The thing is, I'm not surprised that laurents keeps "losing" battles that he's actually supposed to have won. When he does something w the music it's so quick and precise but so wild and unorthodox at the same time. It takes me like 5 replays to really catch exactly what he did and everytime I re-watch i learn something new about what he was trying to translate. It was great seeing the performance of both dancers.When you are battling dancers like Majid or Marquese Scott you know you gotta go beast mode they are top level dancers.Laurent did well.

Majid has evolved and learned a lot; he's a fantastic dancer and he definitely stood his ground against Laurent. We all know Laurent is a beast, and for me, he won that last round. Still, it was a VERY close match, Majid was very, very close to Laurent's level; both seemed to be impressed by each other. Very nice battle!
It would have been a hard decision for me to make. I love Les Twins but this battle was a hard one for me. I'm not really fond of Laurents current style but it seems to work for him.

I don't know man BIG RESPECT for Majid, even Laurent respect him so much but Laurent won that battle for me. I replay this video like 4 times now in order to judge equally between Laurent and Majid, I still think that Laurent > Majid but congrats to Majid what an awesome dude.

Majid is an all rounder, he used to compete in dancehall tournaments, hip hop, free style anything... he is one of the very few who could take on larry and laurent since day 1.... Always love to see them. I would love a Majid and waidy vs les twins would be amazing

I wouldn't say waving cuz they're not tracing with their hands & they're not poppers. Its pretty flowy though especially on Majid's side. Animation , definitely & honestly animation is making its way into a lot of different styles especially hiphop. Krump, vogue, wacking, etc. But only as a layer and new dynamic to the style. It's still bounce/rock/groove all day which is what makes hiphop dance & these two have it. Animation is also useful for catching different sounds in the music. Which brings us to the biggest reason (imho) why the style has changed so much being that Hiphop music itself has changed/evolved a lot over the years

Because Batalla is a heavy Flow and Groovy dancer. He's not much into the heavy beatkilling and "popping" kind of Hip Hop the Twins are known for. He would prefer someone with strong hip hop foundation and groove like Icee, Alex, etc. The way he dance and feel hip hop is just different, so naturaly, the way he will judge a hip hop battle will reflect that. Thats why he's more inclined to give tie, he know that as dancer, the level is high, but as a hip hop dancer, he feels like something is missing.

majid himself recognizes that laurent has to win at the end of the 3rd rounds and I think that laurent also takes the 4th round from him. I do not know what are the criteria of the judges but curious. as much alex vs larrry it was tight as the except the 1 rounds the rest goes to laurent.
Even if they win and if they lose the les twins .. they are still the best this way it's better because the les twins will improve and so will the new dancers ... They don't care that they don't win they do it mainly for people not for winning Les twins are best :)
I'll start this by saying that I think Laurent won the third round, i think even Majid was surprised that it was a tie LOL. That being said, i think that groove and flowing (not just hard hits and beatkilling) have been emphasized more than anything else. Looking at the Twins' battles, they both got bested by dancers who embody that, especially Alex. Overall i think these two were very evenly matched, Majid just stayed consistent and steady while Laurent had those big wow moments and otherwise stayed kinda chill. It could have went either way, but i see why Majid one. I think the judges' mindsets and styles played a part as well, all of them are purists to a degree (although Kefton is a pure beatkiller to me at times lol).
U know what, someone said it best about the semifinals, they were eachothers worst nightmare because of styles. They each do somethig in stark contrast to the other, so I think the judging came down to a matter of preference.
Pretty much it. And you're right about Kefton being a beatkiller, thats why he tend to give the win to Larry most of the time. Its a matter of preference and what you're looking into someone else dance. Nelson and Batalla tho, pure groove and flow master. They'll tend to prefer someone like Alex or Icee who are the kings of the hip hop freestyle battle scene. Thats the only thing they lost over the year ironicaly. They became technicaly superior and and developped their musicality but lost that groove and flow that was a part of their Hip Hop foundation back in 2008-2011. They gained immense control over their move but lost in amplitude. I think if Larry were a little bit more relaxed, let go a little bit of the animation lock and start using more of the space, he would definitly have a shot. Laurent doesn't suffer as much of this problem, over the years, and even more recently with his heavy House phase with Kapela and Playmo, he started regaining his groove and his roots. He also let himself go and get wild more easily than his brother; who's style relied heavily in his body control.

