    Beautiful fishes ! Gave up keeping them long time ago as they are very labor intensive, they always (and the water) need to kept close attention for problems/issues. Switch to arowana much much eaiser (as I regularly travel overseas). Seeing this video makes me have thoughts of want to play again, but the thought of all that hard work again nah better not. Maybe next time.

    Ashley can i keep tiger barb,senegal bichir and pleoco together do you think they will live peacefully?

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure if the tiger barbs are big enough to avoid being eaten when the senegal bichir gets to full size. I think a full grown tiger barb is right on the edge of fitting into a full sized bichirs mouth.

    • @khoozichen9255
      @khoozichen9255 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SGBeardedAquarist i will keep them when they are a small and grow up together

    • @mortirius1
      @mortirius1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure you will wake up one day with minus one tiger barb. If the bichir is small then you will be fine, but by the time he's a juvenile then he will start getting a little aggressive. However, how big is the tank? If you have a very large tank with lots of things it would be interesting. But the rule that always goes is big fish eat little fish.

    Goldfish always prone to bladder disease (floating upside down). Wonder how people can keep their goldfish so big. Is there a secret to it?

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      From my conversations with James (i edited that part out cause i thought it might be too dry), I think goldfish are more sensitive to water parameters. And depending on which farm they come from, they have to be acclimatized and quarantined accordingly. However many aquariums are focused on turnover and sell the fish immediately after they receive it. Hence they still look ok at the shop and develop problems when the hobbyist has taken over.
      I can't say this is definitely true or not but it makes sense to me and given his intensive quarantine and acclimation process for goldfish especially from China, I'm inclined to buy into this rationale.

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As for size, bloodline is one of the biggest factors. Followed by size of the tank they are kept in.

    • @khoozichen9255
      @khoozichen9255 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe there's also some issues with the food you feed it with

    • @MrPWotan
      @MrPWotan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the Temperature. If you keep your Goldfish at higher temperatures 27°C-25°C, their digestive system (which is linked to the swim bladder) works much better, and can offer heavy doses of food at all times. If you try to do this on a fish in cold water, even with little food, the food is all "stagnant" in their digestive system, causing much more swimming problems.

    • @MrTopfuel78
      @MrTopfuel78 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lots of vegetable matter helps with there digestive system also warm water to keep the metabolism high
