  • This supplemental lecture provides a "crash course" on some of the basics about data, statistics, and probability in earthquake engineering. The narrative is centered around using the Wells and Coppersmith equations. Terms such probability density function (pdf), cumulative density function (cdf), mean, median, and percentile are demonstrated with hypothetical data.
    Please supplement this lecture with Appendix C from the Kramer (1996) text book.
