Thank you!!! I love your hat and am going to try to make one, since you make it look so easy (sorry, just kidding)! I think I can make one following your excellent tutorial.
not that i don't think what you made isn't beautiful, but why??? what you spent on materials was almost 2x what you would have spent on a straw just like what you made on amazon for $7.69. each of your 2 sets of your mats cost i believe was $5.99 plus matching thread for $2.99 at wal-mart. so your hat cost approximately $14.97...and im not counting the cost of your time. time is money. sometimes homemade, when doing something like this is just not worth it.
Hello Mary, thanks for your comment and for working out the cost. I’m well aware of how much I spent on materials, but sometimes it’s not always about the money. I also haven’t seen those straw hats being sold for less than 25 dollars in Canada. 😊
I'm not sure where you are but in California, these hats start at $25 USD. I made this hat using 3 placements at $2 each for $6 total. Then $2.99 for matching thread. Altogether, it was less than $11 with tax. That's a lot better than $25 BEFORE tax.
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER every other tutorial left out how to do the brim in detail and i was about to throw it all away!!!
