Rest in Power, Jason David Frank. You’ll be missed, but warmly welcomed by your fellow PR actors like Thuy Trang, Robert Axelrod, and Pua Magasiva for giving us all memorable performances and childhoods.
I'm a POC and I see no problem with it. It honestly makes more sense here. The ones we say rest in power for are powerless and their Community was powerless which which led to their death and probably the deaths of more. I can imagine people will be upset. So are we
Super Sentai and Power Rangers have a weird history of actors dying in horrible ways don't they? In a weird coincidence, both the first Ranger actors to die in both franchises were the Yellow Rangers (Kirenger and Thuy) and both were also the first Yellow Rangers in the show. JDF always seems to have been followed by death sadly, His brother Erik died in 2001 (and was the first actor in the show period to die since he died five months before Thuy) and then his stepdaughter killed herself. According to his wife Tammie, Shayla's suicide was the main reason for his own suicide. Power Rangers has always been cursed with two things; tragic deaths and productions that are nothing short of nightmarish.
I bought the Arkham Trilogy for that very reason. I fully intend to play through the entire thing to pay my final respects. Much like how I watched the entire Aladdin franchise to pay my final respects to Gilbert Gottfried.
I met him at a comic con in DC a few years back it was a last minute thing to even go and I'm so glad that I did. He was so energetic and very humble, we took a ton of pics and he signed everything that I had in my hands even stuff that wasn't PR related lol. he had the same energy for the last ppl in line as he did the first he made the trip so worth it. My only hope is that he truly knew how much he was loved by us all and how he embodied our childhood. Rest In Power to the homie JDF and may The power protect him Always...🙏🏾💚🤍♥️🖤
As a kid, I was a massive fan of the Power Rangers franchise. My favorite Ranger was Tommy, played by actor and martial artist Jason David Frank, over the course of several different seasons and 3 theatrical movies. Jason was always so laid back, so close to his fans and so appreciative of the franchise. Several years ago I wrote to him, asking for an autograph. Just ONE. He wrote back, sending me several pictures, two of them personally autographed. He will be missed, but his memory and his legacy will both live on. His real-life family and his Ranger family, along with us fans, will make sure of that.
I met him years ago at New York Comic Con, really nice guy. I watched him stop and talk to people waiting for him to arrive at his table, as well as the people waiting on line for the whoever was placed next him, he took selfies and spent a few minutes chatting with everyone that called out to him. I thought it was a real class act. It was nice to see someone that seemed happy to be there and interact with their fans.
"I realized it's not just the costumes and powers that give me strength. It's who and what I am inside that empowers me." Rest in Peace and Power JDF. I really can't believe he's gone to be honest. I was fortunate enough to meet him back in 2012 at NYCC, and he was such a fun and caring guy. Although he had an absolutely long line, he would consistently run up and down the line, giving high fives, saying hi and thanks for coming. And although he didnt have much time with everyone, he did everything in his power to make each moment count for every fan. An absolute legend through the generations, and my childhood hero. May the power protect you, you Morphinomenal legend!
The first time I met him was my first time at Wizard World when it was in Philadelphia. I had gotten tickets from a friend who couldn't make it, and I got to meet JDF. He signed my items and got a free photo with him. I'll never forget how kind he was to me that day, and how much that kindness currently affects me. Thank you, Disney Brain and thank you, Jason David Frank.
I was wondering when you were going to speak about this subject. I was absolutely shocked when I found out he passed. I never got to meet the guy and admit he wasn't my favorite ranger, but I respect the hell out of this guy.
Yeah, I needed a bit of time to get my thoughts organized, even if this video only represents a small fraction of them. Needless to say, I too wish I could have carved out just that little bit of time to meet him and maybe talk to him for even a few seconds.
Rest in peace, power, and eternal paradise, JDF. Tommy Oliver. You did a lot for us, you needed us but in the end, God needed you more. I met him once. Managed a picture even. It's Bizarre that he's gone now. Farewell, man. Thanks for the memories, Jason. You will be missed.
