Marvellous footage!! That wonderful 3 cylinder chatter brings back memories of the Jubs and Scots on the WCML just North of Wigan (1 in 100)when I was a young lad in the 50s and early 60s. Fond memories indeed...........
Hi my name is Phil i did 50yrs on footplate I started at edgeley in 1961 and I fired a number of them in my time I finished at longsight in 2011 Regards Phil.
That sound as I stood on Luton station with my dad and a 1d platform ticket in the fifties in the dark, gas lamps glowing and then the sound of that whistle as the 'Jub' came around the corner on the down line, the glow from its firebox door in the fog as the platform trembled under my feet and I clung to my dad so excited, my little heart pounding as the carriages tickety-tacked madly until the red tail lamp receded into the darkness. I was hooked for the rest of my life. Thank you for this memory.
From wreck to remarkable. One of the best Jub vids I have seen. Who was the fireman? Not a trace of black smoke and a feather at the safety valves. A guy right on top of his job.
I lived at Luton on the Midland Mainline in the 50’s & 60’s & this brings back vivid memories for an avid gricer. Never thought to take any pictures as it was so commonplace.
Fantastic shots of a loco being driven hard without the addition of a diesel on the back. Superb, great series of shots - you did well to get ahead of her again at Fiddington!
Wonderful footage, spectacular audio. 'Galatea' doesn't half keep up a good pace. The Fiddington sweep is a treat. A joy to hear the up-tempo percussive rhythm of the engine and coaches singing past without the drone of a following diesel. No drain-cock wheeze. No crossing gongs (except one distant tinkling). No nasty camera shutters. Had to watch and listen thrice. TFP
Oh my god, reminds me of the days of train spotting near my grandmas, with my Ian Allen spotters book, waiting for the mid day Royal Scot thrashing by between Knighton and Wigston junction near Leicester. Wow.
Hi, I was there with you. I’ve lived in Leicester all my life and did my linesiding in the 50s and early 60s mainly between leicester and Loughborough, and I fondly remember the “Jubilees” roaring and bellowing as they went by. This awesome video certainly rekindled those memories, it was beautifully filmed (thankyou!) it the lack of a banking diesel was most welcome.
Wow she sure was pushing that speed limit to the limit same as Scots Guardsman last weekend up north and she was running 10 and no diesel well done with the film excellent as usual
Great video and regards the `jubs` seeing they were only 3 cyls they were pretty powerfull, sadly when I was trainspotting back in the 50/60s most of these beautiful locos were poorly maintained and most of them never realised their full potential, all credit to the dedicated staff who maintain these locos today and also much credit must be given to the drivers also I know sometimes it has to be done but it spoils the whole ethos of the train journey when a deisel is used, by the way 45562 was Alberta.
Another excellent video, with the Jubilee working hard and looking good. The numbers game is confusing, but it is the owner's perogative, to do what he likes with his engine. At least we are able to see it on the Main Line and not static in a museum.
Great video, though I've given up on trying to understand the numbers and loco names for a couple IIRC of this class. Last September I travelled from Australia, using a lengthy Eurailpass in UK and Europe. Not long before I departed, RTC cancelled the day tour on which I had booked, citing lack of bookings. Sad, but later in 2023 I've booked another one so second time lucky maybe. Terrific that you could catch up with the train as with so much traffic in the UK, this must be very challenging on some roads.
What cunning piece of digital tricky was used to remove the diesel here??? 😉 Nice to see solo steam again, just like the good old days of not so long ago.
At a USA Level Crossing (Grade Crossing), at least the fake bells stop ringing when the gate arms come to rest in the horizontal. Can't Network Rail suss that one out?
That's really going for it, looking good. I wonder how much more was 'in the bag' if there wasn't the 75mph limit!! I love Scottie's, but I also wonder why the LMS persevered with the Royal Scots once they sorted out the Jubilees ... with the Princess Royals and Coronations on top. Al.
Nice. What's not to love about Galatea? I sincerely hope those West Coast Railway idiots will see sense and give the engine her true identity, before more false rumours start to escalate.
A moving oil painting with sound, brilliant.

Perfection ! As you said, 10 carriages and NO diesel. The only way to watch steam
Hi my name is Phil i did 50yrs on footplate I started at edgeley in 1961 and I fired a number of them in my time I finished at longsight in 2011 Regards Phil.
Round of applause for the restorationists who have kept this excellent LMS locomotive in prime condition. Pulling a 10 coach load with aplomb.

Brilliant description? Wonderful memories.
Fantastic description. Your father wasn't Sir John Betcheman by any chance? (Wild guess at spelling😬)
Very well done video Liam and Phil :)
Had to be the best ever video of a Jubilee literally working hard and galloping. Have to say got a real thrill from this one. My thanks to you.
From wreck to remarkable. One of the best Jub vids I have seen. Who was the fireman? Not a trace of black smoke and a feather at the safety valves. A guy right on top of his job.
Excellent firing!
I like to think at Aschurch the driver saw the 90mph sign as a challenge not a restriction!@@davidcrc9155

One of the best sounding hooters of any of the preserved Stanier engines!
Fantastic shots of a loco being driven hard without the addition of a diesel on the back. Superb, great series of shots - you did well to get ahead of her again at Fiddington!
As ever, fabulous photography and on the Cotswold Venturer note the very good firing resulting in hardly any unrecycled coal!! Thanks again MSV.

So good to see and hear wonderful sound of he Jubilee back on top form, what a sound, cheers Steve . 🎥
Delightful!! Beautiful train in stunning scenery; wonderful videography!
Brilliant video Liam and Phil. 45699 really is worked hard on the tours she does! That Fiddington shot is superb, some day I'll do it 🤣. Regards, Dan
Simply fantastic!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Brilliant !
Thank you for filming and sharing.
Cheers
Dirk
Liam & Phil, Excellent choice of locations and nicely captured throughout. Regards, John
Like this compilation mate. You did well and looks like you had a good day 👍🏻
Cheers Matt, nice to get some good results without the need to travel to the other end of the country like recent outings.
Excellent video Liam and Phil. Galatea performed brilliantly. Great selection of locations. Fantastic filming. Enjoyable watching. Kind regards C&A
Beautiful scenes with great sounds! Jenny
Sounds great and looks great. You can't beat a Stanier Jubilee!
Yes you can 2 of them
@@kenmcdowell5325 nice one!

A jubilee in full cry 10 on and no banker!!!!
It doesn't get much better than that 👍👍

Nice to see solo steam again, just like the good old days of not so long ago.
Cheers David, one of the better days for mainline steam, plenty of Castle action to look forward to. I'm sure you'll be keeping an eye open !
Just shows the power of the Jubilee Class.
I was at ashchurch myself boys on the left hand side of the platform
Lovely sound.
Nice video great camera work as usual as always keep it up bye for now Philip
Wow! What a sound
Briliant video
Not much else to say superb
The shot at 4:41 is stunning
At a USA Level Crossing (Grade Crossing), at least the fake bells stop ringing when the gate arms come to rest in the horizontal.
Can't Network Rail suss that one out?
Liked and subscribed and I love steam trains.
The offbeat sound of a 3 cylinder Jubilee! sounds in fine fettle! what a noise.
So much better without a diesel on the back. Clearly you can have catering running without a diesel attached...
Fantastic zoom at6:05. You must be able to see for miles down the line there.
That's really going for it, looking good. I wonder how much more was 'in the bag' if there wasn't the 75mph limit!!

Not appropriate choice of words ,those West Coast idiots as yoy describe are the very people that have restored and provided the loco .
Without those idiots you wouldn’t be able to watch this video.
