Hi Victoria, I have been following all your videos and I love them. You’re truly amazing! I wanted to ask.. I feel like for some reason there is something I am missing about breath support(arpoggio). I am not sure how to engage my core when I sing, if I have to squeeze my stomach, or my rib cage, or both? And is it something that I should do actively and hold it throughout the entire singing phrase? Sometimes when I try I get light headed so I would assume something I doing is wrong

Omgg! Thank you soo much! I have finally found my natural vibrato! I was so frustrated for thee longest time! Tried several breathing techniques and nothing worked! Just 2 days ago I couldn't produce an efficient vibrato! But I have been practicing for about 5 months so I feel like it's a release from everything! It's not perfect yet but it will soon be think you soo much I am no longer depressed and I am soo happy! Thank you so much!😄

I just found you and I felt in love 😍 thank you! Thank you soool much!!! Are 30 years that I'm looking for my vibrato... you are the first that helped me to find it ❤❤ my favorite exercise is the n. 1
1) Do we use vibrato in choir? All the time or sometimes? Only when there’s solo parts? 2) What’s the difference between individual and choir singing? 3) Any technique difference? Thanks for many of your very helpful singing tutorials which I discovered recently. You’re the best vocal teacher 🏆
A lot of this depends on what style of music you are singing. I would discuss this with your choir director. The most important thing is that choir singers need to blend and not stick out. You can work on more vocal choices in your solo singing.
I really laughed at the "why do you do that silly exercise......because it WORKS". I think the giggle helps me and the wave image and hand movement. I think I'm driving. The wavy movement helps me relax. I need to look at them all again and keep practising. Love you Victoria!
2:45 It's sad that people ask that question all while subconsciously avoiding the real reason the excersizes are considered silly in the first place. Cause we're all judgemental goblins. It's so hard to allow yourself to do things deemed ridiculous cause you know deep down why its weird. Cause you've thought that about others. Guilty party here.
ily victoria thank you so much for everything, you are the only one that makes me understand how to sing, a year ago I couldn't even open my mouth to make a sound, I used to cry because I'm too shy to sing or practise in front of anyone and I felt like my voice was so ugly. now at least I have a very good time singing by myself and sometimes It's surprising how nice I can sing. ❤❤❤❤ ur the best hope your channel gets super big :)
I love the way you teach very thorough if I keep practicing I am going to get it l pretty much got the breathing down now iam working on my vibrato it’s more difficult than I thought but I am going to get it. Thanks
Alchamdulillaah barakallaah 🤲 for your teaching ma'am ... I start to locate my point of vibrato after this video ... Wish u gr8 luck & abundant blessings ma'am 🤲
Another great video, your videos are enjoying and educational. Thank you. It’s so easy to see that you enjoy helping people discover their own voice. I wish you the best and keep the videos coming. You are truly an artist. Much respect.
My dillema I had a bit of a vibrato that would come naturally on some songs. But I've since improved my voice control quite a bit...but i noticed I have lost my half decent vibrato. Now it's gone.. By improving my singing control (on key) I have stiffened up my notes. So now I have to learn how to sing right yet be able to relax to get into vibrato.
The E exercise is so great!! I always struggle with vibrato on the E vowel.. It's a hard one. The problem with me is driving my voice hard, especially on the higher notes.. I'll try to relax it more, and allow my throat to open. Thank you for a wonderful video.
Thank you for your post! If you have trouble with the EE vowel (which many singers do), make sure that you watch my video, EE Vowel Singing - TIGHT, SPREAD OR MUFFLED? th-cam.com/video/19JbzQP8bEE/w-d-xo.html
Your Videos help me so much and thankyou. I’m 14yr boy and trying to learn and my voice is changing so much so it makes it hard but I been getting better, thanks to your videos love you so much and thank you.😁❤️ also I’ve been practicing for about 9months now
I have vibrato and am pleased with my voice when I sing softly. However, when I sing in full voice, my vibrato disappears and my sound is kind of shrill. Not when I sing classically (I'm classically trained) but when I sing contemporary and popular styles...
Of course. this is very common. Work on thinning out your chest voice (see my videos on mix and focus on chest mix). Without hearing and seeing you, I am assuming that you are driving your chest voice which does not allow you to relax it a bit.
Everything I was made fun of for in theatre was the recipe to become a great singer. My theatre team was ran by a hot headed quick tempered person. I looked up to him but over time I realized that he wanted me to sing in a deeper register he was not trained in singing either he wanted me to be like Jill Scott, and others of a lower register. I am a soprano. My range is between E3 - E5. I was told multiple times over and over gain that I was a soprano and he kept saying that is not true. Now I stick to the fact I am a soprano or mezzo.
