    • @VirginiaFruitGrower
      @VirginiaFruitGrower  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha yes nice spotting the banana! I used to grow them regularly but stopped after I finally got one to fruit. It is a chore to haul them in or prep them for the winter. This one is a California Gold which is supposed to stay small and fruit fairly easy in containers. I wasn't even trying to get another banana but a lovely local gal gave it to me. Kind of stands out because it is not in a black pot like all the rest of my trees.

    • @VirginiaFruitGrower

      Exotica is different kind of nursery. More free spirited and they seem to be in it more for the love of the plants. Back in the day I used to like going to Pacific Tree Farms in Chula Vista. I was bummed when they closed. I plan on making a trip back out the San Diego in a couple months. Hope your spring is going well Dianna.

    Omg, I'm late but the intro is hilarious🤣! I came across the video while looking up Yellow Mangosteens. I ordered a few Garcinias myself. Do you know if the Kei Apple is good tasting? Do you have any info on the Yellow Mangosteen? Also beautiful trees.🪴

    • @VirginiaFruitGrower
      @VirginiaFruitGrower  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So nice of you to watch this video from last year. I loved this intro too haha! Kei apple is good. I've tasted a few. I'd say most seedlings can be tart but they are flavorful. The one I have is the "Silber" variety and tastes good. My friend Kelly in CA has a delicious selection that I tasted in the beginning of the tour of his garden in my video with him. You just have to make sure you get a male and female tree because they are dioecious. Garcinia xanthochymus is super sour by most accounts but I've never tasted it myself nor wanted to grow it for that fact. Lemondrop mangosteen I'd say is better and even better would be achacha. Have a great weekend!
