    3:16 - cover crops serve all the purposes you mention... and another huge benefit is soil retention and silt reduction.

    I’ve been following Jeff as well as your channel for about the same amount of time after buying some land and started hunting a couple years ago. It’ll be interesting to see the results of till vs no till plots on your property.

      I'm excited too. Been spending a lot of time already starting to implement the plan. Looking forward to fall.

    Great video, Courtney! I love the "batter up" shot with the RhinoHide Canopy!

      Haha, I want to redo that shot. I had a "bum" arm back then and couldn't really swing it like I wanted!

    neat video. have never heard of a crimper before. looks pretty cool. good luck with your food plots. I'll bet they'll be coming in from all over.

    How thick is the metal on the crimper. If I hit a rock or stump will it survive or is this only for prepared ground?

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I don't see the answer on their website, but definitely could reach out to them to find out! www.packermaxx.com

      @@GoodWorksTractors very much a product I would use heavy clay up by grand rapids MI and cover crops help with it but when doing forage plots etc I'm trying to avoid doing a real clearing before planting crops.
      Currently I just extend my top link and drag my flail mower around on it's rear roller doesn't crimp properly but does flatten.

    • @packermaxx8085
      @packermaxx8085 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The metal blades are 3/16” thick steal. We do not recommend on extremely rocky soils but will take reasonable rock and stump hits. We have never had a blade break off. Even if one bends a little it will still do the crimping job.
      Thanks!

    Why not seed into the Rye and then Flailmower which would give a nice thick mat of cover to protect the seed bed with a layer of mulch? no need for a crimper but the cultipacker is great.

    i wanted to add a lawn roller to my tools but going back and forth between something like this and a roller. I cant find a good quality roller that's not quite commercial-level. I live in florida so when i till it really fluffs up thought a roller i could use after i re till / seed my yard. when not seeding or overseeding i would just maybe use it to smooth out everything a bit after it rains (sand really moves around). I think this would pretty much do want i want it to for seeding perhaps even better however doubt i could use to just smooth lawn.

  • @willbass2869

    You can direct drill larger seed like corn soybean directly into "green" freshly crimped rye....but you might have problems with small seed clover though.
    Clover really needs a shallow drilling and the drill will "float" on the mat of rye thus making soil contact more iffy

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never drilled clover. Broadcasting and barely covering has worked really well for me historically.

    Thanks for the review. The audio is clear and the video good....BUT, please...stay on topic. Your wandering commentary is not useful.
