Robby's comment about Andrew rationalizing the flavour of his soup was unexpectedly hilarious and made me spit my water out.

I was about to make the same comment. I suppose if I knew as much as Andrew about edible plants I would try to eat every edible plant i could and then rationalize why it tastes so awful too lol

Not sure if you all read all these comments but an update on this place- it’s now the newest state park in TN! The whole of South Cumberland SP was so large and spread out they were having trouble managing it as one so they separated savage gulf (and 733 new acres of land) and made it Savage Gulf State Park!

There is an initiative in the Cumberlands of Tennessee (VA and KY too) to repopulate and grow the original short leaf pine savannah grasslands of the region. Shortleaf and Longleaf pine savannahs are some of the most species rich habits in north America.
You guys hiked past 3 different species of pine plus the hemlock. Just an idea. The amount of views this channel gets is incredible and would love to see people educated on how the environments and ecosystem once looked before European settlers walked North America.

My kids got me into backpacking 13 years ago and my philosophy was to hike as fast and far as you can, camp, pack up and do it again the next day. Taking my grandson as well as newbies has slowed me down. Watching your awesome videos has taught me to enjoy the journey. I now notice the little things - flowers, bugs, the way trees grow, mushrooms (but not making soup anytime soon), etc. Thanks for posting these and giving me a different perspective on backpacking. ❤️

I wish I'd have known we would have loved to join you guys. Collins West and Savage Falls ate still on that side. I believe you can get to Savage Falls from Hobbs Cabin. Andrew is very knowledgeable about plants, trees, flowers, mushrooms edible and not edible. Andrew said, in one of their videos that he is an amateur Botanist. You made us learned a lot about plants in all your hikings. Thank you. Andrew, you are so smart remembering all those plants including the Scientific names.
We don't hike but still enjoying watching you 4, Andrew, Robby, Bryan and Thomas.
Stay safe guys and God bless.

Great episode! I feel like a proud Pappa watching yall discover Savage Gulf!! I've been exploring this area since the late 80's. It's where I learned to repell, rock climb, and hike. To get past the wobble rocks you have to walk like you're drunk. There's still much more amazing things to see just in the South Cumberland State Park system let alone the rest of middle TN. Maybe plan a waterfall trip to Fall Creek Falls and Virgin Falls. Robbie knows Virgin Falls!. 👌 great video once again!

So glad you went with the big tent - I swear by them. They're so light and easy to set up now and if you camp in racing, snow etc. you have a place to hang out when you can't be outside. Mine is an 6-person tent with 2 poles (lots of stakes though) - so easy to set up and carry. Love your content.

I love your love for the plants and flowers. I was excited when you found the wild ginger. I love those brown velvety blooms. Dutchmen breeches are so delicate and perfectly named. Was hoping for you to find a lady slipper and a jack in the pulpit. So excited when you prepared the Lions Mane. I’ve never found one of those but here in WV we scout for Molly Moochers (morels) in the spring. As an oncology nurse I see so many plants that are used in chemotherapy drugs. Y’all make miso soup look really good. I’m gonna have to try that on my next hike. Love your videos, your laughter and love for God’s earth. Keep hiking and sharing your journey🥾🥾🤎

Idk where to start. I loved so dang much about this episode. I literally just watched the video of Robby going there by himself. I stumbled across this channel. It just popped up in my feed. Anyways. I really love love LOVE the energy between these 3. I have watched like 3 episodes a day since I’ve found this. This episode was amazing. I loved the laughing so hard in the tent while trying to blow up the mattresses. It reminded me of being with my friends long ago and have those moments that make life worth living lol you guys have such knowledge and I seriously love your intelligence, patience and authenticity!!! I love that you try the plants and fungi and Robby made me laugh looking like he was gonna barf!! That Unexpected ending was freaking awesome crazy fun!!! There’s nothing about you’re guys work that I don’t like. You guys are extremely more professional and put your work together better than a whole network on tv. I feel like I’m watching something that has a huge production!! I love that you guys always give feedback and appreciation to those who send you stuff! Guess I’m gonna have to check your website for more details. Praying for your travels and look forward to more!! One word of advice. Don’t ever take that bond between you guys for granted. Cherish it!! I miss friends like that!! Life changes so fast sometimes. Hugs

I didnt read all the comments so someone may have already said this. When you left Sawmill to find water you were headed in the right direction but you gave up too soon. If you keep going across the dry creek bed there is a sign that says Schwoon Springs. It is about 1/2 mile from Sawmill, but it's a flowing and beautiful water fall area that disappears into a cave. It seems like it takes forever to get to it from Sawmill cuz you're tired and don't wanna hike anymore but the area itself is well worth seeing! If you head back to Savage, check it out. Great video. Savage is one of my favorite places ever!

Man I'm really loving your videos! Working my way through all of them now!
The best way I found to eat lion's mane mushroom is to saute it with butter sprinkle some salt salt and minced garlic then crack some black pepper on it! So good 👏

For the second video in a row, yall have camped at the exact same site I camped. The campsite you guys stopped at in sawmill was the one myself and my boy scout troop camped in. In fact, Bryan boiled water around the same spot I made my instant ramen in 2015. Nostalgia is hitting

I love you guys. You are hilarious. Lion's Mane is definitely not for everyone. I think the texture is something like wet paper towel. But it is uber healthy. So eh? Andrew is outliving us all!

Awesome video of a gorgeous place. It's crazy to me how different the water levels were ... compared to when I was there (at the end of March). I couldn't find a safe place to cross to get to Ranger Falls and there was a ton of water near the bridge close to the Sawmill campsites. Great to see y'alls perspective!

Savage gulf (south Cumberland state Park) is truly a hidden gem. Much of the area was purchased through private fundraising efforts. I'm no expert but probably spent a dozen nights here. Happy to share what Ive learned if anyone has any questions.
