Dr. Phillips, Florida has a rich history, from orange groves to the current day vibrant community of shops and restaurants. Dr. Philip Phillips moved to the area in 1894 from Memphis Tennessee and bought an orange grove. From there he grew his orange groves to over 5000 acres and sold the land with orange groves to the Minute Maid Company but kept the land that did not have groves. His vision was to create the first master planned community in Central Florida. Although he passed away before the vision could be a reality, his son carried on the dream and the town of Dr. Phillips Florida was built.
Dr. Phillips Florida is centrally located in the Orlando theme parks area. Part of the Universal Orlando Resort is located in the Dr. Phillips Florida zip code and the location is within 10 minutes of Seaworld Orlando and the Walt Disney World Resort and only 20 minutes from Downtown Orlando Florida.

The residents of Dr. Phillips Florida have a wide array of grocery stores. Here you will find at least three Publix Super Markets, a Sprouts Farmers Market, a Whole Foods Market, The Fresh Market and one of only two Trader Joe's in Orlando.
Dr. Phillips was a philanthropist and created the Dr. P. Phillips Foundation, which supplies grants to local charities, including the construction of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Orlando Florida. The Dr Phillips YMCA is also a recipient of the Dr P Phillips Foundation.
Bay Hill was one of the first luxury communities in the Orlando Florida area. It is the home of the Arnold Palmer Bay Hill Club and Lodge and site of the annual Arnold Palmer Invitational, played in March each year. Bay Hill Florida has homes on the golf course or on the Butler Chain of Lakes.
