    Thanks for pointing out that the color will change over time on human hair wigs. I did not know this when I purchased my first wig last year and is so good for new wig wearers to know. I spent the big bucks on a light brown with baby lights but a couple months later the whole thing was strawberry blonde. Took it to a stylist that dyed it back a medium brown, and now it is a dark cherry-ish. The fibers feel nice but the maintenance doesn’t seem worth it to me and I’ve jumped on the synthetic bandwagon and really love them now. Thanks for the tips on keeping them looking great.

    Human hair is the best for me personally. In spite of having to restyle or some color change, they look more real to me, feel more real to me & last much longer. One of my HH wigs I toss into a drawer every night. When I put it on the next day it looks fine.

    Thank. You. I have never had thick hair. I remember my cousins barely being able to get a hair tie around a ponytail twice, meanwhile I'm having to go around 6..7..8 times! Then comes pregnancies, stress of my husband's cancer diagnosis & my own diagnosis of Hashimotos & I have very little hair. Then I also got my larger health under control & lost over 50lbs. So yeah... I've joked for a couple of years that I'm just going to shave my head! I just ordered my first wig (other than costumes) just to give it a test drive. But I have NO CLUE what to look for, etc... Like how the heck does a lace front wig work compared to others? Thank you for creating a resource for all of us who have no idea what we're doing, but just want to look "normal" or even slightly glamorous for a night out or more photogenic for a family gathering. Thank you.

    Great video!! In my opinion the synthetic that is heat friendly mimics human hair but you don't have to style it and heat resets it.
    It is also less expensive and doesn't shed as much as human.

    I'm not new to wigs. I happen to think regular synthetic with a mono part and lace front is very practical and good looking. For me, those last 3 months if wearing all day 5 days a week. I think heat friendly synthetic with a mono part and a lace front is less practical because it lasts about 1/2 the life of a regular synthetic. Opting for a mono part vs. a mono top saves you money and who moves their part around all the time? I don't, but okay, it's better to have the full mono top but if budget is important, you can do the mono part very easily. I have a friend with a human hair wig. I wouldn't buy one myself. They require too much work and for what? You're right - the heat friendly is so close to the human hair. But it won't last you that long. Now if you buy a human hair or heat friendly wig for occasional use, then they are worth if if you can afford them. but for every day, regular synethics can be soooo beautiful and sooooo easy and sooooo much more affordable! And it would be haard to style a human hair wig as well as the synthetics. Very very hard. Synthetics are for me! Great video!

      Hi Salena! I've never gotten rid of a wig and I've been wearing synthetic wigs for about 8 years now. Synthetics hold up really well, as long as they're cared for property. A lot of people like to say one synthetic only lasts for like 3 months... but I've NEVER found that to be true. I have other videos on my channel, where I'm demonstrating on my 2 + old wigs, how to refresh them, etc... if you'd like to check those out. Not to worry, if you care for your synthetics, OR human hair wigs, they're going to last you a really long time.

    Hi there! I've been wearing wigs for many years now. I've NEVER owned a human hair wig. PLEASE TELL ME, how can you tell the difference by sight and touch? Are there certain characteristics each type has that can distinguish it from the other type?

    • @WigsWithSteph
      @WigsWithSteph  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello ❤️❤️ This is such a great question! Thank you for asking 🤗
      Synthetics have come such a long way nowadays that honestly people can never really tell by looking at it, or by touching it (when the synthetic is new and still in good condition). When the synthetic gets older, it will start to become clumpy, and tangly, especially at the nape of the neck- at THIS point is when the major difference between a Synthetic wig and Human Hair wig is known. Human hair wigs, even when they’re older (IF they’ve been cared for) don’t tangle nearly as fast, and even when it does tangle, as long as the wig wearer keeps up on conditioning their wig and adding moisture (softening oil, conditioning, or anything of that nature), this is when a synthetic wig is going to start to feel less like real hair, and the human hair will obviously still feel like real hair (because it is real hair), and at this time, the human hair wig’s tangle should easily come right out, whereas there are more steps someone needs to take with synthetics to get it to “come back to life” and be less of a tangled mess. I’ve actually made a video on how to do this here: th-cam.com/video/0584kktwk6E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=jVjg8aQW_sDvOGms
      Hope that makes sense! It’s a little challenging to explain without showing the difference to you, but not to worry if you’ve never owned or wore a human hair wig before. I am such a huge fan of synthetic wigs (I have a ton of them- because people can’t tell). But also, I do find a purpose for human hair wigs and I have come to love them as well…. Especially the longer ones, because the longer human hair will really outshine a long synthetic (it just doesn’t tangle nearly as fast).
      ❤️ I hope you have a great day!!

