I love how Homer says to Maggie "That's one clean tombstone!" as if the two of them have conversations like that all the time :) Say what you will about his parenting skills with Bart and Lisa, he seems to have a hell of a rapport with Maggie!
Homer has forgotten she's existed in the past. Like one episode when Marge tells Homer they have 3 kids, but Homer thinks she's talking about the dog, until Marge quickly reminds him of Maggie. It's a shame now that I think about it, seeing how they have some of the most wholesome moments from the series, like Maggie's first word or Homer making the "do it for her" sign in his office. But I guess that's part of the charm of the show: Homer is a moron that loves his family.
But what if I were to steal I Can't Believe They Invented It!'s opening sequence and disguise it as the Skinner & The Superintendent's intro? Ho ho ho ho ho, delightfully devilish, Groening.
Reminds me of the ep where he works from home: "the hands you have used to dial... are too fat. Please bash open the dial pad with your palm for a dialing wand"
I was wondering why Homer had a vest on instead of his usual shirt, and then I realised that it was funnier if he greeted Patty & Selma dressed like that.
Back when The Simpsons had an understated joke accompanying the real one: they never highlight it but you can see the real sugar cube maker doesn't make the perfect square ones you see on TV
How can it be understated when the look of the sugar cube was the punchline to the entire gag. What makes it brilliant is that its shown and implied but not spoken about. It works because none of those As seen on TV products worked as advertised.

It is very difficult to be nice and freindly to someone who is horrid.
A sign that Mr. Burns inspiration Barry Diller wanted to be the king of home shopping. No doubt about that. It's like the tombstone was also a reference to WWF's The Undertaker, someone who Diller has long made hell for, as well. Acquiring the Attitude Era when the Monday Night Wars ratings boost was needed is something that cannot stay disregarded. This even aired just 13 days before the 1991 Survivor Series.
