Just got an ENA4 and love it. So simple for those of us who only drink plain old black coffee and espresso, and consistently excellent. And the small footprint is perfect for our crowded kitchen. Yeah, it lacks bells and whistles, but it does the basics so well.
You know what I liked about this video? That this reviewer is actually excited about his purchase and the previous purchase too. I am buying the Jura that does milk drinks as well...but I really enjoyed his overview of both. I've watched a lot of Jura reviews of different models, and this is the first person who has showed the pucks up close and talked about them! Details! Great lighting for showing us the Juras. Thank you so much for making this fun video.
Cook Culture - 3 years late question. I'm a coffee nut too though with Crohn's I really have to cut back. My experience with non-commercial espresso machines has not been great. So two quick questions: 1. I have heavily filtered water. It's a necessity as workers disturbed the creek beds of our city's water supply. So Philips which makes my current 'meh' machine says do NOT filter on top of filtered water. This is a vitally important question if you care to answer. 2. My experience is that espresso machines at this price point simply don't last, and using the warranty doesn't really fix the problems (on my other machines, not made by Jura) but do eat up shipping costs. After 3 years how's your ENA 4 doing. Is it still trouble free, broken down, what? Many thanks, Allan
I've owned the ENA Micro 9 followed by two A1s and this ENA 4 is by far the best Jura simple automatic I've owned. Coffee is far better and hot! Pucks are dry! Water on side is huge improvement but I would recommend filling the tank with a simple water bottle or other container from your tap. This is so much easier and may in time, keep the seal untouched at bottom of machine. Seems a bit unstable the way it was designed but an easy work-around. GREAT MACHINE SO FAR after 2 months of daily use.
Great review, thanks for all the details. I am looking for a machine doing great coffee only, with option of decaf. So it looks like a good option. Can the Jura ENA 4 also do 2 cups at the same time, as with the D4? from your video, it looks like not, which would be a downside..
Nice video. The espresso bean I use is Starbucks and it's oily. Do you foresee a problem with this machine? Do you think this machine pulls a better shot than gagia or are they the same? I had a gaggiavmachine for 18 years and it finally quit on me. Thank you!
Does the inside of the ENA 4 have plastic components that make contact with the hot water / coffee? I’m concerned about drinking dissolved plastics, associated with causing cancer.
Thanks! Also, when purchasing coffee beans, how do you know they are "not oily" as you mention in the video? I would buy from you but I'm in Spain!! thanks
Thanks for recording. I drink a couple of cups a day (3-4 americanos). I wonder if the water and beans container will be too small, and I will need to fill both every day - I'm looking for something convenient. I'm considering this machine and the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus, I don't drink milk-based drinks, but there are no coffee-only options for the DeLonghi with the features I want. Will this machine require cleaning, filling water/coffee almost every day?
@@giomusah2155 Hi, thanks for the note. It's hard to compare the 2 machines as they are totally different but they both make coffee. Nespresso makes great coffee but you can be much more specific when buying your own coffee, which I like. My favourite roaster in Fernwood Coffee from Victoria fernwoodcoffee.com/
I would love to see a coffee americano made and a little bit of a comparison about it differs from the A1 would help (change grinder settings, any less things, need for 2 filters, etc).
@@Cook-Culture I would have loved to have bought it from you, but unfortunately I do not live in Canada or near BC. I did end up buying one though, and I can say it is superior to the A1 in many ways... the only complaint I have with it is the maximum height of the dispenser only allows for at max a 4 inch coffee cup. Not enough for me to really complain, I just bought new cups for when we are not drinking espresso or cappuccino. I could not make a proper latte with it because of the height. We always prepare our milk with an aerocinno (Nespresso) frother, find it far superior and easier to clean than any of the SuperAutomatic milk machines. This is my 3rd Jura and I expect a solid 7-10 years from it with proper maintenance.
I was told that the ENA4 has a coffee brewing weight range of 6-10gm. This is lower than my Jura Impressa J5 5-16gm range. Does that make a difference as I prefer my coffee strong?
That is correct. All mid and high range units have larger brew units and brew chambers I find that the new pulse brewing helps the strength. On the Ena 4 it is automatically active for drinks up to 75ml
According to the manual, you can add more water to your cup of coffee. I want to make a larger cup of coffee, but I don’t want to grind coffee twice. How can you go over the 250ml that is poured automatically by the machine? I am talking about the Jura ENA 4.
Hi, the manual should have the process detailed. Simply you hold down the coffee button while you are drawing the coffee but check the manual for the details
@@Cook-Culture Thanks for the reply! I tried the process outlined in the manual, which says that you need to hold the coffee cup button for 2 seconds and then stop the pouring when you want to stop it by hitting any button, but the funny thing is that the pouring always ends at 250ml (1cup) no matter how many times you try. I wasted 5 cups of coffee, but the only thing you can achieve here is making a smaller coffee cup rather than larger than 250ml. I feel that the information in the manual and advertisements are misleading unless I am doing it wrong. I tried holding the button for 2, 5, 10 seconds but with the same result. One could say, why would you want to add more water to a perfect coffee cup? but I believe this is a reasonable request and a feature advertised on the machine, but it doesn’t seem to work ☹
I have ENA4 and enjoy it’s coffee. For longer coffee, I’d suggest simply using factory setting americano then drawing a single espresso, which. Will give wonderfully rich coffee and close to 300ml. Otherwise, just extending water volume on the Longo setting will give simply diluted drink.
I have purchased this machine, but unfortunately the lungo option (Americano ?) does not have a nice crema layer. Is that only possible with the espresso option?
@@Cook-Culture thank you for your response !! I do have a crema layer on the lungo, but it is a very thin and rather white coloured "crema". Once I stirr the coffee, it is almost gone. I tried other coffees and changed grinding and strength options, but makes no difference. The espresso does have a mouthwatering crema though....I just wished the same for the americano's/lungo's. I so far regret buying this machine. Greetings...

I was very disappointed trying some of the high end model (not ENA 4) at a Jura reseller store. The espresso/coffee is just not hot enough. You mentioned that the "heat of this machine is incredible" compared to A1. Do you mean the coffee is brewed with a higher temperature on this model?
