- Unboxing Lionel's Postwar 726 & 2426W in BEAUTIFUL CONDITION from 1947, Variation B, directional lever protrudes through a slot in top of the boiler. It has blackened flag holders and the bottom plate reads "Made in U.S.A. / The Lionel Corporation / New York, New York." My Version has Baldwin Discs that have "Baldwin" name cast into them.
That is a beautiful set. As good as the new stuff is, I love postwar era Lionel even more.
This one was a shocker. I did not expect to win the bid on this one. I tripled the highest bid and surprisingly I got it. The only reason why I won is I waiting to the last 3 seconds to place my bid. Thank you for watching! 💯😎 Frank
Gorgeous a real find!!!! You are extremely lucky to find such a perfectly preserved set. Super boxes too! . I love my 726 because it’s the one year only 1946 design. Same year I was born. Yours is from 1947 to 1950 I suspect. I’m now following your channel. Kool!! Jerry:>)
Good Morning Jerry, I was shocked when I found this locomotive in this condition. Thank you so much for the sub and for watching. Frank
NOW you know how Howard Carter and Lord Canaervon felt when they discovered King Tut's tomb in te 1920s.
"What do you see?"
"Wonderful things!"
And the nice thing is that Berkshire doesn't have a "Mummy's Curse" attached to it!
And you can tell the seller really cared because he wrapped the boxes in Glad Wrap so they wouldn't spoil! 🤣
A fantastic aquisition! Well done! Well done indeed! And considering the condition it's more than worth every cent you paid for it!
Thank you so much Wayne! You cracked me up with this one. I really appreciate your comment and support my friend. This is one of my ultimate favorites of my collection. I’ll post a couple shorts with it today. Frank
About 30 years ago I got a Lionel '78 train set at a yard sale for $20.00. It was a Scout 2-4-2 plastic engine but it ran and smokes well. About 20 years ago I got my cousins train set with a 2026 Adriatic (2-6-4) engine and whistling tender. I've got to replace the E-unit in it. You sure got a good deal there. Cheers from eastern TN
You got a fantastic deal yourself at that yard sale. Sometimes it’s just being at the right place at the right time. Thank you for sharing your story with me. This is one of my favorite locomotives to watch running. Thanks for watching. Frank
Absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you so much! The condition of this locomotive is unbelievable. Thank you so much for watching.
That's as nice as you can get! It still amazes me, even as someone with a large, high quality Postwar collection, that there are many pieces still in such amazing condition all these decades later. Enjoy it and run it!
Thank you Matt, it’s definitely one of my favorites in my collection.
Nice!
Thanks!
That’s one gorgeous Postwar 726!! What a find. Congratulations on this beauty!
Thank you Tom! Yeah I was shocked when I got my hands on this one.
That's the most perfect Berkshire around! Don't let that one go. Berkshires are the best postwar steam engines imop.
Thank you Joey, I'll have a video coming soon of her running.
Awesome! I believe you have a 1949 Berkshire. If it has the simulated couple in the front that puts it as 1948 or 1949. Looking at the tender box you have the two city box which came out in 1949. A 1948 box would have three cities listed (New York, Chicago, San Francisco)
I’m about to run it for the very first time. I wanted to wait until I got the brown passenger cars to go with it. Now that I have them, I will do a video on them as a set. Thank you so much for the information Al.
Looks nice, hopefully we’ll see a video of it running soon.
You have my word, I will be doing a video very soon showing off the maiden voyage on my postwar layout. Just waiting on the Lionel 022 switches that are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I will be doing an update video today showing the progress that I have made. I really appreciate the sub. I lost everything and had to start all over again from scratch. It’s going to take a long time to get my subs back. Frank
@@TwistedMacGyversTrains Yes! I can’t wait. Sorry to hear about your loss. Good to see you’re starting back again.
Collector grade engine and tender, very sweet! I would be almost afraid to run it.
I know exactly what you mean. Thank you for watching John.
Your tender box is a Two Cities box, Lionel omitted “San Francisco” from the boxes in 1949, so your loco is 1949 or later. Very nice loco.
Thank you for the information. I did not know that. I was so excited when eBay told me that I won the big. This locomotive is so quiet and smooth running. To date it’s the pride of my collection. I really appreciate you watching. Frank
@@TwistedMacGyversTrains I can relate. When I retired I thought there was no chance I would ever get one. But I found one at a swap meet about a year ago. When he said $120 I jumped all over it. Its a 736 from the mid 50s and the tender is correct but from the early 60s but it runs great and even smokes. Not at pretty as yours but I love it and its beautiful to me.
That’s a fantastic price for a #736 and tender. I paid $350 for my #736 with the 3 windows. This was my first postwar locomotive that I purchased along with my #682 turbine. I think I over paid for the #682 but it does look mint.
@@TwistedMacGyversTrains Yes, I feel very fortunate that I found it. I have a great guardian angel. He said he had serviced it but even if he hadn't I can do that but it runs well and even smokes. I will do a video on it when I get my track down on the new layout.
I will be looking forward to see her run. 😊
Beautiful steam engine coal cars or passenger cars would great running behind the engine
Thank you so much for watching. I did upload a video of this beautiful #726 pulling the heavy weight Madison cars. It truly looks amazing!
Made in the U.S.A 👍👍
You got that right! Thank you so much for watching and welcome to the channel! Frank
I own a mint 1924
I would love to see that Matthew. I don’t think I have a 1924 in my collection. I do have it on my list. Thank you so much for watching and thank you for the comment. Frank
Rare find. You may wish to handle wearing white lint free gloves to protect your investment?
Thank you for the great advice. I have only run this locomotive a handful of times because of the beautiful condition. I really appreciate the comment. Frank
How much did you pay for it?
I honestly do not recall. I have purchased so many postwar locomotives. I can tell you I know I got it for a really good deal. I was shocked! That you so much for watching!
1947 berk
Thank you for correcting me.
