I thought the same thing. Not like this was 1950s; it was in the 80s. Not as safe. Crazy that he was allowed to wander around unattended. Bet his older brother felt pretty guilty for not going with him.

Especially one with hyperactivity and who needs Ritalin twice a day to manage it? His parents should never have allowed him to go off by himself, day or night. There should have been someone with him, whether he liked it or not.

Everything is suspicious about this. I was born during that same time, used to wander out and around late at night at an extremely young age, and ended up being taken away from my abusive mother. The burn marks on him? No one even looking for him until late? No. Something is fishy about the family, I think.

That couple molested the kid twice, and they knew he was a good mark to make disappear forever, since his parents didn’t even bother to keep him safe despite him telling them and the shrink the first time he was kidnapped and raped. I was Louis’ age during that time period, and my bed time was 8 pm. A kid with learning disabilities is out until 9:30 pm? No wonder he couldn’t sit still and pay attention in class; he didn’t get enough rest. I think the couple just finally decided to do him in, since his parents were too busy to protect him.

I knew this family; they were regulars at a corner store where I was working. I remember the day he disappeared. Louis had run of streets that were part of the poorest area of the city. 4th and Chew street was where the hookers strolled by 3:00 (just when the kid came home from school). Loose joints could be had a block away. And many of our "regulars" ran credit from month to month FOR FOOD. He was also very "young" for his age. Most people knew who he was but nobody was looking out for him. The family was definitely in over they're heads. Wow, he would be 44. I'm older than I feel. If I'm not mistaken, he was one of the first "milk carton" kids.
    Thanks for the memories...

Children do not "invent" stories of sexual assault. EVERY instance of a child mentioning sexual acts involving others should be investigated. What did Louis's parents do when he first brought this information to them? Shrug it off as a 'wild imagination'? If nothing was done, I side with the police as his parents were suspect, if for nothing else, not following up on a possible abuse case.

Even if it would be safe it's still strange if you think a kid who grows need the time to wind down and get sufficient sleep before going up to school next day. That would be even more important with a kid with a npd diagnosis I presume.

Absolutely ridiculous. I hope the poor child is resting in peace.

I'm somewhat older than him and grew up in a very quiet village on an island yet I was supposed to be in at 8, to have tea and a sandwich, wash myself and wind down to make sure I got sufficient sleep. Kids that grow needs their sleep, even more so if the kid have some neuropsychiatric disorder like in the case.

I truly believe that those two teens did harm to Louis. I don't know why police let them go.I too as a young lad had kids chase me home from school, much earlier in time. The kids back then were capable of anything. I can't imagine how they behaved 20 odd years later.
If they still can contact those teens,I'm sure they have police records.
Through my research on murderers and victims I have noticed that the eye positioning indicates whether or not a victim had known the killer, and in Louis case he did according to the eye positioning.
I'm sure after listening to the case that the parents or the imaginary couple ( who I strongly believe to be the teens) actually did harm him.
