At the time I thought it looked like a baggy part of the glove, like in the Western version. And I also zoomed in really close on a high resolution image and the color looked like the glove's too. His fingers are also pretty large. I guess it's debatable, however. Or maybe I'm just being silly... In which case, I apologize.
The Yakuza is the same reason why there are so few people with tattoos in japan, and why there are basically no people in the media (including things like pro wrestling) that have tattoos.

I am Japanese. Regarding the package design of Crash 4, the actual product version has four fingers after all. Perhaps they unified the design of the crash. The crash of 4 feels like a design that is also received in Japan. I've always liked the design of every crash, whether it's a Japanese crash or an overseas crash^ _ ^

I have a Japanese copy of Yoshi’s Crafted World and Yoshi still has four fingers on the box art. They should put the crash dance and song into all versions of the game itself. It's one of the few defining characteristics the character has, lifts it out of the generic "zany!" crap it was originally
