    This is what every "reviewer" out there should do. This is what we "listeners" want. The BEST roundup/shootout i have ever witnessed. Im a metalhead and every shootout video i find out there its either slaphand, jazzy moves, or some weak attempt to play something for ME. You did it exactly the way everybody else should be doing it. Short simple elegant and of course.....the riffs has to be the same whatever style you play. I found the Warwick to be greater than i expected. Le fay surprised me (never heard it b4) Dingwall sounds too "solo" for me and the MM is maybe just ok. Peavey too. Im going to listen many more times but today my money is on the W and the LF :-) Thank you. Thank you Thank you.

    This format is an excellent way to hear the difference between basses. Nathan's precise playing and meticulous recording left all the differences to the basses.
    I think based on this, the Peavey is the all-around best bass. Surprised? I'm not. I've owned all kinds of basses, amps, and etc, and Peavey can really make stuff. But Dingwall? WOW. I had never heard one really played before. It is the kind of pure piano tone that Entwistle was always headed toward with his Alembics. That is a fantastic bass. The other three did not impress me, and I was surprised to find the Music Man kinda taking last place, in my opinion.
    Looking forward to Nathan's other vids ...

      Agreed. I'm almost always in favor of Warwick in any sort of comparison, but in this specific demonstration, overall, I would list: Le Fay, Cirrus, and then a toss up between the Thumb & NG2. Both excelled in different categories, and both have equally arousing sexy factors. My biased opinion would choose the Thumb over the Ng2. Last and certainly least is that strange looking Fender. 😜

      The Warwick and Musicman were both really bad tonally on the B and E. I've read a ton of reviews on the Warwick Thumb bass and a friend has one. For 3k-5k for a Warwick Thumb I expect a lot more. When the Peavey and less expensive Dingwall blow it away where is the 1500 dollar price difference justified, unless you like saying I play a German made Warwick? It's a beautiful Bass but for me the premium price isn't justified.

      Except the Music Man sounded best for slap by far. But the bassist left the slap EQ for fingerstyle, when he should have rolled off the tone knob. But overall, the Music Man sounded puncher and better than the rest. The neck thru design of the Peavey makes it poor for slap. So it was Music Man, Dingwall, the last one, and the Peavey and Warrick tied for last place. Sorry.

    Years ago Peavey promoted a "clinic tour" with Neil Zaza, Bill "budda"Dickens, and Bobby Rock. They were ALL totally awesome. The Budda was playing a Peavey Cirrus 6 string, it sounded incredible....!!! Bobby Rock had a huge drum kit...he played like 7 or 8 different drum styles at one time..fuc**ng nuts !!! ALL were INCREDIBLE...!!!!

    The dingwall and le fay seemed the most well rounded and versatile. The warwick was very good for the slap and distortion. The Peavy was decent all around. But I made a few stink faces to the music man

      That musicman bass is used for more deeper songs. You can see that it does pretty good in drive. Not in the others since its more of a metal bass.

    • @josephcote7702
      @josephcote7702 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll say, as someone who never thought they'd own a MusicMan because they always sounded too scooped...try out a Bongo5. I now own a Bongo and it's because of those neo pickups and that 4 band EQ. The high and low mid adjust makes such a huge difference. Plus, you can pick a used Bongo5 up for almost half price of a new one. :)

      david xxxxx Have to agree. Although nothing sounded bad the peavy had consistent great tone & stood out whatever pick up or technique was used. The Dingwall probably had the fullest b string sound due to its much bigger scale length. The Le Fay also sounded clear & punchy.

      @Mike Murphy sorry but Spector doesn't have the growl like Warwick does. Only ones that are similar are Warwick Streamer Lx and Spector Euro Lx. Only thing that is same is their body design. In terms of tone, electronics, pickups,... they are completely different.

    • @rarebasses
      @rarebasses 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mike Murphy Not true are all! True that the owner of Warwick copied the NS-2 for the original Streamer (I actually owned a 80’s and it sounded just like a Spector with NO growl), but NO Spector has the distinct Growl of a Warwick. None. I own a NS-2J and a Warwick Jazzman Corvette FNA and the Warwick growls and the Spector sounds like a Spector. No growl.
