Thunderbolts have that louder effect due to the fact that the horn is completely metal and it's alot longer than the 2001's horn which is the reason it carries alot further than a 2001
Nice video it's been active this sense many years to 2009 before it's over till beginning the 130's active in 2010. I may do the 1000 at Fire Station 11 next time.
@@WestTexasSirens Hey i may get my dad to take me to the Dallas Fire Station 11 next time to see if the fire department will let it to set it off the 1000. I'm sure also to set it off the 1000T over different Dallas Fire Stations as well.
@@TheSleepyMechanic0524 Dallas’ bolts are long dead and won’t ever be active again, this one will be sounded off as per request and manually by the FD if they choose.
I thought Dallas came in to every Fire Station and removed the old sirens surprised this and others if they are still standing are around did the city not have enough funds to remove them and instead abandoned them in place
In order to function properly, the thunderbolt needs to have its chopper motor brushes swapped and maybe the slip rings cleaned. It seems like it's oiled fine
Despite it being sick, this thing still sound very good! Overpowers the 2001 too.
It sounds a lot scarier because of how sick it is.
@Apostolos Ginnakidis are you good?
didn't overpower the 2001,, it's just closer to the camera than the 2001. 2001 was definitely louder

If you get there on the right shift you can meet the same captain that I met
@@WestTexasSirens Ya maybe but my mom said it's a very longer drive to get there because of traffic and road constructions.

Hey, it's u
How'd I miss this, and how was I not subscribed to your channel?? Both have been remedied now that's for sure. Great content!
Thank you! Hopefully this won’t be the last amazing experience from Dallas.
2001 siren: attack and thunderbolt 1000: attack
Considering how long it’s been since this ran it’s not surprising that it doesn’t sound it’s best
How long since it ran? Did they take it out of service for awhile?
Dallas’s thunderbolts went out of service in 2009, this is the first time it’s ran in over a decade
People after finding out about the High Guardian Spice ratings:

1000:attack
Me 1000T:I'm a tornado
That is awesome!!!
That wind up though
Oh my goodness
1000T:He is Hiccups
almost drowns out the 2001
Surprised it wasn’t louder than it was. It has a 5M I believe.
It also has an awful air leak, which is why it was so quiet. We plan on possibly fixing it though.
Not to mention completely shot brushes
@@osm_railfan that would be cool. Don’t hold your breath. I feel like the Dallas OEM would deny the request to reactivate some of the bolts

@@osm_railfan yeah I know. A shame really. It would cost a lot to repair them. Makes no financial sense
There's barely any tornado sirens to make videos of them these days

Ouch
Maybe they are all sick maybe im not sure
I want to set it off a ThunderBolt so Bad now
Dang, that poor thing
At least it isn't used.
@@osm_railfan Yeah
OOF brushes 😥
sounds almost normal
1000 Know Hiccup
And 1000T is problemly Chopper Snow
another bolt with dying brushes sadly i think its on the verge of being replaced and rightfully so cause this one is on its way out
It was already replaced, this was the first time it had run in 11 or 12 years.
20001

They have the funds, but given how half of them are set into foot-wide concrete poles, they chose to keep them up.
Oof she needs new brushes and a paint job and she'll be good as new!!
Hey, this is not a girl, this is a boy
@@acap-5043 sirens don't have genders rock head.
Sounds more like a bearing issue judging by its windup. A full restoration wouldn’t be a bad idea.
Old died siren
It needs a new paint job and it’s collector rings and brushes cleaned
No point in doing that
He probably just needs to be cleaned and oiled!

@@thespiritstingray9359 yeah that's probably what It needs
The 2001 is probably not happy that its grandpa (the thunderbolt) is still sounding off despite being sick after all these years lol.
