Garry Salsman was my dad. He passed in July of 2007 and Wally Jenkins died just 3 weeks before him. When I was a kid I would go to Wakulla with Dad and some of the other guys that dove with him and I just hung out on the property feeding squirrels and birds. So many great memories. Seeing this today, January 1, 2021, was bittersweet but started the new year off right. Thank you for sharing this!

Thanks, I can't remember the source of this VDR tape, I have a feeling it was loaned to me while I was working in Perth WA around 1992. I enjoyed watching it then and discovered it recently when clearing out these items. I am really glad that I was able to share it and that you were able to watch it.

Christopher, As far as I know this was filmed originally by National Geographic, a documentary for deep dives. I have the original VHS which was sent to my mother by National Geographic but of course, nothing to play it on. My mother loaned it to me to have copies made for the rest of the family members but never trusted anyone to copy it to a DVD so still have it. In case you are ever interested, I know the facts about how he and only two others were finally given permission to dive Wakulla Springs by the then owner of the property, Ed Ball. Thanks again, Karen

I'm more impressed with the 70/80s tech CIS Lunar rebreather than today's rebreathers in 2022. Honestly it shows the technology available to a NASA employee since he developed it for over 10 years starting in the 70s. Obviously a 200 pound unit isn't practical but showing what the computers could do even in 87 (35 years ago) is amazing. A modern marvel

Yess! @DiveTalk Would love to see them react to this one! Also be curious to hear their input on the prototype rebreathers they're using in this. So much interesting tech used in this old video.

Is that Wes Skiles narrating? Was Paul Heinerth part of this expedition?

Yes that's Wes! I can always tell from his accent 😊 I do think it's Paul Heinerth as well. I just re-watched A Water's Journey recently with Jill Heinerth, Wes, and Tom Morris.
