in their own ways, but I encourage you to look into SC more. But I am so HYPED for No Mans Sky!
Anyone else think the cracks are beginning to show on this? Combat looks shonky and tacked on, and the game just looks like a big aquarium where the grass changes colour on different planets. Free roaming games where I get to kind of create a story on the go would rely on a vast array of mechanics, none of which have been shown off. Still. Very vague, and I'm beginning to think this guy is a bullshit salesman. I hope I'm wrong and that this is awesome, but this game is not screaming "fuck yes" like it was in the beginning.
Hmm it looks cool I'll admit, but scepticism is always good for the consumer. Wait and see how it turns out before throwing money at another "promising" looking game.
+Necra Mancie True, but the open world mechanics and ability for the players to shape the game for bad or good is what makes EVE stand above most other scifi MMO's
I see you a lot in the comments, and you're always mad about exclusives Star Citizen, No mans Sky, etc. If you are really mad about these, I suggest you get a PS4 at least. If you wanna go turbo, get a PC. PS4 is the superior console anyway.
LOL Indies That shit looked so boring. What are ppl seeing? I'm calling it now that game will be big, but shallow. Ppl will get bored of it within a week.
This seems very repetitive. Find planet, look at it upload beacon. leave or stay. nothing much to see anyways. go to another planet. shoot some kiddie lasers at other players. Rinse and repeat. I don't know about this game.
They should have given him more time, this is one of the reasons ppl where excited about E3 this year.. At least 30min..
Thuto Moloi
At least 15 would have been nice, though they are doing more interviews this week so we'll probably get to see more "live" gameplay.
BANG! yea hope so
I'm going to believe in this game, take a leap of faith, and throw my money at it.
JellyJamStudios Wouldn't be much money anyway.
Ghast BusterGaming Yeah, there are way too many nay-sayers out there. Even The Know expressed their doubts, but the thing that a majority of these people fail to remember is shit like airplanes once being considered impossible before.

boyd willemsen he said he had limited time but wanted to say a lot. he was answering common questions about the game at the end
He's really awkward around people, you can tell
Skarnageable The point is, they should have a better spokesman for these kind of events.
boyd willemsen I love that guy. He seems so relaxed in all of his interviews and whatnot. Like you said, he doesn't spice things up or blow them out of proportion. He seems to be relaxed and says it as he thinks it. I think I even heard him talk bad about certain points in his game before.

But does it have advanced fish AI?
Lmao
Chetsada Like what ?
Ante Blašković Gee I dunno. How about them knowing to flap their jaws up and down and knowing to keep awkwardly staring?
Joshua W There are agressive/small/big/fat/skinny/good/colorfull/weird/earthlike/peacefull fishes. This is just a tiny tiny portion of the game.
Ante Blašković
But can they blend?
What people aren't taking into account here is that this isn't some triple AAA title. This is a fucking indie title!!! Holy shit. For an indie title, I would definitely buy this game. And seeing how indie games are hardly ever $60, we'll probably be able to get this game for $40 maximum!
Even if expectations are lowered, that still doesn't make it a good game.
I wanted to say something about them, but TH-cam was being a dick at the time and wouldn't let me comment on anything. So that's great.
it'll be awesome if the devs sneak in the earth
Carson Chiu haha yooo i thought the same thing...sneak our solar system in there lol
Carson Chiu Someone get this man to the top of this fucking VIDEO! DEVS MUST DO THIS
Since its basically an infinite universe it's impossible for the earth not to be there
TACnumb It's not infinite, sadly, there's just more content there than people could discover in the near future. Modeling Earth into the game just to run the risk of nobody ever finding it seems like a huge waste of time.
he said it's "basically" infinite....and it would be an awesome idea
Galactic Freighter Simulator
I can't wait.
give craft, housing, trading, big server, and they make the best day over all
None of this is in the game.
This reminds me a LOT of Spore's space stage, and I like that very much.
This reminds me a bit of Eve Online and Dust 514.
This game will revolutionizing the way you can explore worlds.

Little did any of you know, a few algorithms are not original, and are based off of the superformula.
Yeah, but the cool thing would be a game like this but realistic where you can find planets like the alien nostromo planet....
Inter atmosphere gaming is a dream! Love the concept so much!
So this is, basically, the space stage from Maxis' Spore without the other crappy stages. Am I right?
+elPumaProductions with WAY MORE TO DO
amazing i just hope we can see some wonderfull things like Black Holes, Nebulas, Giant gas planets, or Quasars, that will be insane!!
it will take me 100 years to discover all the planets
that FOV
I CANNOT WAIT for this game to come out. It looks fucking amazing.
If I'm being honest, this is the game that will have me purchasing a PS4. I have an Xbox One already, was torn between which console I was going to get since I hadn't been in Playstation gaming since the PS2. This, though, is going to get me to go back to owning both consoles.

They don't create these by hand, so it would be near impossible to see Earth. However, considering the scale, it might be out there somewhere.
Lol i know they dont they're generated thats why there isnt a loading screen LOL! why dont they use aspect as the other planets with a controlled generated area ment to create earth like planets or planet earth in there dev stage

18*
Ante Blašković I haven't looked at the number in a while, so I couldn't remember.
that moment when everyone goes crazy because of the size of the universe
Reminds me about the Elite-series. Hope it will look better than this though.
My interest has re-sparked for this game. I just want to know if my buddies and I can conquer and hold down an entire solar system for resources. I want to be the covenant in this game.

