    Between you, Göran Winblad and The Unlazy Way, my amount of motivation to go for a run whenever possible is through the roof! Thanks and good luck keeping up with the Vlog every week, it must be quite a challenge as well.

    Finally! Finally! Finally! This is exactly what I wanted to see coming up. BUT WAY FASTER than expected. Amazing job Jeff!
    I would love to know what you do in the gym. Just a quick screenshot would work for me so you don't have to go into much detail. Especially interested in what you do for Hamstring strength. I tend to get some discomfort in my high hamstring areas during high elevation weeks.

    I’m not a runner and def not an ultra runner, I mainly love hiking and strength training but I find ultrarunning so fascinating and love your channel. After watching a couple of videos from different 100mile races etc I was so i terested to see how an athlete trains for this, so thanks so much for sharing. Cant wait to see more! Planning a weekend trip to hike in Chamonix this summer (I live in Switzerland) because I saw so much beautiful scenery when watching content about UTMB🥰

    Hey Jeff - just wanted to drop you a note that these training diaries have been of great use to me. I'm a novice runner who loves to hike and these diaries have helped me figure out how to train for long runs that I'd never done before (at 38). Last week I just did my first 2 hours on trail & it felt great! Prior to these diaries I assumed ultra runners were a little crazy and over-trained - I never got the concept of an easy pace until discovering Stephen Seiler and practical stuff like your training diaries.

    Wow, your approach to training is so different than mine - I've now switched to a totally unstructured approach. Yet somehow, we land very close on how it actually looks on a weekly basis, and the performance outcome seems similar. Pretty sure we'd be back and forth all day if our racing schedule ever overlap. Good luck for 2022!

    Thank Jeff to share your progress with us. Regarding trainingpeaks you have an amazing TSS sum for the week you quickly displayed. Maybe you could show us if you have an ATP and if you are using these data to adjust your training. If I remember well you are doit most of it on feelings based in the past. Working with a coach have you evaluated your aerobic and anaerobic thresholds?

  • @ChamindaJ

    Looks like another great series to follow. A couple of questions: on the rest day, do you completely take a day off or do you do something like leisurely walks or yoga? I am not sure you have documented your training day meal plans yet however, I like to see/learn what do you eat in a day and meal prep as well.

    Great video Jeff - I’m really going to enjoy watching these. I’m wondering if you can talk a bit about how your structure your strength/run workout days. Do you do your run immediately following your strength training? Or do you separate them - morning strength and evening run or visa versa. Do you find the strength training affects the quality of your run particularly if you have a workout (e.g. speed work or hill intervals) planned that same day? Thanks!

  • @nicolasmachado447
    @nicolasmachado447 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would love to know if during your 3 weeks of work you gotta increase distance and also elevation each saturday. Like some kind of progression. Or if you do always 4 hours…it’d be interesting. Personaly i do prefer to increase each week distance and elevation but that’s my point of view.

  • @gregorylebret
    @gregorylebret 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very cool subject Jeff!
    When you are on a training run, you have the time or distance as a target. What about the altitude difference as a target or does it comes just with your route/distance?

    Why is the 90 minute Sunday run considered a back to back/long run and not just an easy run after a long run?
    I've always done mine the other way, 10-15 miles Saturday then the long run Sunday but had always been under the impression back to backs were referring to days specifically longer than a normal run.
    Perhaps just semantics.

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're right, at 90 minutes it could simply be considered an easy run, but we'll be increasing this over the coming weeks so I suppose you could call it a placeholder for now. Eventually, it will be a true back-to-back long run.

    This is a great idea Jeff! What exercises do you focus on during your weight training sessions?

  • @bikeinmotion
    @bikeinmotion 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How do you get 130 TSS with 1:22 of easy running 😮
    I get about 62 for an hour of easy running - either based on pace or watt - even less based on heartrate ;)

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. I don't actually pay much attention to the metrics in TrainingPeaks - I just use it for the scheduling, and then analyze my data in COROS Training Hub and on Strava. It may be calculating some of the data incorrectly from my watch.

    • @bikeinmotion
      @bikeinmotion 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JeffPelletier Ah ok I see. Maybe you have set your threshold too low that could be a reason :)

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s probably it - I’ve never looked at the thresholds for power which is something new for me on a watch.

    • @bikeinmotion
      @bikeinmotion 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JeffPelletier The TSS in Trainingpeaks gets calculated on the threshold you set for power or hr or pace. So yes if your Coros now records power and you didnt set the threshold in TP it might be high

    What is the race you are running in Georgia?

    • @JeffPelletier

    What are those short runs on your strength days for? Garbage miles? ;)

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Touché 😂. Eric actually has that 30 minutes as an optional run on Friday and I suspect may eventually change that to a cross-training session as he has in the past. There’s not a lot of benefits in less than 45-60 minutes of running, although I find I feel better with a little consistency otherwise I end up just sitting all day!

    • @shady1080
