I don’t get it, He died, but then who was born? What legend was born? Assuming you are referring to jim. How could he die but still be born at the same time? Please help!
Sometimes when i come back to the doors i'm in literal awe of the uniqueness of the sound these guys were able to produce and Jim's voice. Just one of the all time great bands and it simply CANNOT be denied.
Robbie Krieger never got credit he deserved as a guitarist and a songwriter, he wrote some of the greatest hits for this incredible band including light my fire.
Jim's voice was always so powerful that most people just froze right away. Suddenly nowhere else to go, nothing else to do ... that's a real rock n roll frontman for ya !
I put Krieger in same class as Derek Trucks, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, BB King but also Carlos Santana, Jerry Garcia, Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt....all of them, like Krieger, play with a pure and true understanding of soul, Jazz, rhythm, collaboration, improvisation, heart and most of all and in all live performances, they just make it up! Genius. True artist. We're blessed to have his art.
Very cool footage. This was Aug 29 1970. The 4th day of that historic concert. An incredible lineup of artists. In 10 months Jim would be gone The next day famously featured Jimi Hendrix. He passed on 3 weeks later
I first heard The Doors back in HS in 1995, haven’t stopped ever since. I also had the privilege to see Robby Krieger play near my hometown about 5 years ago. He put on an amazing show! Unforgettable night.
It's interesting, reading Nobody Gets Out Of Here Alive years ago; according to Jerry Hopkins contemporary music critics at the time ripped The Doors performance at the IOW Festival. Man, I have seem many clips on TH-cam and in my humble opinion The Doors were fantastic!
Old man/total lifelong Doors fan---but honest too. And imho, except for a few STUDIO tracks like "Back Door Man," "Love Me Two Times," "Roadhouse Blues," "Maggie McGill" and "Cars Crawl Past," the Doors just never had much to their blues chops that could match their contemporaries'. All their best work is in their uniquely unconventional music surrounding Jim's poetry.

There's no one better than Jim! It's a shame he lived so little.
You're absolutely right!
He lived dubble
He lived more than any of us combined
He lived so much in his short life that he will live forever.
