    Finding a vegan dude in general (let alone someone I have chemistry with) is like searching for a unicorn where I live. So happy you found each other

Someday within the next few months I'll have a channel of my own talking on similar points that you've been speaking on (veganism, exercise, loving life, etc.) I've learned quite a bit about calisthenics and what to expect in my workouts because of you Derek. Thank you both so much! You are both very appreciated :)

    6:35 thanks for the answer. i like how you did it by figuring out the way you like it. i got kind of bored and overwhelmed reading 50 things online telling me i need to do this and eat that and do 20 different rituals on how to gain muscle, i felt like im not going to be able to do all these so why even try but seeing you as proof that just doing anything as an exercise is enough made me see the reality through all that marketing shit. i like your content high quality and realistic and your recipes also. keep making videos if you also have fun making them they are great

    immune cells like white blood cells are involved in the growth and repair of muscles after a workout, if you workout when your body is trying to fight off an infection youre only putting more stress on your immune system and it'll take you longer to recover from both the workout and sickness

    You guys are great together, comfortable. You could do a vid walking in the woods, or in beneficial stretches especially for the muscles you work often, shoulders, back, abdominals, hip flexors. Sitting isn't that comfortable, or healthy, it looks like that chair is too slouchy. Check out Katy Bowman's book, Movement Matters. She also lives in the PNW like us, in Sequim, WA. She took all the furniture out of her house, so there was more room to move, squat, lunge, get up and down from the floor. She does have cushions on the floor, but her family (two kids and husband), mostly squat when eating, like asian cultures who don't have as much hip, knee, and ankle disfunction as us Westerners who sit in chairs do.
    With the soy, I think it's important to add looking for organic/non-GMO. Soy is heavily genetically modified, and fed to cattle, which is possible that it's a common allergen.
    Loving your videos, even simple, informative ones like these! I also love hearing about how you just started doing pullups/pushups as your primary workout, and running sprinting in the woods. Simplicity is best. It's funny and crazy how much we humans complicate things! Loving your tshirt, and you and Crystal, and your message! Sending you both a hug!

    I'm disappointed because my question about farts was not addressed. Even after 6-7 years of being vegan I'm still having serious issues with gasses. Beans, peas, chickpeas, lentils, oat, mallet, etc. it all cause serious gasses for me, I fart constantly, entire hour or even 2 hours after meal. Imagine constant farting with pauses of 1-2 minutes. I don't know what to do! You may think I'm trolling or joking, but I'm very serious! Soaking is not helping at all, but I didn't try without soaking over night, can't risk it, gasses would probably kill me.

    • @patricialarsson2344
      @patricialarsson2344 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That does not sound funny at all.. ! Have you tried not to mix to many different kinds of food together at the same time? It could be the blend that you are sensetive to.. For example I can eat nuts and apples together but nuts and dates make me really bloated.. And I don't know why, it's just the way it is for me..

    • @codergames
      @codergames 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course I have tried, I never actually combine anything. When I eat green peas, I eat green peas, when I eat beans, I eat beans, etc. The list I mentioned was just naming the food I eat, it didn't mean I eat all of those at the same time, I honestly don't know how you could have possibly understood that in such a way.

    • @patricialarsson2344
      @patricialarsson2344 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, haha of course I didn't get it that wrong.. I just meant that a meal is often a combination of several different things, and sometimes it's the combination that your body can't handle.. I get that you don't eat all of those things that you mentioned at the same time lol..

    • @codergames
      @codergames 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, if all of those are causing flatulence for me, what is the solution, is there a solution?

    • @patricialarsson2344
      @patricialarsson2344 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure really.. Hope somebody has another answer for you, the different combinations of food is the only thing I can think of, but if you already eat mono meals then that can't be the issue..

