- Welcome to Pokemon Snakewood, one of the most insane GBA rom hacks! This game takes place in the Hoenn Region, three years after the events of Ruby and Sapphire but a lot has changed! A zombie plague has taken over the region, creating zombie Pokemon, new Pokemon, and new Pokemon evolutions. Will we be able to uncover the mystery behind our lost memories and save the world from the demons trying to take it over?

And the name Galactamon is a reference to Galactaknigth

it's worth noting that there were pirated copies of telefang that were "localized" as Pokemon Diamond and Jade versions. In fact, that's how most people know telefang.
I thought it was a reference to Digimon.
I remember playing this ROM hack back in 2013. It was legit so much fun and I really enjoyed all the different references, characters and new Pokemon.

I used cheat codes to complete the maze. Specifically, the code where you can walk through walls. I also cheated and got a different starter cos the starters you get suck ass!
Could’ve been the best rom of all time if the creator didn’t drop the ball with the story.
The creator made the story like it is on purpose. I think it was his first ever rom hack and he wanted it to be dark but not super serious

He got about a third or half way through, got bored, and decided to revamp the entire story, explaining the sudden shift half way through with Alicia suddenly being a horseman.

That game is a bit nutty but watched a video that went into it a bit more and found out the creator of the hack legit says it is bad, was an early work of theirs, *and* they kind of ended one plot thread too soon so had to just make up other stuff to fill in the gaps, like the zombie thing ended before they had a full game so they just kinda threw in bunch of the other shit, but then had to end *that* also so that is why so much stuff happens after the E4
Like seriously, zombies? That is a decent enough idea for a hack, but adding random other evolutions and various other fakemon just makes it seem so.. out there.. but the egg is a funny joke while actually being useful
Also the video I watched, the person somehow sequence broke a bit, so there may or may not be some accidental nonlinearity to some portions
Whenever I think about Snakewood I remember the phrase "better to be memorably bad than forgettably mediocre"
It's still my favorite rom hack just because of how out there it was. It was like a giant shitpost where the developer clearly messed up the plot and still decided to just have fun with it. The post game was funny as hell and I will always have a soft spot for it.
Say what you will, but at least this game gave a conclusion, rather than just go on an indefinite hiatus. I see people rate edgelord fan games high and it genuinely confuses me. From the start, you can tell this was someone's first rom hack and it wasn't trying to do anything ground-breaking. There are only, like, 3 well written Pokemon fan games out there, and they have an entire team working on it. For such a hated rom hack, everyone knows Snakewood. The same can't be said for so many other fangames and hacks.

This game should be remasters or reboot it has a lot potential

As truly absurd and awful as this hack is, it will always be a nostalgic favorite of mine from when i watched Haydunn play it 10+ years ago
I liked it too. Haydunn introduced me to it and made me seriously consider playing it, but I think it was the Deadly Seven puzzle that made me say no.

the reason that I kinda hated it was because of all the fakemon, and because some of those fakemon have Wonder Guard ability, and you can't tell their typing from first glance, so none of your damaging moves can hit them, you need to inflict burn or poison status to finally beat them
some of those fakemon have the Dark-Ghost typing of Spiritomb and the Wonder Guard ability, now before Fairy type existed, Dark-Ghost typing had no super effective move that would work on it, so that Wonder Guard ability practically made such pokemon invincible
because of the awful as hell level curves and balancing, softlocks everywhere (even at the end), shit sprites and no plot at all, but the little plot that is there is super edgy
Jup, generally people always like the first few hours of the game, but as soon as the Asimov brothers (or whatever they are called :P) get into play, the plot completely gets ofputting.
I think it gets a bad reputation because it's just so out there and is packed full of references. People looking for a serious game shouldn't bother with it. The post game was funny as hell and I have nothing but fond memories of this game.
This game was a bit challenging for me so I just quit, but I may play it again because of this video

I'm only halfway through the video and already I appreciate how you approach the hack with more analytic aproach then any other video on the internet, which focus more on critisizing the hack. Yes, it is not perfect, the story is edgy, but let's be honest, this is a product of it's time, when a lot of hacks were edgy. I must say, I now appreciate this hack for it's attempt to balance out some of Pokemon. The author had an idea of strenghts and weaknesses of many Pokemon and tried to fix them. For it's time, it is quite a competent hack.
That looked fun as hell.
I don't care to much about plot, that was all over the place but still ended up at the right spot.
To bad this ain't an actual game, I'd definitely get it ✌️

Well the one thing I could say that this game might be the grounds for a Ash x May story (if you are into advance shipping).
He is how it goes: It starts when Ash received a call from May and she is calling for help to save her region from some...monsters. Ash remembered how May and Max used old folklore of the monsters to scare one another. Ash then realized that the rest of the Pokemon World has quarantined the Hoen region. Ash managed to get into Hoen and found Max alive...but has amnesia.
Skipping to the near end Ash found some strange pillars and broke one of them, May was inside. Ash helped her as she adjusted to being free.
I remember this being the OG game and seemed like an amazing game and then the story line and plot came at you like a truck 😅

This game is so legendary, alot of people legit hate this romhack but me? I fucking loved it and hated it at the same time... The sheer amount of time i spent playing this god-awful sorry excuse of a rom hack. I love it❣️
I think if the battles were not filled with difficulty jumps, forced grinding, annoying puzzles, it would be more well-liked. For me however, the unique story and setting combined with GBA pokemon engine really gives it a immersive experience not found in any pokemon fangames. It feels like Earthbound actually, with a bright-sunny presentation despite the horrors present in the world.

I played this once, and somehow won against the powered up watson fight with a level 1 rock type cause somehow there weren't any moves except electric moves, well at least at the time there weren't, dont know if any updates changed that lol
