eve.online/Ridddle_EN_insanespaceships We are finally approaching a point of building a real space fleet, so it’s about time to look up all the iconic sci-fi ships we know from books, movies and games. Which are the largest, the fastest, the deadliest and the most impressively designed? In this video we inspect the craziest spaceships in fiction in partnership with massively multiplayer game Eve Online which is not only considered the game to go for realistic space combat and exploration, but also has some of the most iconic vessels in modern pop culture.
Yo fake nerds, Star Trek first contact was not from 1977. And the Borg aren't an empire, they are a collective. Stop using Ai for writing. And screw your “scientifically plausible”. We are talking about ships that might exist 100, 200 or 1,000,000 years from now. The scientists and engineers from then would know things we wouldn't even dream about. Solar sails will be laughable at that level of knowledge and engineering. Hell, the need for spacecraft likely will be for recreational and sporting purposes only. Reaching the end of the vid where we talk about design. No mention of The USS Enterprise or the Miranda class? Bro... and why is there no Mass Effect vessel in it? The VSS Normandy Sr-1 and 2 are likely the nicest looking sci-fi ships of the last quarter-century. They're like Concorde's in space!
uhhh... i am pretty sure our materials science is not advanced enough to build a vessel of huge sizes that can hold together... and we definitely don't have good enough "deflector shields!"
Providence is nice I like the Tech II ARK its Cargoload Capacity is 298.000 m³ Amarr Empire. Or the Caldari Charon - Capacity 1.158.000 m² Tech II is even a Jumpfreighter.
Another incredible video! The 3D comparisons of these insane spaceships are mind-blowing. The scale and detail you’ve captured really put into perspective how massive and intricate these ships are. As always, your narration is the best on TH-cam-perfectly timed and super engaging, it really brings the whole video to life. The pacing and explanations are spot-on, making complex ideas easy to understand. I always learn something new from your videos. Keep up the amazing work!
In Warhammer 40k there is a ship called the Phalanx, its 1100 km wide disk thats 300 km thick. There are 300 km tall cones that are 300 km wide at their base on the top and bottom. I estimate that the internal deck space is several times greater than the surface of the earth.
I have a problem whenever Borg was spelled Borv and there seemed to be other things either wrong or just unclear.... I used to absolutely love "Riddle", but it never seems worthwhile anymore. 😞
You forgot the Imperial Battle Dreadnought Da'Hak...from Weber's Armageddon Inheritance series. In the first book, Mutineer's Moon, we find that Da'Hak is what our Moon actually is. It has been monitoring the Mutineers marooned on Earth.
No Independence Day ships? No Super Star Destroyer? The problem with a video like this is that there are too many ships to compare, so you will always leave out fan favorites. Oh well...
The TARDIS seems to be bigger than any other ship. Potentially infinite, it can rearrange itself, and grow if needed. It has a collapsing star inside it can fit a solar system inside it, etc. etc. It can travel anywhere in a few seconds, minutes at the most. So much faster than any other ships. Since it harnesses time and a collapsing star it is more powerful than the others. It can pull planets across the Universe. It can travel anywhere in time and move between dimensions and Universes. And being as small as a police box (or any other small object when the chameleon device is working), it can fit inside any other ship. And it's just awesome. It's much cooler than any other ship. And it's bigger on the inside!
18:47 YES!! Farscape gets some love!! 19:03 This actually makes a bit of sense. In the show, Moya does have a child, named Talyn, and he's about that size. He's also a living gunship, something Leviathans aren't supposed to be.
Personally I think the Yamamoto is the coolest Design. But probably as was one of the first space battleships I grew up on. Star Trek TOS was not on the air and can not remember other space ships from my elementary school days. Was never a Big Star Wars Fan was more Battlestar Galactica fan until Star Trek TNG came out in the 80s I think.
the big problem with the falcon is someone mistook distance for time in the original movie. what lore I've read basically states there's no active sensor suites in that IP, and everyone has to GUESS where what star is going to be and what part of an orbit the planet's in without an active real-time update system for navigation droids have to do most of the heavy lifting there, and even then, the ships are vulnerable to the smallest gravity well. from what I've been able to deduce, the SW galaxy must be fragging TINY! the distance between Tatooine and Alderan is, going by the size estimate of our own galaxy, at least 35K light years, and between corellia and Kessel probably well over 10k, yet han claims the falcon pared it down to *only 40 light years, give or take* (12 parsecs). either hyperdrive is INSANELY fast despite the gravity wells, or the SW galaxy is only 1000 light years across :P
