Another excellent video! You are an inspiration and a wealth of information. I am planning to hike the CDT next year and your videos are instrumental. I enjoy following your adventure and look forward to watching them every morning. Thank you for taking us along!
As I approach 59, I really admire all your outdoor accomplishments and all that "time on trail" that you have put in. You finally arrived at someplace that I've been to--Leadville!
Great video and brought back many good memories of taking groups of high school students from "flatland" Missouri to Leadville for a week of tent camping just outside of town at Painter Boy Campground. Many of them had never been to the Rockies and it was always fun to hear them exclaim, "There's another one!" (mountain) after we had driven through Kansas into Colorado and began seeing the mountains in the distance. We would always go white-water rafting, hiking up some 12,000 foot peaks, do a service project for the town of Leadville, and go have fun in Breckenridge. Love the mountains!!
You are still crushing the miles. Age sixty something? Hah. It’s all relative. Few your age could put in the miles that you are doing day after day. And with what I would guess to be a 25+ lb pack. Much respect to you!
here in Colorado these days its either rain or the whole thing is burning down. I am thankful we don't have any forest fires this year. I am 67, Mike. You are inspirational. Thank you for your inspiring videos!
Good morning, Mike. Loved today's video. Rushing water. Peaceful lakes. Plenty of forests. Great mountain views. What more could someone ask for? And you hiked 28 miles. Great views of the tramily for the sunrise. Are ya'll gonna meet up in Leadville? Ya'll are really doing well. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.
Great day on trail .. Wow , 28 miles ,, that's huge ... Agree , Deet is the only mosquitoe juice I use on the body ,, other stuff just doesn't work for me ... plus treating outerwear with Permethrin... The older I get , the more the bug bites bother me ... and scratch til I bleed ... Stay Safe ...
My take to my grandchildren, is once all the younger people do as many miles on their body as life throws at you in your lifetime in every shape and form they want be as fast. No shame.😊😊😊😊😊🦋❤️
They say age is only a number and in your case, the numbers are adding up, but in miles faster than in years. Those "youngsters" half your age may be faster than you are currently, but let's check back with them in 30 years to see how they're doing. Your trail name is well-deserved, Energizer. You just keep going and going and going . . .
You are doing very well. Of course the young folks will do the daily legs a couple minutes faster than you but it doesn't matter. The trail before the Holy Cross Wilderness, through the swampy area, is so well maintained because this is part of the Leadville 100 mile race. You did a lot of sections of it, coming from Winfield.
Good morning 😊 Old ~~nope nope nope you are doing amazing !! Each day you are amazing !! Another great video Thank you for taking us on your journey Motoring On Mike!!
It's funny with these expansive and beautiful scenes, be they in photos or video, when I'm looking at the scene, I never put skeeters in the picture . How heartbreaking to fall in love with a scene and then you get to go there! And then clouds of skeeters. So sad. I do not understand the purpose of the little devils. Thank goodness we at least have DEET.
I’ve been curious about your shave kit. You mention a “body razor” in your CDT gear video. Are you just wet shaving on trail (no cream), shaving only in town (w/ cream), or what is your typical routine???

I think you are doing great! To quote Toby Keith, "How old would you be if you didn't know the day you were born."😮
Cranking it out, dude--you have lots on us weekend warriors!
