Jes the Patriots came out around 2002 or so. They were the first ones who held the white in them all season. Other than Francee( Patriot's parent), white margined hostas would revert to green midsummer. Patriot spawned a whole lot of them that hold their variegation. Minuteman is virtually identical but taller. Loyalist is reversed with the white inside (it's gorgeous too) and Fire and Ice is the same as Loyalist but very small (about 8 inches). We couldn't keep them in stock when they first came out. If you're looking for a very unusual and gorgeous larger hosta, look for Embroidery. We got ONE in. It was one of those huge, monster truck size plants and was priced over 200 bucks. It sold instantly. Never saw another, but I am always watching. My favorite combination of plants involve a plum pudding in front of a Chocolate Joe Pye with a silver lace fern. I have them in front of a redwood fence in bright light but no sun and it's just breathtaking. They're all purple tinted.
Jes, your voice is beautiful at the end of today’s video & I love the plantings you did. P.S. You should share some of your extra Hosta’s with your Mom too. Your family really cleared out that back view up for her 💗
Thanks for singing to us Jes. I get goosebumps every time. Your gardens are beautiful as ever. I started cutting back my perennials these past weeks too. I’ve also started separating them and placing plants around my gardens. Yeah!!! Free plants 😊
Love your movies and glad there is a new one!! I love lady’s mantel to!! Your garden is absolutely beautiful!!I am ready for some cooler weather as I need to work in the garden!!! ❤❤
Great video, Jes. Good to see you back in your garden. So happy to hear you are so busy with your singing events. Your mom will be so happy with her new plants. Hope the rest of your week is awesome. God bless and take care. Cookie in Mandeville Louisiana
Hey there busy girl! Your hair looks so pretty 😊 The gardens still look so nice! Glad you’re still getting warm weather. Can’t wait to see what all you do at your mom’s. ❤
It’s supposed to be 89 and high humidity for at least the next three days plus here, also we’re in a drought. I’m so looking forward to cooler wetter weather. Your garden looks prettier every video.
Omgosh I think I have a bunch of patriot hostas, I know they are an older variety, they look very similar to yours, I never knew the name. I love the ladies mantle, love the circle idea, it reminds me of coral bells a tiny bit..great job, say hi to max & natey..❤
It seems like we were just planning our gardens and planting our gardens up! Time just flies by. So now looking forward to cooler weather and hopefully some lovely fall colors
Your garden is still beautiful, even with autumn approaching. I have started placing some mums in our garden and a few pansies. I'm looking forward to the arrival of my bulb order in November!
Putting that Patriot hosta there was perfect because you didn't have any variegated hosta in that section! I bought some patriot hosta a few falls ago, but they didn't return in the spring. I need to get some more!
Hi Jes 👋 Can’t wait until you do your hosta tour … I’m wondering what the big dark green hostas are against the tree where you removed the ladies mantle Always anticipating your videos ❤ I hope you have a great day 😊
It’s so strange to me but I think most hostas look so similar to me when I see them at the nursery’s I’m always confused as to which ones to buy because I have so many of them… does that make any sense? Lol
They have sprinkler heads pop up for the lawn and flowers. She says she only waters when she plants something. After that, "its on its own". "I'm not hauling hoses around". I LOVE her garden.
@@menow7851 I appreciate your input. However, it is important that I hear from Jes directly, as Jes is a master gardener. Jes has been my inspiration for creating my shade garden. My question is pertaining to her Hostas only. The majority of her Hostas are far away from her house and irrigation system. I am eagerly awaiting Jes' reply. Thanks anyway.
I just water them in when I plant them and them maybe a few more times. But after that they are on their own. The rain and our grass sprinklers hit them.
Good morning everyone! Glad you are back Jes...we missed you!
The purple hydrangea vine is a beautiful vine for your trellis.

Your garden is beautiful! You do such a great job! You do have a beautiful voice! Would love to hear more! 😃
Your running out of space Jes 😂 I see another garden bed in your future!
You inspired me to place rocks around different places. Now when I find a rock, I think "what would Jes do" :)
😊❤
Oh Jes, your singing just turns me to mush! It is soooo beautiful! Wonderful video!

I had a bunch of Patriot hosta at our lake house, brought some home and it makes a great filler in the shade garden.

Hi Jes: how often do you water your Hostas? Have you ever seen any brown or yellow leaves on your beautiful Hostas? Thank you.
