I just downgraded from 12 pro to 11 pro max 2 days ago. Sort of regret upgrading in the first place. 11 pro max is sufficient in every aspect I need, and it has an amazing battery.. 😏 as opposed to the 12 pro. (When I start my day early, like 6am, the battery of 12 pro is at 0 by noon.. real sad)
@UMI What kind of Android device did you use back? Might be a little hard to get used to a new kind of phone. As long as you aren't a phone nerd (like i am 😅) and gets immediately used to it.

@@TacticalTrucker you can’t record 8K By 18.2 megapixel. You need at least 30MP. Are you copy pasting it from some where? Do the math and check you resource. And it has no sense to record 8K on a Phone, the size will be super massive and impossible to record it in ProRes, except apple give 3-4 TB drive option and usbC thunderbolt port for data transfer. Other than that, 4K+ProRes is still the industry standard.
You had me at the intro itself. Wonderful way to show off the phone's camera system! I'm not a heavy camera user from my prev iPhones but I gave my iPhone 12 to my dad so that I could get the 13 Pro for the 120Hz screen. Surprisingly I've been using the new camera system more. I've gotten into macrophotography and my recent trip to Quebec City,Ontario Canada all my videos were stunning to take. I'm loving my Sierra blue iPhone 13 pro :D

@UMI honestly dude oneplus 10 pro shows promise but it comes down to your personal preference is ios more comfortable to you then android or vice versa. In terms of battery I think iphone is the king and in terms of performance again iphone.....but in terms of camera performance both are equal..... Also keep in mind that iphone is alot more expensive especially if you are going for the pro models......

No. Cinematic mode isn’t worth it. You aren’t supposed to upgrade every year. No one expects you to. It’s only people who are encouraging each other to do it. Addiction is bad. And those people who do need to upgrade, don’t need your videos 😏 coz they already know everything you are saying. Those who need your videos, don’t need to upgrade.
This was for sure the best comparison between 12 and 13 pro series. I upgraded from 12 pro to 13 pro. And I’d say the jump IS with it if you’re hardcore into video and photos.

No phone is worth that amount of change. IMHO I get it that's it's a micro computer... Kinda. I would never want to write my screenplays, edit my videos and photos using a cellphone and I had my desktop built for video editing that came with a 22" monitor and I purchased a 42" smartTV monitor and all that cost less then the iPhone 13 does.
I kinda wish Apple or someone else would make a straight camera with some of these smart software features. That way you could make it bulkier and have a bigger battery/swappable storage and such.
Never gonna happen. Apple’s vision is to REPLACE big optics with smart computational photography. Eventually, the iPhone will consistently shoot better photos than DSLRs
@@AsadoMao That may take another 20-30 years because of physics. A small lens and sensor can't compete with a much, much larger set of sensor and lens.

For me, no matter how good the pro camera features are, my DSLR is always going to be better, so whenever I'm in a situation where I would need the pro features, I would just have my camera anyway. So it's good yeah, but for me PERSONALLY not a reason to buy it.
In the beginning, I was sure you shot this video on a mirrorless/DSLR. After you pointed out that the iPhone was your A-ROLL camera today, I looked for the blurry edges on the focused subject (you), and I barely saw it. That's actually great for first-gen stuff.

Apple’s next move should be making two iPhones. For normal everyday people (smaller cameras), and for creator si (bigger camera). Now that’s an untapped market there.