5:12: "--- stuck in straight tone" makes me look anew etymologically at that word straight. You must "allow" vibrato, I think you must be able to, first, to allow. As it's taking risk on staying inline. It's a matter of practice I guess - to believe in your ability to "get back" on course. This teacher knows the best ways about it. Thank you for your advice! By the way .. I got here while comparing Elvis and Little Richard. Elvis seems to know vibrato, Little Richard somehow is explicit about it: vibrato ex-planed.
I do mention it in my video on vocal onsets. Vocal fry should not hurt. It should feel easy. Vocal Onset - the FIRST IMPRESSION OF YOUR SINGING! th-cam.com/video/zD93yklO9yE/w-d-xo.html
I found this helpful as I thought vibrato was a manifestation of trembling in the diaphragm. It makes sense what you say. I would like to get your opinion on Whitney Houston's vibrato. Even though she had a gorgeous voice, I see a lot of tension in her vibrato because she seemed to have done it with her jaw.
No SHE NEVER DOES IT WITH HER JAW !!!! Her jaw does move but AS A RESULT OF HER VIBRATO. Gosple jaw IS a thing but the vibrato sound that comes from it is shallow and contrived. Whitney's is REFINED and PERFECT coz it is natural and comes from her whole vocal apparatus - and you can clearly hear that .... unless your hearing is challenged. Besides there are MANY clips of her singing with her beautiful perfect vibrato and trills .... and her jaws aren't moving at all ! So for you to say she does it with her jaw OH WHAT AN INSULT TO HER EXTRAORDINARY TALENT.
I started to have a sort of vibrato thanks to this one. I tried ghost and jaws. I’ll keep trying them. I’m not young but that’s not an excuse right? You are amazing.
Hello Titser, thanks for the lessons you provide for us all ❤ i hope you had a wonderful time in the Philippines 😊. I was wondering if you would answer for me ? Does the vibrato come from my diaphragm? salamat po sa inyo.

I think i have damaged my vocal cord.I can't form most double vowels, like ia-as in Christian, ua-as in Chihuahua etc. And a scratchy feeling when I hum, also on MMMMM, NNNNN. I cant hit notes that i know i can.I cant speak loud, because it so uncomfortable,it feels like im leaking air. I'm sick and tired of people on the internet who told me to see an ENT that doesn't exist in my town.Btw such a great video. 💜💛💚💙♥️
I'm sorry to hear about your vocal troubles. Well, the only way to be sure would be to see an ENT (which you already know). Minus that, I recommend going on vocal rest as much as possible, including speaking, to avoid further problems and to hopefully allow some healing.
I've been learning how to sing on my own and I find that songs with a lot of vibrato, such as a latin song I can sing really well. I'm the opposite. Other songs I'm not as good
Love your videos! I’ve always wanted to learn to sing and I’m just starting to dip toes in it. Your videos are super helpful! Would you say vibrato is more of a forced sound or should it come naturally and you just need to find the right spot to make it happen? Edit: watched he first video in the playlist and you answered my question 😂 Leaving the comment here in case someone else has the same one! Thanks again Victoria!!
I know will sound odd but when I was young and in choir I was taught how not to use vibrato and that it was a sign of a bad singer - no joke. She told us that we all sounded like goats. I was pretty young and this was in early 70's. 'After being made fun of I never sang again until 2 years ago, I am 58 now, and I mean NEVER EVER sang, not even humming. I sound like a dying animal now but I sing every day and don't really care what people think now. I can barely do it but with these exercises I think I can again. I know I do when I am very tired and sing.
I started singing lessons around early March how long do you think it will be before I’m able to sing really good my voice is already grounded and my instructor says I really have a nice voice but I know I still need to work on some things!
If you have learned how to just sing “solid straight voice” and that is your fundamental/ what would be the best way that one could instantly go from hard straight to easing vibrato - what thought or lesson would you suggest to “trigger” that? Thank you… great videos.
I give quite a few vibrato exercises in other videos. Different exercises work for different people. See the playlist: Vibrato - UNCOVER & MASTER YOUR VIBRATO! th-cam.com/play/PLaWjWxiTysDDufptDJzaeHH-RK4A_mkj4.html
You must have started studying voice at an early age. 42 years of studying ;-) Singing is fun, healthy and let you look younger LOL. I'm working on it! Another great video♪♥
that's the thing teacher, I don't know where the tension is, I don't know what to let go of 😭, i doin all sorts of exercises for vibrato but i just can't get there 😭😭😭
Barbra Streisand when singing with vibrato:~~~~~~~~ Me: _____-__---_----_____--_--_-----_____------_😂 I'm actually pretty good with vibrato, but as it turns out I have problems with various sounds (oo, ah, oh, ee).