Riddle did not talk about and ships from books.... Take the Ships from the books by Ian. M. Banks, The Culture Ships are giganitic in some cases over 100Km If i recall right there was one over 1000K and the fight with effectors and gridfire. Cool video
The Heart of Gold does not move "almost instantaneously". When the Improbability Drive operates at full power, the ship passes through every point in the universe at the same time❗
The Heart of Gold is using Jump-Drive called "Infinite Improbability Device", If you know the coordinate, It can instantaneously teleported to the current coordinate... But this comes some side-effects, If you used this, Anything on the ships will become very unstable... such as turning someone into a penguin, or causing a team of seven three-foot-high market analysts to fall from a hole in the universe and die from a combination of asphyxiation and surprise.
Actually the lexx can travel many 10s of billions of times light speed, season 2 expalins that they traveled all the way to the center of their cosmos in a matter of months and it's at least as large as our universe.
10:50 That's exactly true, yes, but people may forget is that any sum of energy can be transferred at high enough power levels/rates, as long as it's done quickly enough; we're talking here about a laser that sent *INSTANTLY* enough energy to LITERALLY VAPORIZE AN ENTIRE FREAKING PLANET, so not only is it a lot of energy, but it's also done in a very short amount of time, hence the insane power level
I played Eve Online for 3.1/2 years nearly every day. Steep learning curve and vast amounts to take in. What made me leave was that the developers were also players. So they would get inside info plus made updates that helped them. The other was all of the trolling corps that would "Wardec" everyone just to blow up their ships regardless of whether they were into PvP or not.
@keitth6935 What a childish thing to say. So original. Not everyone plays games for PvP. Having the devs exploit the game in their favor has nothing to do with "getting good".
“That’s no moon. It’s a space station.” Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. That’s the reference in the article shown in the beginning lol
They should make a ship with an extremely large radar and extra wide and far vision that once it detects enemies from far, it should send out battle drones to engage and kite the enemies while it snipes them from afar with frightening accuracy
The USS Enterprise D would still have many times the volume of the 1km space station. Length is not an accurate measurement of size. Internal volume would be more accurate in such situations.
The Dune Guild Heighliner ships use a method of folding space so their traversal from any one point to another in the universe is near instantaneous. Making it the fastest ship out of all of them. The reason they need the spice overdosed Guildsman is to use their limited precience (future vision) to choose the correct route in fold space to eliminate the possibility of collisions with celestial bodies or in system ships. Pre Guild fold space ships had a 1 in 10 chance of such a collision. According to an appendix entry in Dune.
Even if a craft could reach such a high speed, traveling that fast through space could end up in instant annihilation if any solid matter such as meteoroids were in the path. Even tiny fragments would be catastrophic.
In Aliens, the Tachyon Drive makes the ship such that as Tachyons, it wouldn’t interact with normal matter and pass through it harmlessly. In Star Wars, hyperspace is an alternate dimension where you enter and exit, you don’t crash into anything. Warp Drive in Star Trek is similar where you don’t interact with matter. If anything, the Faster than light or FTL sci-fi travel is usually safer than traveling at almost the speed of light.
I'm super sad book based ships aren't included in this. the General Systems Vehicle "Sleeper Service" was 53km long, 22km wide, 4km in height and after reconfiguring most of it's mass into hyperspace engine reached a speed of 233,500 × lightspeed Also, go read The Culture series by Iain M. Banks. You won't regret it.
Not including anything from Stargate is just wrong. Aside from the Heart of Gold, an Asgard Mothership is one of the fastest in sci-fi. They can easily do 1,000+ light years in about a second. And that's with towing another ship which slows them considerably. As for the Borg, it's the Collective not Empire and their Cubes are significantly faster than 7,000 x light. In transwarp they can easily cross thousands of lightyears in minutes.
EVE online would had more success if devs would actually put in the game spaceships from films & series. Also , this video would had been way better if was focus on the films too, for example there was nothing about "Babylon 5" which imho was actually make mroe sense then other "more popular" series & films.
Yeah, there is. AMAR's previous two superships would knock a small moon from orbit, and it came to the smaller version of the Emperor's personal Flagship. Just imagine how the Emperor Flagship could knock out a planet out of orbit from its parent sun and into the void.

Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren, the ship form of Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann
The most powerful ship in the universe is only 3 meters tall it is the TARGIS
This was the longest EVE online commercial I have ever seen.
Something tells me they've been playing EVE online
The Lexx will always be my most favorite spaceship.
a video about sci-fi ships but doesn't even include the Halo franchise. disappointing
This video is way too busy shilling EVE Online to bring other games into the mix. Where's Mass Effect?
Talking about destructive power to destroy planets, I’m like.. ya in a flash all sentient life in the galaxy is gone…
That’s far worse with one shot.
I know right. Maybe we need a part 2 for this! Mass effect, halo and dead space.. all have great starships!
I know. They don't do they homework.
killzone 2 was and is better then halo mass and any other game
I miss the spore drive engine from Startrek Discovery 😂
As a Star Wars fan I am so honored to type "Warhammer40,000"
How can you completely exclude both Mass Effect and Halo?
All the videos i have seen. I have come to a conclusion that riddle loves eve online.

What happened about speaking about Babylon5? Babylon5 has large powerful ships like the Vorlon Planet Killer.

The Andromeda Ascendant from the Sci-fi series Andromeda can destroy a black hole with Nova Bombs
Well, larger space objects in Eve Online like Keepstars are feeding from black holes as well
@@HwangInhoBooNam Ok
No mention of the Planet Express from Futuraman? Or the White Star from Babylon 5.
How could you mispell USS Enterprise D?
The GRS 'Mata Nui' from the BIONICLE franschise would have been a nice includion because is technically a spaceship too.
the big problem with the falcon is someone mistook distance for time in the original movie. what lore I've read basically states there's no active sensor suites in that IP, and everyone has to GUESS where what star is going to be and what part of an orbit the planet's in without an active real-time update system for navigation droids have to do most of the heavy lifting there, and even then, the ships are vulnerable to the smallest gravity well. from what I've been able to deduce, the SW galaxy must be fragging TINY! the distance between Tatooine and Alderan is, going by the size estimate of our own galaxy, at least 35K light years, and between corellia and Kessel probably well over 10k, yet han claims the falcon pared it down to *only 40 light years, give or take* (12 parsecs). either hyperdrive is INSANELY fast despite the gravity wells, or the SW galaxy is only 1000 light years across :P

Star destroyer Imperial or Venator would be perfect.
The Executor dwarfs them all
No TARDIS!?!?
You missed the White Star from B5 and all the cool ships from that show
Nice video and animations! 💪🙂👍
We get it. You love Eve Online jeez.
This sounds like just one long sponsor video for eve online 😂
Thtas What i think aswell
I like the ships from Halo. Both the Human and Covenant designs are cool.
My vote is for the Enterprise-E. BTW what about Babylon5?
we need a Part 2 for this.

The leopard in Eve online can not be optimized for anything since it doesn't have any slots for modification. I have half a dozen of them.
If you want to impress your sci-fi fans with sci-fi ships, perhaps start by spelling the name "Enterprise" correctly.
Actually the lexx can travel many 10s of billions of times light speed, season 2 expalins that they traveled all the way to the center of their cosmos in a matter of months and it's at least as large as our universe.

He covers Eve Online but ignores Elite Dangerous?
I mean Transformers has Unicron which is bigger than anything he shows. He eats planets up easily.
I am wondering if this video is sponsored by EVE Online.
The ship from Supernova ( 2000 ) had a interesting dimension jump drive with an intensely cinematic ignition firing sequence...
First Contact is in 1977? lol

What about Red Dwarf? It's one of the most famous ships out there, measuring 6 x 5 x 4 miles. That's bigger than Babylon 5.
Fery nice depiction of ships and graphics, thanks!
Why do these videos always equate length to size. Longer does not equal bigger. Not by a long shot. MORONS

Metroid prime 3 samus aran gunship. The design is incredible
what about the starships from Call of Duty Infinity warfare campaign ?
There's no point in having a space station if we can't launch ships from it
Ships will not be the sole means of inter Galactic travel, the only way is wormholes or pack enough resources for 175 light year journey.
