Just spent a few hours with my 91yr old father-in-law in hospital. Spent his life being an athiest, but he listened to me talk about the love of God for him during a lucid few moments. He welled up as he recalled 'something he had read' in the scriptures once.... so I prayed for him to put his trust in the saviour and make his peace with God. As I write this I don't know whether he is still with us, but I was just looking on U-tube for a little music as I prayed alone, and I came across this hymn. It was surely the Lord speaking a word of confirmation....... "Safe in the arms of Jesus". The Lord is so gracious and merciful toward us. Why would Jesus lay His life down as he did, and then not show grace & mercy; answering our prayers for the the lost and lonely.
Amen brother! God loves to answer our prayers for the lost and prodigal son/daughter who He gave all to redeem. May you see your father-in-law someday in heaven because of your witness.

We played this very recording at my Mom’s graveside funeral service. It was so beautiful to hear these comforting words as we sat on that windswept cemetery in NW North Dakota. We chose this hymn because it was one my Mom sang at other people’s funerals. So comforting to think of her now safe in Jesus’ arms after a long struggle with dementia and then the isolation of the lockdown. We worried so about her and prayed for her a lot and agonized that we couldn’t be with her. Lord Jesus, thank you for taking her safely home to you. 🙏🏼♥️

These Hymns Are So Comforting & Draw me Close To Jesus, I think they are Much Deeper Worship than many of our contemporary Praise Songs. It's Like we are there in Heaven Singing to The Lord and I Can't even Begin To Imagine (I can Only Imagine) what it will be like with all of the saints & all of the Angels singing Praises To God, Our Lord & King!!!
We were fortunate enough to get saved in 1982 in Australia at a Louis Palau crusade and as God would have it ran into a Mennonite couple who took us under their wing. We'd never sang. They taught us to sing; harmonies (4 part) We loved Bible studies with them. They've both "passed " My wife and Iook forward to meeting them again in Glory. I/we love listening to our brothers and sisters in Christ singing the praises of our Lord and Saviour.

I have been crying to the heavenly Father for guidance about having the vaccine. I do not believe in having foreign things injected into His temple. So for a whole month, I have prayed. It is today that I have to get the vaccine. I prayed again and He gave me a prayer for guidance and I was reminded of a hymn that I used to sing when I was college. Thank you for posting. God gave me the chorus to this song as my daughter died Sept 2 2022. She was in a different state. . I did not know why I was getting these words to part of the song & " I will sustain you". When I found out later she was dead I thought back. I wanted to find out the rest of the words to the song. Did you know there is actually a recording of her voice made at the ocean Grove camp meeting in August 1897. It's included in a 3 set CD book waxing the gospel. look it up she died in February 1915 a month shy of her 95 birthday. Amazing.

This hymn is in one of those volumes and tells the story of when and how Fanny came with with these words. She had lost a newborn baby and it's believed the words were given her by the Lord as comfort for the loss of the baby.