I agree with everything stated. Yet I have to emphasize my concern with why groove and relaxation is all of a sudden the most important out of all dancing categories. I think the level of complexity and difficulty to the twin's style and dancers alike has to be given their proper respect (not saying you guys arent). Even though I love the slow build up to Alex's style and majid's consistency with flow, It's hard for me to favor them against the twins this time around. What the twin's displayed, OVERWHELMED what they lacked in flow and groove. It's a preference judgement for sure and should be respected, but at some point it becomes hypocritical. To give Alex and Majid the edge, as they lack more than what the twins lacked in totality. Being explosive, having crazy wow moments, being greatly animated and athletic are areas that shouldn't be over looked, especially in a battle setting.
Im fully convinced these competitions be ridged because from the battles I’ve seen the twins killed their opponents and had way cleaner moves and personality in their dancing.

He would prefer someone with strong hip hop foundation and groove like Icee, Alex, etc. The way he dance and feel hip hop is just different, so naturaly, the way he will judge a hip hop battle will reflect that. Thats why he's more inclined to give tie, he know that as dancer, the level is high, but as a hip hop dancer, he feels like something is missing.

Always we have same shit with Les Twins. They are in semi final and look like judges try to make them lost with this "tie".

Not even a close battle. I love Majid but Laurent won. The judges don’t understand. Laurent’s moves were precise yet intricate. If you blink then you’ll miss what he did. It’s storytelling.

I'll start this by saying that I think Laurent won the third round, i think even Majid was surprised that it was a tie LOL. That being said, i think that groove and flowing (not just hard hits and beatkilling) have been emphasized more than anything else. Looking at the Twins' battles, they both got bested by dancers who embody that, especially Alex. Overall i think these two were very evenly matched, Majid just stayed consistent and steady while Laurent had those big wow moments and otherwise stayed kinda chill. It could have went either way, but i see why Majid one. I think the judges' mindsets and styles played a part as well, all of them are purists to a degree (although Kefton is a pure beatkiller to me at times lol).
U know what, someone said it best about the semifinals, they were eachothers worst nightmare because of styles. They each do somethig in stark contrast to the other, so I think the judging came down to a matter of preference.

Nelson and Batalla tho, pure groove and flow master. They'll tend to prefer someone like Alex or Icee who are the kings of the hip hop freestyle battle scene.
Thats the only thing they lost over the year ironicaly. They became technicaly superior and and developped their musicality but lost that groove and flow that was a part of their Hip Hop foundation back in 2008-2011. They gained immense control over their move but lost in amplitude. I think if Larry were a little bit more relaxed, let go a little bit of the animation lock and start using more of the space, he would definitly have a shot. Laurent doesn't suffer as much of this problem, over the years, and even more recently with his heavy House phase with Kapela and Playmo, he started regaining his groove and his roots. He also let himself go and get wild more easily than his brother; who's style relied heavily in his body control.
@@TenshiNoAme and its crazy because man I keep thinking about 2008 JD Larry, sheeeeeesh. Imagine him incorporating that flow and bounce he hae with everything he has now. Look at the battle they did against Yungson and Tip. Suprisingly Laurent was the weaker dancer at the time, he was suuuuuper raw, he was going through an exploration phase.
I agree with everything stated. Yet I have to emphasize my concern with why groove and relaxation is all of a sudden the most important out of all dancing categories. I think the level of complexity and difficulty to the twin's style and dancers alike has to be given their proper respect (not saying you guys arent). Even though I love the slow build up to Alex's style and majid's consistency with flow, It's hard for me to favor them against the twins this time around. What the twin's displayed, OVERWHELMED what they lacked in flow and groove. It's a preference judgement for sure and should be respected, but at some point it becomes hypocritical. To give Alex and Majid the edge, as they lack more than what the twins lacked in totality. Being explosive, having crazy wow moments, being greatly animated and athletic are areas that shouldn't be over looked, especially in a battle setting.
Im fully convinced these competitions be ridged because from the battles I’ve seen the twins killed their opponents and had way cleaner moves and personality in their dancing.

Plus de créativité.. impossible de deviner le mouvement suivant qu'ils vont exécuter...
