The baby cuckoo sole task is to eject the eggs and other chicklets to have the nest all to itself, to be fed until mature enough to fly away. If none of the above happens, the baby cuckoo risks death by starvation when all of the birds develop feathers and the host parents can see the difference between their babies and the cuckoo and stop feeding the cuckoo.
