That's because there was no media hyped east coast vs west coast beef aka Bad Boy vs Death Row. In the 1980s and early 1990s rappers from all over rarely had any issues while on tour or going to another city/coast.

Music could change anything cause it creates a healthy narrative, or not. Those words are active, and the mind responds to words in one way or another. Hence, Nipsey Hussle referenced having to change his lyrical content in order to prevent violence at his shows. He actually managed to do that by adjusting words; and he even admitted his life shifting after making that decision.

Great interview. I don't think there is any comparison to Bob Dylan. I have seen both Bob Dylan and Ice T in concert totally on different pages. Maybe more Bob Marley or Peter Tosh then Bob Dylan. I saw Ice T in Toronto in the late 80's, BDP, Biz Markie etc. I think he was with Jorge Hinojosa promoting new album at the time. "BANG 9 MURDERING MC'S!" He would yell out to the crowd I remember. I also saw Ice T at Lollapalooza festival. I think Ice T is amazing M.C. and great actor as well. That is why he is the original gangsta! I remember him in Breakin' I think he wore ski goggles back then. What ever happened to Bango the B Boy Outlaw from Cleveland and from Rhyme Syndicate, He had a couple cool tracks, and I never heard of him again? Great interview as usual.
That executive Seymour Stein might have just been referring to the spirit of the artists and Ice’s bold and frank way of expressing himself and ideas with lyrics; he was probably just more familiar with Dylan (who had stuff like the Emmett Till song out there underground when some other white artists would’ve been uncomfortable and dodged the subject) than Tosh and Marley. All of them could make people uncomfortable at times, and Ice certainly lived up to it.
We're glad you enjoyed the interview, Brinky Brinkz. But we think Ice-T was making the comparison as hironoshozo details below. Also, Stein thought of Ice-T as a poet, a la Dylan. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt, as always.

Ice is the shit. My brother chuck put me down with ice. Never stopped listening. Heavy in the playlist.
You said it, Set Go. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.

We're with you, hironoshozo. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.

@@UniqueAccessEnt 👍
I VAGUELY remember some of his lyrics, something like what if we fed them poison and make them fight each like rats. But I do remember he had lyrics in that song. I always found it - odd - they left that part out in later airing of the video.
trence5, we hear you. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Cube wasn’t on because of his beef with NWA and him being on the East coast with Bomb Squad/Public Enemy didn’t help his rep as a solid WestCoast artist just yet.. not to mention his beef with Above the Law who were under Ruthless as well