If you need vowel work, make sure to see the videos in my VOWELS PLAYLIST: Vowels in Singing - Clear, Aligned & Beautiful th-cam.com/play/PLaWjWxiTysDADhRVZJvoZI0QJzbsWShRg.html
This is pretty common. As you approach the end of a longer note and you are running out of breath, you are probably pushing less. Practice the exercises in my other videos in the Playlist on Vibrato.
Hi Victoria, thank you so much for all of your content! You’re an amazing teacher and you really do things differently from all I have seen on TH-cam! I’m going to try your program and I’m going to send you a video for a review very soon. Meanwhile I try to watch and try a lot of your videos and I have a question about the vibrato. I’ve had some vocal lessons and I had a voice teacher who told me I had a beautiful vibrato. So I have always though I had a vibrato. Lately in my singing experience I’ve met another professional who told me that my vibrato isn’t real, so I’ve done a research about that and apparently you could imitate the vibrato. So how do I know if what I do is a real or a fake vibrato? If it’s not real I don’t want to keep doing it and keeping this habit, but at the same time I can’t stop it from happening sometimes… Do you have any tips or maybe have you done a video about that ? Also I could include that question in my video that I’ll send you soon (still preparing) Thank you again and keep doing what you do! Love your passion and honesty !
Hi Petia! I would have to hear you to be able to tell. A healthy vibrato feels and sounds free, enhancing the tone, as opposed to drawing attention to itself. I look forward to receiving your video for review.
Thankyou for sharing this with us Victoria... I have been trying like all you singing Technics.. at least now I can sing from my stomach and am able to hit the low notes to be specific.... but still I don't have that charismatic voice. What could be the problem?
Ah, you are now talking about style and what you do with your voice. I will make a video on style. You can start with this video: How to sing with emotion - NO BORING SINGING! th-cam.com/video/UdbaRF7iRaQ/w-d-xo.html
I cannot tell without knowing your voice. Some singers have high extensions, but that does not determine their voice type. Also, your absolute range is probably different than your actual singing range.
Woah you get higher then me as female, pretty impressive tho👌 I think your highest note doesn't define your voice type I think it's which range you are the most comfortable in but I could be wrong.
It can cause irritation. I recommend doing a search on nasal irrigation to thin out the secretions. Lots of singers do this. There are also mucous thinners that you can buy over the counter. I would discuss all of this with your doctor.
That's okay. Different exercises work for different people. Try some of the others in my PLAYLIST FOR VIBRATO: Vibrato - UNCOVER & MASTER YOUR VIBRATO! th-cam.com/play/PLaWjWxiTysDDufptDJzaeHH-RK4A_mkj4.html
It sounds like in your effort to control it, you added unwanted tension which is now keeping you stuck in straight tone. I would go back to basics re freeing up your vibrato. Watch the videos in my playlist on Vibrato.
I can do Vibrato only when im yawning so im trying to understand why im i able to release Vibrato when im yawing 🤣 been wanting to learn Vobratop for years unfortunately i still couldnt do it. it makes me fraustrated when im singing karaoke not being to do Vibrato while singing. im just gonna keep doing your tips and tricks and practice it hopefully ill be able to learn how to sing with Vibrato 😊
I have put this one on the back burner, until I can learn to stay on key. I tried to find it, months ago, thinking it would help me sound better, but it just made it worse (I didnt think it was possible 😳😖😳 lol). I have improved a lot from your videos, i still have a long way to go....but at least most of the stray tom cats have stopped gathering in my yard when I practice lol. But honestly, I feel like its starting to come the more that I practice your suggestions. I can get a couple of vibrators out at the end of a held note, but it's not consistent yet. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom with us. 🤗💞
Here is my PLAYLIST for vibrato. Make sure to watch these other videos and do the exercises. PLAYLIST FOR VIBRATO: Vibrato - UNCOVER & MASTER YOUR VIBRATO! th-cam.com/play/PLaWjWxiTysDDufptDJzaeHH-RK4A_mkj4.html
You solved a roughly 15 year old problem in one exercise. I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude for you and for this video.
It only happens for me accidentally, but it's been happening more frequently lately. I want to learn to control it. I love vibrato. 🥰
Practice the vibrato exercises for a few minutes each day! 🙂
For me it was my breathing. Learning appoggio provided a strong, constant, dependable stream of air and then I could stop forcing from the throat and tightening as I attempted to sing higher or longer or louder. Thus, I found relaxation in the throat and a vibrato happened (as opposed to my trying to actively 'make it happen' in my larynx). I envy those who just naturally make good technique choices. I am constantly learning to get out of my own way, stop forcing the sound and just letting it happen. To me, the exercises are a way to pay attention to how I am singing and what I am doing on the inside so I can know how to get what I want. Also, they allow me to practice those techniques to establish consistency, endurance and control. Sort of like playing catch to develop one's baseball skill. [this will teach you to ask me for comments :)] Another one of your excellent videos. I look forward to them.