I compared my sisters iPhone 13pro to my 12pro recently and no camera change at all. The cinematic mode was a joke. The 12 pro does all those but I have to manually do it which makes it look better. I’m upgrading to the iPhone 14 pro when it releases.
It was brilliant for apple to have their cinematic concept be people wearing space helmets most the time. That really makes the fake depth of field look more real with easy lines for the camera to distinguish between foreground and background.
Definitely considering gettin one, not more for the cinematic mode, but for the lense improvement in the photos I take. I use a 7+ still, and the quality is great for the older model, I dont lose quality as I zoom into most photos, but I feel like it can be even GREATER with the latest model. Like better HDR and lighting of course. More light >>>> less light. The same with some videos (unfortunately it doesn't have 60fps in 4K) hopefully I have enough money to blow to get one 🤣🤣 Superb review! You had some great points for every aspect of the system!
Samsung had this 4 years ago why is Apple just coming out with this (particularly the 120hz screen) ? Actually they had all of those features and more!
some info is incorrect -the 12 pro didn’t only have digital stabilization but also optical, lens based stabe -this is not the first year that the pro max has the same camera hardware as the pro -the dimensions are not the same between the 12pro and 13 pro: the 13 pro is thicker -you cannot choose the amount of motion blur but the amount of bokeh -you could already color correct photos and videos from the native ios app on previous iphones and software versions
I got the iPhone 13 pro max 512gb but after finding out that it’s 6gb of memory per 1 minute of Pro Res Video 4K HDR footage. I kinda regret not getting the 1TB option… I mean 1 hour of this type of footage is 360gb…so I guess I’m just going to have to off load all my footage onto my 5TB hard drive every time I use that video format. 🤷🏻♂️ oh well. I’ll just get the 1TB next time I upgrade. Which probably won’t be until the iPhone 15 or 16 come out lol oh well. What’s 2-3 years?

Loving the cinematic mode. I can’t wait for future improvements…I upgraded from 12 to the 13 if cinematic mode had the pro res feature I would’ve no doubt grabbed the pro.
You can record Cinematic Video at 1080p30 with Dolby Vision HDR. The fact that it can even do that with Dolby Vision is a small miracle, since all of that depth data is both captured in real time and preserved so you can edit the focal point in post. It'll be a while till you can record both in Cinematic Mode and in Dolby Vision AND in ProRes 4:2:2 HQ (which is what the ProRes mode shoots at), since even the ProRes mode can't shoot in Dolby Vision right now.
As with everything else, it's all about the lighting, framing, and color grading. Everyone complaining Cinematic Mode looks bad and it's not 4K, but it's just another tool that if you know how to use can look amazing, as per this video.
Next time try not read from the promter. More people will watch your videos. Because there is to much speech. People like more natural videos. You get what İ mean! Good luck bro👍🏼
Hello. Just a thought. ProRes requires 6GB for 1 minute. This iPhone has the suffix “pro”. Why Apple hasn’t changed the lightening port to a more efficient USB-C to transfer data from phone to desktop computer? I think the lightening port will take a very long time to load such heavy files.

It’s funny that majority of the comments think they’re gonna output really good colors as lighting like in this video. Doubt most of them will even do color grading/correcting.
It’s not worth it. I was disappointed with real world results vs marketing footage. I rather wait for it to render a final quality and have no issues, than having real-time feedback where the 3D depth looks unnatural.
@H M Do you gain something from commenting this? In less than 1% of situations would I take the iPhone over even a mid range DSLR, not to mention a modern mirrorless camera, if I was specifically planning on recording a video.
Awesome phone review thank you. I am late, but I just ordered the iPhone 12 Pro. I was rocking a seven year old budget LG Android, but the downside it was running out of memory because of the 32 GB memory. I did use a portable memory card because of that issue. I don't like the continuous updates, I noticed it ran slow because of the outdated software. The photos and videos was poor quality on my LG budget LG Android. I think i will have a much better enjoyable experience with my iPhone 12 Pro.
I preffer the notch too. Except the better face id and camera is also a mark for iphone. Is a chacteristic that anyone can identify to the iphones in a split of a second. Apple must keep notch as long as she can! It's also a beautiful design bar. All the other screens in the market are identical!

6gb for a minute 😂,i think they should have come with thier own codec which compressed the video more than HEVC.Apple always makes practical changes which can be used,but at times they take thier sweet time to implement what the market already gives.Most people don't have a 8k or even a 4k tv or screen yet apart from gamers or perhaps people who do alot of editing or are rich.A15 Bionic surely be giving everyone a hard time like always.I love how apple still pays attention towards thier built in player and editor.
Wrong, he should compare it to the 13 Pro Max and the 12 pro max. Not the iPhone Pro against the 13 Pro. The similarities in the Max versions are almost the same. And various camera test showed that the 12 pro max actually shot better pictures and video in the 13 promax. Do some research

On a smaller screen, that "halo" effect is almost unnoticeable. On a big screen, it's glaringly visible..

Cinematic mode is not that good. I have both iphone 13 pro and mini. It is nice for family movies but not for YT or any other professional work

It is already one of the best cinematic mode footages I've ever seen, though it still feels fake, but not as hell.