    For me it would actually be a good thing to be able to change the color of a wig. I go through very long periods (like 5+ years, and seemingly longer the older I get) of wanting only one specific color or color combination for my hair, so there's no point in me collecting a bunch of wigs in different styles and colors to switch between. I'd just need one until I wear it out, then get another, and so on, and maybe keep a spare one.
    Some of the color hairstyles I crave are also extremely hard to find in wigs. Like right now I really want one in a ginger to golden blonde ombre, which is such a unique color I didn't even bother to search for it. Instead I just went straight to searching for either a ginger wig I can partially bleach, or a golden blonde wig I can partially dye ginger, and for that it has to be human hair.
    Also, I dunno why, but whenever I wear a synthetic wig, it itches not only on my scalp, but also on my neck, chest, face, wherever the hair touches, which is really bothersome. I don't have that experience with real hair, whether my own or extensions. I haven't yet tried a human hair wig, but between my experiences with synthetic wigs and human hair extensions, I think I'd be a lot more comfortable in a human hair wig.
    So I can't say that I prefer them, but I think there's a possibility I would! And wouldn't mind upkeeping it with re-touching the color or needing to style it. Box dye is pretty cheap anyway, and I highly doubt any wig would be more troublesome to style than my real hair lol. That said though, I really can't spend 1000+ dollars just like that. So I'm trying to grind through webshops that sell cheaper human hair wigs (100-200 dollar category) but so far a lot of them are scammy with really horrible reviews.

    • @KimberlyWyatt-sx3rk
      @KimberlyWyatt-sx3rk 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need to think about all the processing that human hair wig has been through before you throw box dye or bleach on it.

    • @ryptoll4801
      @ryptoll4801 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@KimberlyWyatt-sx3rk Yeah. So far I haven't had much luck with bleaching human hair extensions etc. Seems whatever dye they've used in the processing is very deeply embedded and not easily budging. I hope I'll have better luck using semi-permanent dye and toners on an already bright blonde wig.

    The idea of putting someone else's hair on my head is kind of gross to me. That's my reason for choosing synthetic. It brings me back to those days of playing with Barbie and her hair was always so plastic-y smooth and nice. Where real hair is belonging to someone else and frizzy.

  • @AmazingRebel23
    @AmazingRebel23 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Your price point in terms of human hair wigs was incorrect, they can be foudn for much cheaper on sites like Unice. The $1000 CAD price point is strictly for European hair. For Brazillian hair in textures from straight, wavy, to the curliest it starts at a price point of $100 for a lace front, at a length of 12'' and beyond. For $200 on the right website you can find a blonde wig at a length of 18''. And yes, there is a clearance section which regularly stocks v-parts (essentially an extension for when your hair is mad curly and you don't know hwo to style it properly) and ones with bangs at a generous length for about $60 CAD or more. It's a demographics thing, I found out early on that if you're searching on websites made by white people (no joke) they will rip you off to the fullest for an $1000 blonde bob when you could use that money for 2 full lace hand-tied glueless straight black wigs on UNice that can be dyed infinite colours and be refilled infinitely unitl you are grey and old. What's more is that the wig hook to do that with is like $10 and the hair can straight up be taken from wherever you find a 6+" long hair. But yeah it's entirely a demographics thing, if you find a website with black people in the pictures and many reviews on youtube you will be buying a quaility product that is stronger human hair than european anyway. As a guy whose lost some hair i wouldn't even consider anything synthetic for a short mens style, ive seen those and it looks horrendous. MIne is a human blonde body wave full lace i got used on ebay for $100. It needs a repair tho but would work indefinitely. I did use a synthetic hairpiece for a while which is made of the lace front of a thrift store wig at a length of 6 inches that i placed with a sewn-on headband and bobby pins, but im too much of an environmentalist to advocate for synthetic hair for the most part. Cheers!

      Not always, but have to be cautious about quality. Sometimes to lessen the cost, a company might have some synthetic fiber mixed in with the human hair. As consumers we hope this isn’t the case, but unfortunately I have seen it done. Price also depends on density, length of hair, and color too :)