I started singing lessons around early March how long do you think it will be before I’m able to sing really good my voice is already grounded and my instructor says I really have a nice voice but I know I still need to work on some things!
Every voice progresses at a different rate. I would discuss your question with your teacher since he/she knows your voice.
@@Victoria-Victorious Thank you for replying! We’ll check it out )) ) ) )
You must have started studying voice at an early age. 42 years of studying ;-) Singing is fun, healthy and let you look younger LOL. I'm working on it! Another great video♪♥
I started when I was 1, LOL! But seriously, singing does keep you young and happy, besides being healthy!
good stuff
that's the thing teacher, I don't know where the tension is, I don't know what to let go of 😭, i doin all sorts of exercises for vibrato but i just can't get there 😭😭😭
Barbra Streisand when singing with vibrato:~~~~~~~~
Me: _____-__---_----_____--_--_-----_____------_😂
I'm actually pretty good with vibrato, but as it turns out I have problems with various sounds (oo, ah, oh, ee).
If you need vowel work, make sure to see the videos in my VOWELS PLAYLIST: Vowels in Singing - Clear, Aligned & Beautiful th-cam.com/play/PLaWjWxiTysDADhRVZJvoZI0QJzbsWShRg.html
@@Victoria-Victorious Thank you 💜!
I love your channel!! Do you offer online voice lessons that I can enroll at?
Thank you and yes. Please see my website: www.healthyvocaltechnique.com/
My vibrato sounds like shaking. Like relatively fast and almost choppy tremors. Not big, but choppy. I think it'll smooth out eventually.
Watch all of the videos in my playlist on vibrato. It sounds like you are tight and your larynx may be sitting too high.
@@Victoria-Victorious thanks!
❤thank you
I struggle vibrato and high notes but what does it mean when I sing and when it comes to that ending part I think I hear vibrato in my voice
If it’s not real I don’t want to keep doing it and keeping this habit, but at the same time I can’t stop it from happening sometimes…
Do you have any tips or maybe have you done a video about that ? Also I could include that question in my video that I’ll send you soon (still preparing)
Thank you again and keep doing what you do! Love your passion and honesty !
Hi Petia! I would have to hear you to be able to tell. A healthy vibrato feels and sounds free, enhancing the tone, as opposed to drawing attention to itself. I look forward to receiving your video for review.
@@Victoria-Victorious thank you and love you ! I’ll send it very soon!
Thank you Victoria.
I'm male and my highest is G7 I've been searching and no results. Am I bass, baritone, or tenor? As in, the G7 note is currently my highest note.
I cannot tell without knowing your voice. Some singers have high extensions, but that does not determine their voice type. Also, your absolute range is probably different than your actual singing range.
Woah you get higher then me as female, pretty impressive tho👌
I think your highest note doesn't define your voice type I think it's which range you are the most comfortable in but I could be wrong.
Yes release not drive
can phlegm make my voice limited? (I got sinuses and only surgery will help me)
It can cause irritation. I recommend doing a search on nasal irrigation to thin out the secretions. Lots of singers do this. There are also mucous thinners that you can buy over the counter. I would discuss all of this with your doctor.
I need help on vocal chord closure

Hi have this song that I am practicing, finding difficult to get the vowels. Ann Murray song.If I ever fall in love again. Is it an ah or ee.
AGAIN = UH + EH (gehn). Hope that helps.
I feel like i’m able to vibrato naturally only with headvoice but with my full voice, i can’t😤
It's okay! That is normal in the beginning. Work on thinning out the chest voice (making it lighter) and watch my other videos on vibrato.
@@Victoria-Victorious thank you❤️ i just love your videos😇
@@Victoria-Victorious i wonder whether singing with mixvoice makes the voice sounds like i’m lisp, it is true (sorry if my English annoys you)
I for some reason can’t giggle and then singing😅
It’s hard
That's okay. Different exercises work for different people. Try some of the others in my PLAYLIST FOR VIBRATO: Vibrato - UNCOVER & MASTER YOUR VIBRATO! th-cam.com/play/PLaWjWxiTysDDufptDJzaeHH-RK4A_mkj4.html
Will do! Thank you so much!!
👍👍
This feels like something i'll never figure out. le sigh
2:47 this made me laugh
i used to have amazing vibrato and then found out you can control it and it disappeared 😭
It sounds like in your effort to control it, you added unwanted tension which is now keeping you stuck in straight tone. I would go back to basics re freeing up your vibrato. Watch the videos in my playlist on Vibrato.
I luv u

🤗💞
You are very welcome. Thank you for posting and keep up the good practice!