Rest in peace Jason David Frank. This is such a beautiful tribute to a great man who inspired so many people and will look up to forever. JDF will always live in our hearts May the power protect you
I appreciate you saying so. I don't think I'll ever have the full words to express everything JDF's work meant to me, but it was important that I at least try here.
@@Dharengo I'm known to be a corny guy, so I genuinely believe in sentiment like this. Legacy and what you leave behind matter and impact people, just like JDF's has impacted all of us here!
Jason David Frank will be missed but his spirit will always be in our hearts. He will always be my favorite Power Ranger of all time. I've met him twice at Planet Comic Con in 2018 and the year in April, he was the nicest person I've ever met.
That was a touching tribute! I just met him back at PMC in August 2022. I had put off going for many years and said I’m finally gonna go. I didn’t mind the wait. And he was super humbled and accommodating. This one hurts! Rest In Power, JDF!
This video sums up everything I was thinking perfectly. Thank you Brain, and thank you JDF. May the power protect him, and anyone else going through a rough patch. 💚⚡️
Tommy Oliver has always been one of the most enduring and celebrated heroes in all of Power Rangers. A lot of that was due to some solid writing, but it wouldn't have worked as well without Jason David Frank and his commitment to the role. JDF and Tommy will live on forever in our hearts and in our prayers. Rest In Power Jason David Frank, we will never forget you. ✊🏼⚡️💚🤍❤️❤️🖤
The first episode of Power Rangers I remember from my childhood was the Dino Thunder episode “Fighting Spirit”. I didn’t know what was going on because of how late that episode is in the series, but I remember being so in awe watching Tommy fight his past ranger forms to stay alive, and then waking up to single handily take out the monster. That episode sealed the deal for me and turned me into a life long fan. Then being older, I saw him in so many fan projects on TH-cam either in fan made power ranger stuff, or playing other roles like Bloodshot. I felt like he really loved what he did and always brought his best to the game. I felt like while other ranger actors from the past wanted to get out of their ranger shadows to be taken more seriously as an actor, JDF embraced it and proved that something as silly as power rangers was something worth caring for. The way he passed was so hard to comprehend especially when you saw how much energy he’d bring to everything he did. It’s such a shame that I’ll never have the chance to tell him what he and power rangers meant to me as a child or even as an adult. I don’t like idolizing celebrities, but JDF was one of few public figures who really meant a lot to me for what he did. Rest In Peace to Jason David Frank, the legendary ranger himself.
I met him earlier this year at a comic book shop, this guy was one the most entertaining men I have ever seen and to finally see him was amazing. JDF was the best of the best and I will miss him. RIP
Damn. That was impressive. Your description of Tommy as a mythic figure in the franchise sums it up. And it was JDF that brought the character to life. Tommy Oliver wouldn't have been Tommy Oliver without him.
Such a lovely tribute! :) As someone who's grown up with Power Rangers, the second I saw the news about Jason David Frank's passing, I was in absolute shock. The guy's been one of my biggest idols since I was little and one of my main inspirations for taking up martial arts. I myself never got to meet him, but I've heard great things about him from those who did. I still remember being giddy with excitement when he returned as Tommy in Dino Thunder and again in Megaforce when he saved that kid trapped in the falling car (I literally screamed at the TV when he jumped down). RIP Jason, once a Ranger, always a Ranger.
Personally I can say he was truly a childhood hero of mine and had a massive impact on the development of my own morals through his depiction of Tommy Oliver. Him as a person I don't think he's ever had anyone who really had anything bad to say about him even David Yost given the time period they were co-stars. This is why his death was really chilling to me but I think as fans we should remember him at his best. Thank you JDF and RIP
Tommy was the big brother i never got to have. Always supportive, enthusiastic, and kind, that made me want to do the right thing, and be a good person. Jason, I was lucky to have met and at the lowest point i was mentally probably in my entire life. I wouldn't be here and I hope to make him proud. May the power protect him forever...
I was blessed to meet him back in September, he signed a white ranger coin that I had purchased from Karan, and he took pictures with me all for free by the way.
