Gene Tenace filled in quite nicely for the injured Reggie Jackson in the 1972 World Series. Jackson injured himself in 1972 stealing home for the Pennant Winning Run in Game 5 of the ALCS.

The only clip here I haven't seen before is the Ray Fosse homer from game 5 of the 1974 World Series. I have seen some of the middle innings of the original NBC telecast but have never seen the Fosse HR called by Monte Moore ! Do you know if the complete NBC TV version of game 5 from 1974 exists ? Where did you find the footage of the Fosse HR ? Fantastic ! I would love to see game 5 in its entirety ! Thanks😊
Unfortunately, the historical significance of television broadcast weren't fully understood until about 1975. Until then the video tapes were sometimes taped over because of expense. Sometimes they're lost in the vaults of their respective networks. The original video tape of Franco Harris "Emaculate Reception" was lost for years and assumed to have been taped over before it was found quite by accident in 1998. You can find it here on TH-cam. As for Fosse, he also homered in game 2 of the 1974 ALCS off Baltimore's Grant Jackson. It was a 3 run shot in a 5-0 A's victory. I'd love to see a tape of that.
The A's of that era were probably the best defensive team that was ever put together. Couple that with three 20 game winners (Hunter, Blue and Holtzman), a 15 game winner (Odom) and a Hall of Fame closer (Fingers) and it's not hard to understand how they won.
