My dad ordered a '73 Estate Wagon from Logan Military Sales...It was loaded up just like a Cadillac. No sensors and absolutley no recalls...I loved that car!

My family had a 1973 Estate Wagon that lasted for three decades. I got to drive it once in 1986. I was surprised by how well it handled.

We had blue ‘73 Estate Wagon that I ended up driving for a couple years when I was in high school. I worked at a Chinese restaurant and the Chinese waiters all marveled at its size when I showed up to work with it lol. One night while driving home on the highway a group of kids pulled alongside me and yelled for me to “punch it” which I willingly obliged. Once that 455.4 cubic inch V8 beast thundered into action I could see those kids fist pumping in my rear view mirror…good memories and what a car!

My grandparents had a 1973 Century Luxus 2 door. Yellow. Ordered it with cruise control. Wish I had it.

Those were the days. A two toned intermediate wagon, what more could you ask for? Obviously the answer is an Estate wagon that holds a full sheet of plywood! Did you notice that plywood did not have any patches like the plywood of today? The plywood veneers were better and the veneers on the side of the wagon were better too. 1973 is looking better all the time.

These things are pretty much Yukon Denali XLs in early-70s station wagon form. Also that glide away tailgate and automatic rear window, find that in an SUV today. I bet if that was shown in a concept car today, people would be in aw of the innovation.

I had one of them Opel wagons in the late 70's.
      Reliable tea totaller.
Some friends bought a new 73 Estate wagon in 73.
      Dark blue.
They owned it for years , and the clamshell tail gate/window never failed, even after it fell through the ice in a northern Minnesota lake.
Pulled the spark plugs and after a little water drainage, she fired right up !
After that , we named it Roger RamJet's Submarine !
We thought of pitching in to have a periscope mounted in the back seat .
They took a month long trip around the USA with it that fall. Great car/ truck.

Idk, I like the 80's wagons more than the 70's bc there not as over the top in exterior design (Though the 70's wagons had more horsepower & torque).

The 71-76 Wagons were heavier too.

Never liked the clamshell tailgate design which is why it only lasted 6 years. GM realized that Ford had the best design overall for a tailgate but Chrysler had it too eventually as well as the ideal 3rd seat facing the rear. I grew up in a Ford wagon and hated the facing rear seats

Those side impact bars will be an advantage in a derby.

Our ‘73 was sold to someone who ran it in a demolition derby. We didn’t have a roof rack.. I have a photo of our car once he prepped it- cut the wheel wells open, removed bumpers… it was so sad!

Shaggy on Scooby Doo was Kasey Kasim's voice... that would have been on TV in 1973. Turn the channel to Scooby Doo now.