"This game is massive." So? Is it fun? Is there anything interesting to do in this "massive" world? Am I going to play it for more than a week?
Sam Hoyek Paying 60 bucks for a week's worth of entertainment sounds fair enough for me.
nico641 Fuuuuck that. There's much better value to be had in gaming than that.
Mentalpatient87 I spent 2000 hours on dota for free.
Sam Hoyek Hahahaha, MOBAs.
watched this listening to the godfather theme. fits pretty well
gana take 30 years of gameplay to explore this universe
+Allen Nnaji actualy if everyone that gets this game explores 1 planet every second it would take about a couple billion years no joke the makers did the math there are like 18 quintillion planets
mike gibbs My God.... And it only took a few years to make this game
Feels like SPORE, except way better quality.
all i want to say is one thing 'Beautiful'
I like games with no points to me this looks like a massive game with war where there r probably millions of factions fighting about
I suspect this game when released will be very good, maybe a 8 or 9 out of 10. If it's fully moddable however...well it could very well be one of the best games ever made. I can imagine a whole bunch of survival, immersion and building mods that would just make this perfect for me personally. Oh...and a few humanoid npcs walking about would be nice..
that map looks like the eve map.
What sets this game and Elite apart? No Man's Sky has planet landing, and all the elements that go along with planet landing. Elite would not have this because they stress having a 1:1 galaxy, so everything has to be realistic.
The planets are around Earth sized, so they are not Battlefield maps.
just watch the entry again. The continents turn into medium sized islands. It is definitely not a 1:1 scale, but that doesn't make it bad.
twinmill97 I think it's just you. Just think about it a little harder comparing the size of your player, and the diameter of the planet. If we are using the player as a reference, it's much bigger than a battlefield map.
Every time they try and explain what this game is it sounds impossible. I'm wary of what the peddler is peddlin.

First person SPORE
He didnt say if its multiplayer or not
I hope that this game will run smooooth on my 1080p...with my specs : 16GB RAM , i7 4710HQ and 980M 4GB. :)
ma questo gioco è ambientato in una galassia o nell'universo con taaaaante galassie???
Right I'm quitting life so I can play this game FOREVER!
So I get the game is cool but why? What is the point of exploring? Can you actually build anything?
ShadowZeal Watch all the trailers and some interviews, you'll undertsand :)
Jan Okapi The game for me looks good but just exploration is a bit pointless :/
ShadowZeal you can destroy it!!
Commander Leopard But you can't build a home or anything, it's just endless exploration
ShadowZeal I believe it's a bit more like Grow Home. Mostly exploration, that's it
I hate the scan-lines and vignette effects, they add nothing.
Imagine if you did enough damage to the environment to get a whole army of those sentinels after you!
Soon.
Looks like it will be discount Star Citizen.
I hope this eventually gets an Xbox release
So this is Spore?
The game looks massive and impressive but somehow I can't help but feel like it's going to be a huge bore after a week or so of playing...

is it me or does this "random" planet just look the same as the other planet last year?

*Silently judges loyalty to Chris Roberts
(Star Citizen)
Tyotee43 why not both ( and elite dangerous)?
kor'vre Because Star Citizen is a hoax, a scam. Elite Dangerous is a least legit though.

meanwhile in destiny after 2 expansion you only got 3 planets and 1 moon LMAO
Needs Oculus support....
Will it be on both consoles?
***** Simultaneous PS4 and PC release was announced tonight; no data on Xbox One release.
The One Galen In an interview he said there was no plan for it to come out on Xbox for now.
hope its not as disappointing as MAG
No fish Ai? Screw this.
3:14 Suomi mainittu. Torilla Tavataan
I'm just gonna role play star wars.
is this destiny srly
Hope we can blow up whole planets with our spaceships
We can't
COD fanboys in the comments section be like: HERP DERP ERMAGHERD DIS JUS EXPLORASION WIT NO OBJECTIV! shut up......
StevieGerrard123 People are used to linear games and shoot everything. I was expecting these type of cod fanboys comments. Hahaha
The most underrated game I have ever seen in the build up
is this game coming out to xbox one
+caq barkey nope sorry
FeelsBadMan
I still think EVE Online is going to outpace anything like this
+Patrick Moran But EVE Online isn't new person friendly and full of toxicity...
+Necra Mancie True, but the open world mechanics and ability for the players to shape the game for bad or good is what makes EVE stand above most other scifi MMO's
Just skip this game and download SpaceEngine (google it).
Julian B Well, spaceEngine is a very beautiful game, buuuuuuut it does not have survival, upgradeable ships and suits, and multiplayer. sooooo no.
Mika Schultz and this game does? Lol, total marketing BS.
Yes, this game has these things. Not marketing bs
Games looks cool. The guy presenting was horrendous.
Massive but not convinsing
Carlos Guijón convincing*
Carlos Guijón Why ?
What is up with that ugly red scanlines all over the image?
Basically, too big lol. For this point in time.
So is this ever coming to Xbox 1?
Alien4131 propably not but PC
It is coming to Xbox One later than PS4 and PC.
I see you a lot in the comments, and you're always mad about exclusives Star Citizen, No mans Sky, etc. If you are really mad about these, I suggest you get a PS4 at least. If you wanna go turbo, get a PC. PS4 is the superior console anyway.
Daanish Ahmad
PS4 doesn't have backwards compatibility or mods for Fallout 4. Xbox 1 has its uses
Kyle Voeller its not for now, they never said in any of the articles or interview it was coming to Xbox One for now.
First Person Spore...
So you discover planets, fly, and shoot robots into pixels. Not a good e3 reveal! Sure I saw this when it was first revealed but with less stars lol
a massive failure
Это щедевр,бля!!Я в ахуе вообще.
Sentinels? Wtf?
This game seems nice as it seems boring as fuck.
LOL Indies
That shit looked so boring.
Whats the point haha
This look so bad. Boring boring boring
