Bought my wife a 2021 tahoe z71 back in December of 2020. Been in the shop 3 times for a total of 3 weeks. Replaced the ECM the first time, and the rest has been for a "service safety restraint system" message. And it is back again. The electric systems are garbage. Infotainment system is buggy as hell. The drive, suspension, and all other key items are awesome. Love driving it, but these electrical items are frustrating. Dealer doesn't have a clue either

@@sarcasticguyz6251 it's been a "car thing" forever that when a new generation comes out, wait another year before you buy it. Let the 1st year issues get sorted out before you buy one.
The best year Tahoes to buy are, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2023. Also the Police Version of the Tahoe, the PPV is a great buy with the years of, 2018 to now, skipping the 2022 year though. PPV Tahoes are also having the same lifter, pushrod and camshaft problems.
I leased a new Tahoe in September and a few days later discovered the same problem. Headrests won't stay up. I'm still waiting for the dealer to get the parts. Ridiculous. Otherwise, the car is fantastic. Great video. Nice car!
Lot of quirky stuff for sure. But you can bet that 5.3 will go over 300k with no issues. Once they work out the annoying recalls will be good to go. Was your headlight recall related to them turning blue?
After the third lifter service, we traded it in for a used truck. For a $80,000 tahoe, it was a lemon. Now GM announced that they won’t put the 5.3 nor the 6.2 gas engine in the Tahoe, only the diesel. At least that is what they announced on Detroit local news.
Tahoes have had a problem with the lifters and pushrods and camshafts for years. It's all due to the adaptive fuel management system that shuts down cylinders when you are cruising. The police version of the Tahoe, the PPV even has these issues but for law enforcement its happening even sooner and more often because of how officers drive these things and how long the vehicle stays running for. For the K-9 Tahoe PPVs the Tahoe stays on for the entire 10-12 hour shift to keep the AC running for the dog.
Whats weird is that even the year model tahoes with the worst issues, they still hold their value.....like....a 2014 Tahoe Police Version, the PPV (police versions have way better upgraded parts) with 160k miles on them a still selling for around 17k and up to almost 20k with one with a few less miles. Im thinking of taking it apart to see if it’s a loose wire or something . Dealer wants $900 for the radio plus labor and diagnostic so probably around $1200 . And of course my extended warranty doesn’t cover . Anyone else having this problem?
No way I'll ever buy another suburban. When I bought my 2007 LTZ, sticker was about $47K. Based on historic car inflation prices, a similarly equipped 2021 Suburban should cost only $51,600. Instead, it's $73K.

Thank you for the video. I’m looking to get a suburban as well but with the Deisel. Ive test driven the Nissan NV3500 & was considering turning that into 4WD. Doing that would cost around 80k. I had a 2500 2005 avalanche that I had traded ( loved loved loved that truck, not sure why Chevy stopped making the 2500, I would have bought another one) in for a traverse 4 years ago. I missed my truck really bad so I got this suburban instead. I love being up higher than the traverse and I get better gas mileage than the Avalanche got. 11 mpg compared to the the 19. I love the new body. Even though, we've only had it for a week, I have no complaints. I just need to get use to the buttons instead of the gear shift. My headrests stay up so far.
Awesome. Congrats on the new suburban. I can help with a button. To turn on the dome light inside the cabin you must press and hold the map lights above your rear view mirror. Enjoy!
We have had two trucks and a Tahoe with the 6.2 engine. Both trucks got around 23 mile per gallon just running to work and 30 on a long trip. The Tahoe only got 19 mpg and had lifter problems. That might be pointing out a problem before it turns bad.

Thanks
That was helpful
I have 2021 Suburban RST no problem . loving it !
Tell me your take on both.
In short the Suburban is much much larger inside and out. The 5.3 motor in the Suburban is tried and true and has top-notch reliability. I owned 4 GMC/Chevy with them. As for the Audi nothing wrong with them but just not big enough for our application. It really depends on your use. I'd really have to know your situation to make a fair recommendation.
what exterior color is this?
Hi - It is Satin Steel Metallic.
@@ChadOutdoors thank you!
@@ChadOutdoors Definitely looks more silver in your video than their website. Thanks for making the video
GM suck man i bought a new escalade and transmission went out im done buying GM cars this was my fifth one after having 2 2018 and 2 2020 but this new one again fucking issues GM will go bankrupt if they don't fix their shit and I will be the first one to help it
1:32 that’s 4 mpg less than my 4 cylinder subaru. nuts
That is the average hwy mpg for most, if not all full size truck-based SUV’s.
5.3 engine is to small for a big truck should have the 6.2 option ✌️🇨🇦✌️
yeah you can get it in the 6.2 or small diesel
Chevy might out a supercharger on the 6.2 liter for the Police Version of the Tahoe, the PPV. I can only see the Highway Patrol Departments needing/wanting those lol
That Audi was nice also
The rear sus.. are too low. Tha kills it 4 me. Becarfull with the roacks.
