Who needs British fish? EU clean water laws already revoked in october 2021: "MPs vote to allow water companies to dump raw sewage into rivers and seas.. The Government has given polluters the green light to pump raw sewage into British rivers and seas in an ‘extremely disappointing’ move. The bill, intended to revamp the UK’s environmental regulations post Brexit, currently allows raw sewage to be discharged into the country’s waterways. In 2020, water companies discharged raw sewage more than 400,000 times over a period of 3.1 million hours, according to the Environment Agency."
"RIP wild swimming! Last year, the images of blissy swimmers we’d become accustomed to were replaced by pictures of floating faeces and stories about people falling horribly ill after ingesting raw sewage.." (22 Jan 2023)

Here's an unavoidable FACT - more than 75% of the fish landed at UK ports is NOT popular on British plates - in other words it was always regularly exported outside the UK - guess where the single biggest market for that exported fish was - got it in one - the European mainland. I wonder where all of those fisher folk who enthusiastically voted LEAVE in June 2016, because they presumably believed the bull**** expounded during the referendum campaign and a bonanza was on the horizon, thought they were going to sell their new found bounteous catches?

  • @stephenconway2468

Let's mention the first and most important issue first. The EU does not need the UK. The UK needs the EU's market. This was always the case and it was known and understood by Farage and others. They just preferred not to mention it.
Whatever you may think or say makes zero difference. The EU has the leverage. We need them more than they need us.
Fishing of course is not important to Westminster (or Farage) so it was always going to be this way.
