Excellent restoration and explanation of the whole job. I have a very similar dial clock which was originally verge with an alarm but it was converted to anchor escapement many years ago and the alarm does not work now.
I love your videos. So many insights on the kind of evaluations you make as to what to do, and what not to do. Something that is neigh on impossible to convey in writing, but perfect for video.
Ta-dahh! Beautiful job, thank you for sharing your work. I think many viewers would appreciate more detailed voiceover descriptions of the steps you are taking in some of the operations (for example, the prep, lubrication, and loading of the mainspring), time permitting.
There is a playlist of all the episodes on my channel page. I’m going to do a re edit of this series as one video with a more detailed voice so watch this space!
An excellent restoration, (I watched all 5 parts in one sitting.) but at what cost, and who's paying? As a retired clock repairer it looked to me that a good clean and lube would be sufficient to get the old thing in running order for a few years.
Hi your skills are so much better than mine but I have a good go I’ve two very old grandfathers clocks both came in bits both have an original 30 hr movements how do you calculate the pendulum length and more so the weight as both didn’t come with a pendulum appreciate any guidance great work
Excellent series of videos on the English Dial Clock. Thank you!
Like how you blue the hands. Always learn something. Thanks, your time and effort are so appreciated and valuable
A very pleasing result. Especially like the remains of the patina on the dial

Nice to see it still looks its age.
Thanks for another enjoyable video. Love watching you work.
Lovely job on the clock, looks awesome.

I think he did cover lubricating the spring but I wanted to rewatch it and haven't found it yet so i can't point you to it.

Tommy - when you say you "silvered" the dial, what process is that? Thanks for the vids - very educational sir.
It’s a cold chemical plating process. The card link in the video shows a video with more information.
That's a very nice clock now. How accurate do you find verge escapement clocks to be?
Lovely.
Why did you not wax the makers marks on the dial? Or was that not done originally.
It was waxed, I only did localised repairs to the waxing, I didn’t redo the whole dial.
Greatest enemies of clocks: Brasso and WD40.
Truly wonderful work. Unfortunately much of what you did is now being hidden. Which is a bit of a shame.
Very good episode, but I would keep this patina on the dial. After all, this is not a new clock. Sorry, but I do. Kind regards
