Cleaning all in one outside unit evaporator and condenser coil - Package Unit Air conditioner AC

Cleaning my friends Self-Contain Package Unit Air condition and heat's evaporator and condenser coil. I am not a professional. just documenting what we did.

I am currently trying to create a bid for a customer how long does this process usually take with 2 techs, Also I want to add amp draws to the bid, comp,blower,cap,cond fan motor??

Hey man... hoping for a reply here. I'm a carrier transicold tech in upstate ny. My parents home has a Miller all in one outside unit. Past 4 years it's been freezing hellaciaously in hot weather. Blower spins well, all fins intact. Condenser fan operates well, condenser is clean. Could poor evaporator return placement be the cause? It's a double wide modular home, the return duct and filter is on the lowest floor. I was thinking low charge, causing poor superheat after the expansion valve. This thing is a bitch to get the covers off, years ago before becoming a carrier tech the unit was looked at and the "hvac" tech had no fix. Now that I'm a dealership trained carrier tech, I feel like I have the ability to deal with this, but being a complete unit, there seems to be a lot more variables involved in an all outside unit, strapped with it's own blower, with the evap coil outside. Even poor sealing in the evap box allowing hot, moist air into the coil, ruining its ability to cool the house cause of freezing moisture. Lmk what you may think

8ball4554 it’s possible that it is a low charge or an airflow problem. Get me the model # of the package unit and filter size. If possible the duct size going to and coming from the unit. If you have gauges get me the pressures.

Won’t the drain pan get clogged with gunk and start over flowing?

You'd need to clean the pan and check to make sure they're open last. If you have tubing directing away from unit make sure it's open too.

Ellayn Chadwick both coils on this unit are tube and fin. If either coil is a micro coil or spine coil water only should be used. I apply cleaner to the evaporator coil with the drain on and remove it to rinse the coil. This allows for better drainage while rinsing. The cleaner that went through the drain line helps break down the debris in the drain line and is easier to flush out. I’m not sure why they had the white towel in the unit. Hope this was helpful.