-the dimensions are not the same between the 12pro and 13 pro: the 13 pro is thicker
-you cannot choose the amount of motion blur but the amount of bokeh
-you could already color correct photos and videos from the native ios app on previous iphones and software versions
I got the iPhone 13 pro max 512gb but after finding out that it’s 6gb of memory per 1 minute of Pro Res Video 4K HDR footage. I kinda regret not getting the 1TB option… I mean 1 hour of this type of footage is 360gb…so I guess I’m just going to have to off load all my footage onto my 5TB hard drive every time I use that video format. 🤷🏻♂️ oh well. I’ll just get the 1TB next time I upgrade. Which probably won’t be until the iPhone 15 or 16 come out lol oh well. What’s 2-3 years?
U know prores is only for edit, there is no point to use it if u use ur phone regular
@@itwasme2435 yeah im aware of that. That’s why I said I would off load the footage to my hard drive. For editing and so it doesn’t sit in my phone taking up space.

Calling it cinematic mode while locking the framerate at 30fps is almost criminal.
Most movies are shot at 24 FPS so not really a big deal in my opinion.

Loving the cinematic mode. I can’t wait for future improvements…I upgraded from 12 to the 13 if cinematic mode had the pro res feature I would’ve no doubt grabbed the pro.
You can record Cinematic Video at 1080p30 with Dolby Vision HDR. The fact that it can even do that with Dolby Vision is a small miracle, since all of that depth data is both captured in real time and preserved so you can edit the focal point in post. It'll be a while till you can record both in Cinematic Mode and in Dolby Vision AND in ProRes 4:2:2 HQ (which is what the ProRes mode shoots at), since even the ProRes mode can't shoot in Dolby Vision right now.
The camera bump on the 13 pro just kinda ruins its design. Compared to the slick look of the 12 pro
As with everything else, it's all about the lighting, framing, and color grading. Everyone complaining Cinematic Mode looks bad and it's not 4K, but it's just another tool that if you know how to use can look amazing, as per this video.
This is actually very helpful. I have the 12 pro and enrolled in the upgrade program. I may make that move.

Hello. Just a thought. ProRes requires 6GB for 1 minute. This iPhone has the suffix “pro”. Why Apple hasn’t changed the lightening port to a more efficient USB-C to transfer data from phone to desktop computer? I think the lightening port will take a very long time to load such heavy files.

It’s funny that majority of the comments think they’re gonna output really good colors as lighting like in this video. Doubt most of them will even do color grading/correcting.

It’s not worth it. I was disappointed with real world results vs marketing footage. I rather wait for it to render a final quality and have no issues, than having real-time feedback where the 3D depth looks unnatural.

@H M Do you gain something from commenting this? In less than 1% of situations would I take the iPhone over even a mid range DSLR, not to mention a modern mirrorless camera, if I was specifically planning on recording a video.
Awesome phone review thank you. I am late, but I just ordered the iPhone 12 Pro. I was rocking a seven year old budget LG Android, but the downside it was running out of memory because of the 32 GB memory. I did use a portable memory card because of that issue. I don't like the continuous updates, I noticed it ran slow because of the outdated software. The photos and videos was poor quality on my LG budget LG Android.
I think i will have a much better enjoyable experience with my iPhone 12 Pro.
Just to let you know you can do 4k at 30fps if you get the 256 gig model

I preffer the notch too. Except the better face id and camera is also a mark for iphone. Is a chacteristic that anyone can identify to the iphones in a split of a second. Apple must keep notch as long as she can! It's also a beautiful design bar. All the other screens in the market are identical!

6gb for a minute 😂,i think they should have come with thier own codec which compressed the video more than HEVC.Apple always makes practical changes which can be used,but at times they take thier sweet time to implement what the market already gives.Most people don't have a 8k or even a 4k tv or screen yet apart from gamers or perhaps people who do alot of editing or are rich.A15 Bionic surely be giving everyone a hard time like always.I love how apple still pays attention towards thier built in player and editor.

Wrong, he should compare it to the 13 Pro Max and the 12 pro max. Not the iPhone Pro against the 13 Pro. The similarities in the Max versions are almost the same. And various camera test showed that the 12 pro max actually shot better pictures and video in the 13 promax. Do some research
