    I've received my Manix 2 XL dlc black today, and I had the classic Manix 2 version by a year now. They are both really freackin' good knives! Sturdy, slicey, smooth and all in all the perfect work knives. A bit extra humpf on the XL version, and a bit more carry ability for the classic one. Why choose one if you can choose both? Best of the worlds!

    Fix the lanyard on the Spyderhole, the other side on your belt.
    Make it full auto. ;)

    At 5.1oz it's only 0.2oz lighter than the superior Cold Steel Recon 1 (for the purposes you mentioned) with it's legendary strong Tri-Ad lock. The 'hammer-grip' is fine for hard tasks, but the whole point of the forward finger choil (on the Spyderco's) is to facilitate lighter tasks. I'm not 'knocking' Spyderco's by the way, I have ten of them!

      That's one I'll look put for. I am no collector, but I do take recommendations.

      Very fond of Spyderco and the Manix. Also the Spyderco Military, Para Military 2 and the Shaman. Great hard use knives.
      For your use the Cold Steel triad lock is extremely strong, maybe the strongest and most rugged. EG: 4 Max Scout, AD-10, Voyager, Recon-1, American Lawman...
      Nice review! Thank you.

      @@DixieLiving I considered the shaman. What is the difference between it and the Manix in your experience?

    • @DixieLiving
      @DixieLiving 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SteveMarvell shaman is heavier and the blade is thicker. Both with leaf type blades. Both very sharp. Both carry about the same. I'm not a fan of any lightweight models. Carrying the Manix 2 in G-10 last few days and probably prefer it over the Shaman as a general use/carry knife. You'll be happy with either.

      @@SteveMarvell Shaman has a smooth G-10 and different locking mechanism both Manix and Shaman very effective working knives. I like Spyderco's better than benchmade cause the omega spring on the axis lock breaks and need to send knife for repair to benchmade if live in America benchmade will ship new springs to Europe or other countries but not in the USA

    I will agree to disagree with your statement on how to hold the blade. No doubt the fist grip is great but the thumb pressing down on the back of the blade has a place as well. Waiting for a Manix 2 XL in Cruwear.

      How do you like it?

    • @williams.1130
      @williams.1130 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quite honestly it's silly to say you shouldn't use the knife that way. You can hold by 2 damn fingers depending on what your doing with it. It all comes down to what you're doing. From cutting string to cutting wood. If you didnt realize, the grooves on the back of the blade is called jimping and it's there to secure your thumb on the back of the blade. Literally designed for that.

    If I have a choice between carrying a full tang belt knife and a pocket knife its a no Brainer. Where I live I don't leave home without my belt knife.

    Try Cold Steel Voyager large. There's a plenty of space for grip, and it costs much less, then Manix 2 XL.
