My theory about the big events is that when everyone leaves the cities for the fest, the Salmonids are going to take the opportunity to invade Splatsville and Inkopolis, leading right into the final Big Run with the three plazas serving as the stages.

Question 2: Past or Future because I’ve no clue what Present will do for Splatoon. I theorize groups will form that seek radical change in the present.
Question 3: Deep Cut
I feel like you're oversimplifying the first point. Really, it could be any of the three if you're just going off of the actual theme, depending on how you look at it
The past is what makes you who you are today, you want to be living in the present as opposed to the past or the future, and the world will be a significantly better and more accepting place in the future.

Finalfest is extremely bittersweet, this game kept me alive during the worst time of my life, I’m so happy I was there for it since the start, but I’m so sad to watch it end.
The splatfest will be considered for the next splatoon game. And they're prob be reruns for the same ones so it's technically not entirely over
Don't worry, it's pretty likely there will be another game. This franchise is way too successful for Nintendo to give it up now.

They probably named it "Grand Festival" instead of Final Fest because they're planning to do reruns of old Splatfests after this. But this is very likely the last *NEW* Splatfest.

@THECyberStriker No, it doesn't. Who thought Marie winning would lead to Callie getting brainwashed and becoming the last boss? Who thought chaos would mean an idol group with multicultural inspirations in their music and papercraft designs? There's all kinds of ways the themes could play out, and I'd hope they'd do something more interesting than past meaning the actual past of the game's lore.

The "Callie vs. Marie" Splatfest determined who was helping you in Splatoon 2's Hero Mode
And the "Chaos vs. Order" Splatfest determined the theme of Splatoon 3 (and its DLC by association)
So this Splatfest may affect when Splatoon 4 takes place (ie. During the great Turf War, during modern times akin to previous games, or in the far future)... Of course, this is only speculation
It barely affected 3 so I'm not worried.

Its neat that the idols have thematically chaotic attire that is colored to match team order. A little bit of both, as a treat
This is just a small thing I noticed, but from 0:54 to 1:00 you can see that the LED lights on the edge of the stage correspond with idols that are performing in the center at that time. That's some nice attention to detail!

It’s honestly crazy that this game is already two years old. I still feel like the freshman who was super excited about it coming out. I’m glad for all the effort they put in, it’s been one of my favorite games and has gotten me through a lot. Of course, this will help influence Splatoon 4, but still sad to see it’s time waning.

The past for sure. We need to see the ancient history of splatoon with their battles and splatfests. Also I’d love to see the story mode showing the early days of the great turf war and their early forms of octoweapons. Maybe show the octolings hiding underground. They really have a lot more past they need to work on. So no doubt they’re winning. No one will pick the present. And the future is too unknown. The past is the only one that makes sense for another game.
But the question is what is most important to you, not to decide the fate of Splatoon 4

Knowing Splatoons reputation of splatfests having impacts on the next game, the end of this game almost perfectly aligns with the suspected release of switch 2 in march
EDIT: yes they obviously need development time which could still indicate a teaser for the game by the time the switch 2 is out but not a launch title
Yes and no, cause unless they are way ahead in the development of the next game (to even take the Time to start making anything related to the 3 topics of the Grand Festival that has to be chosen), most probable Is that this Time they are gonna take their Time to make the next one even if It means that the game can't make it as a Launch title.
That or Either they are actually working the next Animal Crossing instead.
To be fair, they could have all the new weapons, multiplayer maps, and characters made already, and the outcome of this Splatfest will simply determine what the new Inkopolis Square will be like and the campaign mode

@@slm20408 Oh, I hadn’t thought of it like that. Considering how the previous Final Fests went and how they affected each game, I didn’t consider lore parts. My own little personal prediction is that Team Past represents what we have in previous games, Present is what we have now, and Future is what we could get later on. I could be inaccurate tho, I think it would be awesome to dig deeper into things like the Great Turf War!

I want to pick present but also I like the idea of Splatoon with futuristic tech
Keep in mind, the different options are not shiver, frye, and big man’s choices, they are the different groups. Squid sisters with past, off the hook with present, and deep cut with future. However, always choose what option you agree with, not your only reason to pick that team being that that specific group is your favourite. (I.e. don’t choose present because off the hook is your favourite group).
I’m personally gonna pick past because my favourite splatoon game is the first one

Yes I wanna choose present simply bc I agree but also past but the problem is mirror matches and it simply wouldn’t be as fun if I go team present.. but I don’t mind choosing team past to be honest

Calling it now, Present with Pearl and Marina are gonna win...while we love all the idols that have been in the series...Pearl and Marina just really clicked with a LOT of people and are pretty much the most popular of them all from what I've seen.

Is it weird that the thing I am most excited for the next splatoon is to see who the next hosts are? I hope they bring back the squid sisters or Off The Hook in the next game. would have loved it in the DLC for splatoon 3 is if they brought back the splatcast for each of the hosts in each of the lobbies

As people we really do need to learn from the past in order to make a better future, like if we don’t learn from past mistakes we’re more likely to repeat them, and as individuals we have to learn from past mistakes to be able to be a better person as a whole.

What if there's another BIG Big run right before (or maybe even part of) the Grand Festival? It would be a great way to set the stage for Final Fest. The usual Splatfest announcement would be replaced by an emergency announcement from Grizzco about the invasion. The Salmonids would invade Splatsville, forcing the residents to flee to the crater outside of the city. The three idol groups would then perform as a way of telling everyone to not give up hope, that we can take back what is ours. Both Triumvirate and Turf Tar would be available, with the maps being Inkopolis Square, Inkopolis Plaza, and Splatsville. Shops would have a smaller selection due to having to flee on such short notice, the Lobby Gatcha machine would be an old (but still functional) version of itself, and Tableturf would temporarily be unavailable (since we'd be too busy fighting salmonids to play games).
This a a great idea and very appreciated by me and others. Lets hope nitendo thinks about it 😊🎉🎉
The whole "field when salmonids invade is still faintly registering" thing has to lead somewhere, and if this really is the final splatfest, then this is really what it has to be leading to because it's the end lol
