No, it started long before then with big coal. While Co2 is the long-term climate changer the oil and gas industry release much more methane with their processes and it is a more potent greenhouse gas but is not as long lasting this is only one side of the damage caused by fossil fuel because you can include all the bad health effects from the other pollutants caused by burning it. Remember we used gasolene for nearly 50 years that had lead in it yet you you won't find anyone saying that is responsible for all the modern afflictions that children have like Autism, ADHD, ADD, Asperger syndrome and many more.