Also, you can be DAMN certain that I'll be watching The Legend of the White Dragon when it comes out. Biggest hope for that movie is that his daughter, who will play his daughter in the movie too, inherits the White Dragon power by the end. It would be beautifully symbolic.
Thank you for going into this, and thank you Jason David Frank for being a huge part of my childhood. We'll all miss you. That's all I can say. Even though I started watching PR in retrospect (though I was 9 at the latest) I'm still touched by the franchise. Rest in honour JDF, and Tommy Oliver shall live on in my everlasting memories.
One of the last things I saw JDF in was Power Rangers Hyperforce, one episode he played Tommy, another episode he played Lord Drakkon. If you haven't seen it, look it up on TH-cam, he brought it 100% though it was a ttrpg show. A wonderful actor, and a great man

This wonderful man pulled me into a franchise that has helped me through some really rough times throughout my life. You know... when the news broke. First thing I did was hit your channel... not that I expected a video. I just had to check in because I know just like me, you're a power ranger fan for life. Idk what broke me more. The fact he was gone. Or how he left this world... and for weeks after, I find myself on TH-cam watching his best moments throughout the series. The Green w Evil Saga. Him getting the white ranger powers. When he was under mind control and the Zeo rangers had to convince him which side he was on. He was my favorite part of BOTH original movies.. but what warmed my heart the most (and sorta shattered it) was looking back at the first time he morphed as the Black Dino ranger. It took me back to the age of 7. On ABC Kids and Jetix. I was so excited. I seen the black dino gem, he whipped out the morpher. And that line is iconic to the season "Aren't you a little old for this, Tommy?" "I may be old but I can still pull it off". The score starts. Then. "DINO THUNDER! POWER UP!". The 1st time I watched that episode, I freaked all the way out. Because I grew up on reruns of the first 5 seasons because of my brother. The earliest I can remember being a fan of while it was on air was Lightspeed Rescue. I had wanted to see Tommy in more than just an anniversary episode like Forever Red. I wanted that feeling my brother got to witness as it was happening. Him morphing into the Black Dino Ranger will always be the most important childhood memory of mine. Because I came to that realization that I got what I always wanted; my favorite childhood hero coming back for yet another go as a ranger. We're all a bit heartbroken over his death... even though most of us can say, we didn't really know him. But the memories he gave us live on for the rest of our lives
I was very fortunate to meet him a few years ago as every time he tried to come out to Canada, something happened that prevented him from coming. He finally got here in about 2018 or 2019 and I immediately bought a pass to the convention. Every good thing people have said about him is true. He autographed my Saba with a big smile on his face.
When I saw the news I have to say I didn't think it was real, but to me as a child of the Disney era and remembering that Dino Thunderwas the first time I REALLY watched PR he always felt like this larger then life guy that would always be there. May the power protect him and all of us.
RIP Jason David Frank, I met him at Liverpool Comic Con, got a photo and an autograph and he was such a lovely guy, he's such a big part of PR and part of me hopes they give him as much of a fitting tribute as he deserves. Once and Ranger, Always a Ranger.
Rest in peace JDF. While I’m not the biggest Power Ranger fan, I absolutely loved Dino Thunder and grew up watching that show. Black Ranger was my favorite ranger of all time and I didn’t even know that he was Tommy Oliver, I just thought he was so cool and a cool mentor. Thank you for everything JDF and my childhood 🙏
I was next in line to meet him a year ago, fanboying HARD and he winked at me and I said "listen her man, don't wink at me, this is gonna become a whole new level of interaction!" And he said "I love the energy- bring it in man!" Then I thanked him for being someone to look up to, then we talked about our kids who are growing up too fast. Such a cool dude. I wanted to meet him again and say cooler stuff and maybe be less star struck.. I wish I could've been there for him when the dark took over- sometimes we just need a friend and I am more than willing to be the guy. RIP JDF..
I remember asking him at the panel that he introduced so many to his now unfinished and unreleased, White Dragon, about who Tommy ended up marrying and having a family w/ in reefside in the Ninja Steel crossover. He jokingly said Elsa, cause obviously only asked him about the three characters he had relationships w/ being Kimberly, Catherine, or Hailey. lol
Thank you for doing this, Disney Brain. A wonderful, deep, touching tribute to a person who meant so much to so many people. Rest in Peace, JDF. May the Power always protect you.
