I totally understand how you feel. I have Anxiety and riding is sometimes a huge challenge for me, even though I've been riding for decades. Having a good lesson or a good ride is such a confidence booster, though! And you did great! I look forward to watching more of your progress. Oh, and your horse is adorable. He seems like a real sweetheart. :)
@@KimbaLorber yes! It's so crazy sometimes, I've ridden so long, it doesn't make sense. Agree about lessons though, I'm planning some. Thank you so much about Stu, he's a character haha. Thank you for the comment!
what is it that you're afraid of? Is it because you have kids and you're afraid of getting hurt? Are you afraid of "messing up"? Some impostor syndrome? I think it helps to figure out the source. I feel like your horse needs more leadership and is so bored that he is just doing his own thing. I'm also concerned at how "lazy" he is...he doesn't seem to want to move out at all. Just curious if you've had a vet take a look at him. Also, if you long line him, please do up your reins as you would while lunging. I know lessons are expensive, but TBH, I'm worried that you're heading down a dangerous road.
@@augustday5912 interesting question! I think it's mostly a fear that I don't know what he's going to do - will he buck, bolt, rear, spook? I just don't know him that well. Yes, he just needs leadership, I'm pretty sure I mentioned that in one of my videos. There's nothing wrong with him, he's been like that his whole life, his old trainer called him "turtle" 🤣 it's a training thing, he will move out, it's just not something I had worked on in this point in the videos but it's in a video I'm working on now. I appreciate your concern!
@@anequestrianlife this is the first video of yours I have watched. As someone who has dealt with a lot of anxiety over the years, I often ask myself why? Am I afraid of getting hurt? Am I afraid of disappointing my trainer? Is it just perfectionism rearing it's ugly head? Is it that I just don't believe that I know what I'm doing and I don't want to mess up my horse? The last one is my most frequent reason. It's all so frustrating and I've held myself back for years because of it, despite many respected trainers telling me I'm a good rider. So much of it is mental. I hope you find your courage and build the needed trust with your turtle soon :)
Looking good, nice hindquarters 😊