  • @TheUtuber999
    @TheUtuber999 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Guys,
    Love the page. I work offshore but when I return home on my time off I'm gonna try hard to transition into a vegan diet. I have a very busy lifestyle and I do prep a lot of my food for at least 4 days in advance ... Could you guys do a video on prepping a vegan diet please???
    I always find if I prep and the food in there in the fridge I will eat it and not be tempted to eat junk.
    Cheers
    Marc

    • @VegaChastain
      @VegaChastain 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fruits don't need a lot of prep, I eat a lot of those! With veggies I float my lettuce (chop and cover with water), but most of the veggies I leave whole b/c they don't spoil as fast that way. I find the things I need to prep are any grains or seeds I'm wanting to sprout - gotta do that at least every other day. Sprouts aren't the easiest but WOW so much energy!! When I have sprout salads or juice sprouts I feel like my muscles are breaking through!! lol Good luck, I'm bad about turning towards the 'easy' too, just try it and see how good you feel. It really is worth it for your health, attitude, sleep cycle, skin, everything!! :)

    Thanks for the info on intermittent fasting. If you see it as beneficial with the experience and knowledge of nutrition you have, then it must be okay to do. It took me a while, lol Vegetable Police's experiment, to even try it. I love it. I am still getting used to remembering to eat enough in my feeding period. I am getting better though. No weight loss in a month of doing it. I weigh 155lbs at 72" tall 21 bmi. But I feel more energy and strength. I think it's time for me to face another pull up challenge. What do you think?

    Hey Derek, I recently adopted your weighted, drop set push/pull days and I felt extremely sore the next couple of days after and it felt awesome but now with this being my second round after my rest day (push/pull rest..) I did the same weight, same number of sets until failure but I dont feel sore the next day. I hope it wasnt a wasted workout. Any answer as to why this is or a tip on what to do? Does soreness = a successful workout?

    I know I'm pretty late to the game on this one, but what exactly is the issue with GMOs? The science that I've seen states that genetically modifying produce to contain genetic pesticides as well as other traits to insure bountiful harvests don't have a negative impact on the human body. In addition, genetic pesticides and herbicides actually reduce the amount of chemicals needed to be used on the actual crops themselves, so in a way organic foods likely contain more dangerous pesticides on the crops themselves, unless of course you grow them yourself and don't use them. I could understand if I've been mislead, but I have yet to see convincing evidence that organic foods provide better, safer, or healthier nutrition than do GMO crops.

    • @VegaChastain
      @VegaChastain 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Who conducted / paid for those studies?? Ever think what that revolving door between the FDA and Monsanto means? Look at how the use of herbicides per acre / pesticides per acre has INCREASED in the production of genetically modified plants... also the leftover DNA from the GM organisms can have a lasting impact on our digestive tract bacteria (which is the seat of our immune system). The 'people' modifying these organisms are not doing it for our health or for the reduction of the very products that they themselves are trying to sell... it's not always the nutrition profile that matters when you're talking about what is grown on a global scale. Most of those GMO crops (soy, wheat, canola) are fed to livestock, who then bioaccumulate the glyphosate / pesticides / estrogen-based herbicides into their muscle tissue, which people then consume. Constituents from these toxic chemicals are manifesting in an epidemic of chronic conditions and ailments - so people then consume more chemical toxins (pharmaceuticals) to alleviate said symptoms... and who is profiting the whole time? The chemical giants Dow, Glaxo Smith Kline, Bayer, Monsanto... and the FDA says that's fine!! But be afraid of these adaptogenic herbs over here or those mushrooms over there! lol oh the humanity...

    Hey you didn't reply to my question!
    Was wondering if you could just reply me here!
    How much natural sugars should we consume in a day?

    • @harshalvanikar7387
      @harshalvanikar7387 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noah 31er yes i was talking about sugars from fruits, dry fruits etc!
      Thank you so much for the reply!
      Can sugars from fruits lead to diabetes?

      harshal vanikar Sugar doesn't cause diabetes. Look up dr Neal Barnard how to reverse diabetes.

      Rupesh Patel wow, this doc is so knowledgeable ! I saw one of his ted talks! He is witty, talks sense!
      Thank you for the suggestion Rupesh!

      harshal vanikar I have seen the Ted talk as well. I like the way he talks and the things he says make sense like the fact that sugar consumption went don't, cheese and meat consumption went up and diabetes followed.

      harshal vanikar He has made some major changes like changing the USA diet guidelines. The no longer have meat on the 'food plate'. Unfortunately they still recommend dairy and they are not pushing people to stop consuming meat.
      His website is PCRM.org

    my question is do you drink coffee?

  • @jeanneanne458
    @jeanneanne458 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok what if you are someone who most definitely cannot consume a lot of food. Like only a cup. I'm a new vegan about two and half months and I'm concerned I'm not getting balanced. Most of your info is for the average normal person. I'm torn on supplements obviously because I can fit enough foods in. What do I do? I have a really weird taste in my mouth no matter how much I brush. WTH is that?