MMPR really only found its footing with and because of him. I noticed that as I was rewatching it myself. There's a definite mood change once he joined up.
I know how you feel, when I saw the news I honestly didn't want it to be true. But the more I looked into it the more I found it to be true. Rest in power jason 🙏 😢
It’s been three weeks. I haven’t had time to process my grief. But I’m shocked as a Ranger fan this would happen to him. Tommy was truly the best Ranger ever. And JDF brought him vividly to life. I first saw him as the White Ranger. But now that I’m older, I prefer Tommy in Green, Red and Black. Somehow ever since he said he was retiring from Tommy, I knew something would happen next with Jason. Something inside me felt it. I just didn’t think he would take his own life. But thanks JDF for making my young adulthood awesome

I was one of the people who sorta fell off the man for a spell there. But no matter how self aggrandizing he may have been, no matter how much of his skill was just selling HIMSELF...he was important to all of us. And now quibbling about the degree to which that might have been seems like such small potatoes. We all wear many masks....he wore them better than most. If any of us live to be half as well remembered, we'd count ourselves lucky.
I have to warn you. Just because the resources are out there doesn't mean they are available. They have severely cut back on mental health supports in the last 10 years. Getting the help you need now is much harder than it was in previous years with many people still suffering from the isolation of the pandemic and returning to work. This is especially true if you are of school age and supports are essentially cut once you leave the school system assuming your school even has a psychologist available. Plus, the help out there may not be specialized in dealing with your specific problems. It took me over 10 years to actually find one and it was a psychiatrist, which is even rarer. If I had one thing I would point to for what happened to JDF, it would be the fact that JDF's life was pretty much falling apart in the last year. That was likely what took a harder toll on him than anything else. When something like that happens, it can feel like you've lost everything and that is why he did what he did.
Well said. I never got the chance to meet him, but he was my hero from when I was very small to now. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger. RIP JDF. Thank you for making the parts of my childhood that I remember, morphenominal
I never met the man. But Tommy saw me. Tommy saw me as Billy. A nerdy (queer) kid who just wanted to be understood properly and people around me just didn't. But I'd sit down and watch this guy who looked like someone I would want to be friends with and he was kind to Billy who was just like me. Knowing that the thing that he saved me from took him breaks my heart. May the Power protect him.
I only remember watching Dino Thunder as a kid. That was my connection to JDF and Tommy Oliver respectively. My biggest regret was not going to an event that he was at in a local bookstore. As a college kid, I was really busy, and I didn't have time. Despite my feeling of regret, I'm just happy that we are able to watch his legacy time and time again. RIP Jason David Frank, and may the Power protect you. 💚🤍♥️🖤
I may not know or understand where you are now; but I hope and pray you are now at peace. Rest easy, Ranger, we have it from here. RIP JDF. May songs of the angels welcome you and guide you along your way. May the smiles of the martyrs greet you now as darkness turns into day. Every fear will be undone and death will be no more, As songs of the angels bring you home before the face of God.

Rest in Peace, Jason David Frank.
You know... when the news broke.
Just when I thought I was done crying over you, Jason.
RIP you are missed greatly.
Tommy was my hero. He grew up with me. I watched power rangers for the first time when Tommy was the green ranger
R.I.P. JDF 😭
SPD was my first season. And it took me a decade to finish Dino Thunder
I got to work PMC this year and getting to see him there will always be a memory I will cherish! It was a awesome experience
Still can't believe he is gone, I think the feeling is going to come when the 30th anniversary happens, or maybe sooner, I did cry.
RIP Jason David Frank, I met him at Liverpool Comic Con, got a photo and an autograph and he was such a lovely guy, he's such a big part of PR and part of me hopes they give him as much of a fitting tribute as he deserves. Once and Ranger, Always a Ranger.
Rest in power forever Jason David Frank.
