The day after the plane was unloaded from the drop off vehicle. Yes it’s on display at The Military Aviation Museum in Virginia. It will fly for the air shows.
Outstanding what I see but was hoping for the guns to be in place. Would love to see it fly some day. The 39 is my #1 favorite WWII aircraft. Best wishes for success on this. Would be the ultimate dream to fly one of these.
a beautiful aircraft, little appreciated or overshadowed by contemporary fighters. But when you see the results in combat in its comfort zone, "Low level" and in the hands of good pilots, it was a machine that did not forgive its rival. The Soviets "Voyenno-vozdushnye sily, VVS" took great advantage of it and had great aces PS: thank you for showing these magnificent images
It was just rebuilt at this time. At The Fighter Factory, we have learned that this airplane likes dry runways. If the grass is wet, this plane will sink it’s nose wheel and be stuck.
A lot of them served as advanced training for pilots stateside. They turn up in numerous pilot's accounts. If you're going to fly that fast, you have to learn how to make decisions that fast. As for the counter-balance, it was built around the guns.
The attention to detail is off the scale. Just beautiful!
I bet they didn’t come out of the factory looking that good. A true labor of love.
Thank you for sharing this.

It’s airworthy now
@@philschopshop4591 Just saw this again - 11/15/2024. Are there any videos of this aircraft flying? Would love to see them.
@ look up p38 first time start up in America
Stunned I am. Right there in full color. Nice.
One of favorite WWII aircraft.
Bell's Airacobra really was just a masterpiece in packaging, even if the tight packaging itself gave issues.
I always thought the P-39 had a canon in the nose cone. The plane is beautiful though!!!
1:37 -- is that a weight to replace the missing weight of the guns?
Was going to ask the same question. That's a lot of weight, but it did have a lot of guns + ammo.
If it origionaly had the 37mm gun in the nose, yes. A lot of weight.

P.S. The Snap On Rachet will perform excellent. Try and finding an original may be extremely difficult.
