The Banned TomSka Surfshark Ad

TomSka tried to find the limit of how far he could go in his Surfshark-sponsored ads, to no avail. He may have been unable to find Surfshark's limit, but he did find the Advertising Standards Authority's limit, as they have banned the ad due to its "excessively violent" content that had "very little relevance" to Surfshark. As a result, the ad has been removed from the host video.
Thankfully, the Internet Archive has archived the video before the ad's removal, so I present the full banned Surfshark ad to you!

Until proven wrong, I don't actually think this is banned. I think Tom removed this from the Thomas video because it was a Thomas the Tank Engine video. Maybe some kids were browsing TH-cam, simply say "Thomas" not caring or registering the "darkside of Thomas" and got disturbed by the advert.
I'd bet if this advert were on another Tomska video, it would still be up on his channel.
@Sgt. VinDoy I'm okay with that. In the end I'm glad Tom could remove the advert and keep the rest of the video up instead of reuploading. Though I feel right about a kid coming across a Thomas focused video.

So i read the complaint and there were 2 million views on the video before one. (1) ONE person reported it and surfshark said if they followed tom they'd know his humor that this was clearly satire plus the disclaimer was there for violence but they were willing to remove it and so they agreed to pull it out. Wow. That one dude is such a party pooper. This ad was so well made and even has some good dark humor I liked it.
Nah, Surfshark we’re fine with it completely, the ones who called for the ad to be removed were the ASA.

@@morningbell3690 yeah, Tom mentioned it at comic con during one of his live talks yesterday. The funniest part is apparently this traumatised a child and the parents wrote into the British ASA which is what got this removed.
I love this ad. My favourite touch is at the end where they actually reach out to the viewer, their hands actually break the letterboxing to make it look like they are reaching through the screen!
Makes me wish they filmed it in 3D TBH.
Can we all just take in the fact that the acting in this is fucking brilliant, I feel like no one gives enough credit to the fact that this is genuinely good acting. If TomSka was ever hired for a film I would genuinely be quite excited for that because he's such a good actor.
This is better than any super bowl commercial I've seen in the last 20 years. Bravo Sir

@@mjkhan9664 Just for additional context, it was UK's advertising regulator that asked TomSka and Surfshark to take the ad down, after receiving the complaint.

nah, i don’t think so, cuz at the start of his vid theres the whole “intended for mature audiences” shit (and yes, i know that children wouldnt care enough to read that but still) and i also think that children would’ve gotten bored by the time the ad would’ve showed up. i aint saying toms video is boring, nah its really fuckin good but he mostly just talks and idk how many children would find that interesting.

I believe this concept was reused in his most recent video
He has a tendency to rescue ideas that had to get binned for whatever reason - because this ad had to be scrapped he just rewrote it to work as a standalone sketch.

It's a good thing to be honest. It's the reason why people can't put up ads about stuff like drugs or ads that promote illegal activity. It's also the reason why ads have a bunch of disclaimers at the bottom.
