Dads doing things like this is what being a good parent is about. It’s not just a woman’s job. Even if you don’t have to do it often, your daughter will remember the one or few times you showed interest in her hair.
Not only is it proper to do as parents/caregivers, but can be a bonding experience each time! I appreciated the grooming time with my daughter when she was a little girl and the quality of my efforts wasn't yet a huge deal. LOL!

This brings me back about 20 years when my dad would work tirelessly to do my hair on some mornings, but my mom hadn't really coached him on what products to use (my hair type is very similar to the child in this video)... One day mom came home and looked at my hair, then turned to my dad and asked, "Uh, honey? What did you use in her hair?" He calmly responded, "Oh, I put some Suave lotion on it!" 😂 He really gave it his best effort and did eventually learn things along the way, so I appreciate him for it!

I learned of a girl who would teach foster parents how to do hair for African-American children in foster homes, here in the states. It warmed my heart so much to see. Such an underrated and valuable thing to be taught when you have these precious babies to take care of. They all need to be cared for and loved 🥰 and the uniqueness of their hair can create a challenge for those who haven’t had to learn it before. Way to go dad for taking up the challenge to make sure your baby girl feels lovely 😊

It's really nice that he's learning how to do her hair from her mom. Men typically don't do hair, not only because it's not considered necessary, but because they simply don't have the experience. He's going into a skill he's never needed before with a hair type he's unfamiliar with so his daughter can always feel cared for and look her best. It's not a matter of applauding someone for doing the bare minimum, it's appreciating that he's willing to make mistakes and learn from them rather than just ignore her hair or ruin it. I've met white parents of black children who don't ever learn how to do their hair, and they never enjoy hair time like this little girl does. Not only is it proper to do as parents/caregivers, but can be a bonding experience each time! I appreciated the grooming time with my daughter when she was a little girl and the quality of my efforts wasn't yet a huge deal. LOL!

This brings me back about 20 years when my dad would work tirelessly to do my hair on some mornings, but my mom hadn't really coached him on what products to use (my hair type is very similar to the child in this video)... One day mom came home and looked at my hair, then turned to my dad and asked, "Uh, honey? What did you use in her hair?" He calmly responded, "Oh, I put some Suave lotion on it!" 😂 He really gave it his best effort and did eventually learn things along the way, so I appreciate him for it!

I learned of a girl who would teach foster parents how to do hair for African-American children in foster homes, here in the states. It warmed my heart so much to see. Such an underrated and valuable thing to be taught when you have these precious babies to take care of. They all need to be cared for and loved 🥰 and the uniqueness of their hair can create a challenge for those who haven’t had to learn it before. Way to go dad for taking up the challenge to make sure your baby girl feels lovely 😊

It's really nice that he's learning how to do her hair from her mom. Men typically don't do hair, not only because it's not considered necessary, but because they simply don't have the experience. He's going into a skill he's never needed before with a hair type he's unfamiliar with so his daughter can always feel cared for and look her best. It's not a matter of applauding someone for doing the bare minimum, it's appreciating that he's willing to make mistakes and learn from them rather than just ignore her hair or ruin it. I've met white parents of black children who don't ever learn how to do their hair, and they never enjoy hair time like this little girl does. And let's not ignore the mom, she's a great teacher and by supporting this rather than criticizing, they all get to be closer.