Rest In Peace Jason David Frank you were the greatest and most powerful power ranger of all time😢😢😢.
He'll be kicking T-rexs in heaven.
Rip Jason David Frank May The Power Protected Him
This still hits me hard even years later
Rest in Power, Jason David Frank 💚🤍❤🖤
I was next in line to meet him a year ago, fanboying HARD and he winked at me and I said "listen her man, don't wink at me, this is gonna become a whole new level of interaction!" And he said "I love the energy- bring it in man!" Then I thanked him for being someone to look up to, then we talked about our kids who are growing up too fast. Such a cool dude. I wanted to meet him again and say cooler stuff and maybe be less star struck..
I wish I could've been there for him when the dark took over- sometimes we just need a friend and I am more than willing to be the guy. RIP JDF..
“Dimensions in danger” hits a lot harder now that you realize it was his final appearance in the franchise.
I watched so many JDF tribute videos and TH-cam and it still doesn't feel real to me. I'm going to re-watch MMPR to process all this. RIP JDF.
MMPR really only found its footing with and because of him. I noticed that as I was rewatching it myself. There's a definite mood change once he joined up.
Rest in Power JDF you were my childhood and you will be missed 💚💚💚💚💚💚
I know how you feel, when I saw the news I honestly didn't want it to be true. But the more I looked into it the more I found it to be true. Rest in power jason 🙏 😢
I feel the same way. I didn’t want it to be true either. But ever since he announced his retirement from Tommy, I feared something would happen next.
Thank you Jason. You have been a true inspiration. Rest in peace. Forever Ranger.
Jason David Frank we will miss you. Your legacy will live on!
Thank you for this tribute, and thank you to Jason David Frank. If not for him I wouldn’t be the martial artist I am today
May the power protect him always. May he rest well and may he find peace
That was glorious. Thank you Disney Brain. I miss him...
Keep it up on your work and this video and channel

I was one of the people who sorta fell off the man for a spell there. But no matter how self aggrandizing he may have been, no matter how much of his skill was just selling HIMSELF...he was important to all of us. And now quibbling about the degree to which that might have been seems like such small potatoes.
We all wear many masks....he wore them better than most. If any of us live to be half as well remembered, we'd count ourselves lucky.
I think Tommy should basically become the Aka Red of Power rangers and just exist out there as a part of the franchise even if he's not around.
Man this still breaks my heart he passed away he was my childhood Power Ranger hero may the Power protect you Jason David Frank (Tommy Oliver)
💚🤍❤️🖤
Rest In Power Jason David Frank, may the power protect you and your family always
+ he found out how toxic his wife was but STILL tried to make amends with her.. but it just didn't work out and that tripped him over the edge
Well said. I never got the chance to meet him, but he was my hero from when I was very small to now. Once a Ranger, always a Ranger. RIP JDF. Thank you for making the parts of my childhood that I remember, morphenominal
RIP Jason David Frank 😣😭🙏🕊️
Thank you for this tribute, DB.
JDF, was my hero. He did have a huge impact on my life. I looked up to him, and the others sure. But, he was my hero. He leaves a huge legacy.
RIP Jason David Frank.
I wish I could have met the man on a con. I met his legacy character from his Dino Thunder tenure and he, along others, helped me with my childhood.
My heart is still broken
Phenomenal sir! 🤙🏾⚡💚🤍❤️🖤⚡🤙🏾
This actually made me shed a tear
He was a good man
I'll miss him
When I heard he die I thought it was a joke then I look it up then realize that he has left this earth I hope he rest in peace
I love Power Ragnar
I may not know or understand where you are now; but I hope and pray you are now at peace. Rest easy, Ranger, we have it from here. RIP JDF.
May songs of the angels welcome you and guide you along your way.
May the smiles of the martyrs greet you now as darkness turns into day.
Every fear will be undone and death will be no more,
As songs of the angels bring you home before the face of God.
R.I.P. everyone’s FAVORITE Green/White Ranger…..Go Go Green/White Power Ranger in heaven 😭😭😭😭
I've been waiting for your video about JDF

Well done, thank you for making this
Rest in power JDF.
